  • Usually music during cardio and I'll listen to the TV when I lift.
  • Honey/bees gentlemen. I've seen both of you jump in feet first calling people out, calling people awful things and awful names; and in general doing the same thing you're complaining about....therefore a stigma is born, just say'n.
  • I'd say I'm "skeptical at best". That's literally less than my 2 year old eats and you're basically saying that your BMR is 500 calories..... Ya, I can't even say I'm skeptical. There's no way. Are you over exaggerating to try to make a point?
  • You're overthinking it. Personally, I spent the day of the procedure in bed sleeping it off. By the next day I was up and around and eating solid food (carefully) that night. If water fluctuations worry you that much, stay away from the scale for a week or so.
  • I believe: Food > Settings > at the bottom of the screen make sure diary is set to public. How slow was the weight loss that it was too slow? Do you exercise and enter into MFP? Are you using a food scale or are you guessing?
  • ^^^Agreed. Without much more info on your stats (ht/wt/activity level, etc...) and your diary closed we can't offer too much more help. This is also a recipe for failure. It's time to start adulting and eating the right stuff. A balanced diet of fruits, veggies, protein, etc.... then you can mix in the treats.
  • Agreed, I was going to say the same thing. OP, you're already at a healthy weight. My guess: To get what you want aesthetically won't come from massively cutting calories to toddler level to lose more weight but probably more from taking a good look at your workout program (getting on something structured) and fueling it…
  • Personally....you lost 35lbs in 4 months which was way to fast, probably lost a fair amount of muscle along with the fat and didn't drop your overall BF% as much as you hoped. I'm 5'6" and I cut from 215 down to about 163 in less than a year. That was too much too fast. I then needed to take 2 years building myself back up…
  • What won't work? Weight loss, desired aesthetics or both? I would argue that, dependent upon your goals, that would most certainly work. If the goal is simple reduction of BF% and "getting in better shape" just eating the proper amount of calories would certainly work (see the twinkie diet). It may not be the most optimal,…

  • Agreed. When I was in my early 20s I aggressively cut from about 215 to 163 in about 7 months. I looked at myself in pictures and looked borderline emaciated. It took me over 2 years to build myself back up to 175 and then recomp down to about 170ish. If I would have done it right the first time I would have seen the…
  • Ya, those two don't jive. In order to lose 35lbs in 4 months, it isn't going to come off a "smart" deficit.
  • Dude....this is crazy fast weight-loss for your weight and time frame. You'll have to cut at, IMHO, a ridiculously low amount of cals, workout pretty intensely and will sacrifice muscle mass to do so. You'd be better off giving yourself a reasonable time frame and lose the weight a bit slower, ensuring you maintain as much…
  • I'd pull back on the cardio, keep one long cardio day, and look at a full body lifting program. Not just crunches and squats.
  • Probably not (not saying you aren't gaining a little bit), it's nearly impossible to lose fat and build muscle at a 1:1 ratio. You're probably seeing a couple things. Probably a little bit of "noob" muscle gain, but mainly water retention from the increased activity. Whenever I up my exercise routine, or change it up I can…
  • Agreed....I'm a runner and used to cycle quite often and I almost hit a guy on a bike in the crosswalk once. I was making a left hand turn across two busy lanes of traffic. I was checking the crosswalk and on-coming traffic back and forth. Unbeknownst to me, a bicycle was coming up the sidewalk on the other side of the…
  • ^^^Agreed with all previous posters. At sedentary 1200 you're probably under eating....at and active 1200 you would definitely be under eating. I would go with the minimum 1500 +exercise cals.
  • I'm sure YMMV, but OMG....I hated my wife's gazelle. I never felt like I got much of a workout from it and it hurt my knees. I'd take our elliptical over 10 out of 10 times.
  • Nobody is saying that anyone is lying to themselves or anyone else. We see it on here fairly often and what is meant isn't that the person is lying to themselves or "cheating their diary" they're just wayyyy less accurate than they thought they were being. No harm, no foul.
