I hear you. I hate working out too and the only way I can push myself to do it is to remember the feeling of satisfaction I have when I'm done.

When I started 2 years ago I couldn't exercise at all, my exercise was once per hour I had an alarm that would go off and I would stand up at my desk for a minute. I'm going to post some links that everyone just starting out should read it's really good information that helped me tons. If you read nothing else read the…

Feel free to add me. I am 56, 5' 5". I have lost 10 lbs and have 100 more to go. When you send me a friend request just let me know you saw me in this thread. You all encourage me. I am happy to know that I am not alone. I live in an area of CA where many people are fit and slim. I feel like an anomaly.

Starting Whole 30 on Monday, March 24th. How do y'all feel about Whole 30? Good experience? Difficult? Any side effects (like headaches)? Any tips?
-
Congratulations! You look wonderful. You give me hope.

Thank you all for your advice!

Thank you!

Thank you for this. You give me hope--I'm 54. You look great!

BTW Elle, you have lost 50lbs. What has been your method?

Thank you Elle!

I just googled. The quads need to be strengthened.
-
Zoe--I agree with you. Low impact exercises--until your knees no longer hurt--are the way to go.
-
You are not the only one with knee pain. I was looking for others' answers too. From what I understand from my trainer, we need to strengthen the muscles that hold the knee in place--that means strengthening our upper legs.

I took interval training to be cardio.

This is a summary of the article I suggested: "Article Summary: The first thing to assess with cardio on an empty stomach is the intensity of cardio. If you're following a low carb diet, this could lead to greater fatigue during the workout. As you get leaner, it becomes more likely that fasted cardio will cause you to…

Pictures that I saw of my DH and myself that were taken in Aug 2012 while we were visiting our newborn granddaughter. They made me realize we both would have to shed some pounds to keep up with her in the near future.
