Exactly! Until recently, processed crap food hasn't been what's readily available and cheap in 3rd world countries. And a lot of people there still do manual labor outdoors, rather than being trapped behind a cash register at Walmart or Taco Bell. But maybe they'll get there eventually, courtesy of companies like Monsanto…

Yes, this. And there is a huge (no pun intended) statistical correlation between poverty and obesity, for both children and adults.

Yummy!

Too bad you're too young for me.

This...and at my age, the dating pool is rather fished out, and I'm not willing to settle.

If you like baguette style bread, Schar makes a really good one. My son is gluten sensitive, and he says that it is the best one he's tried.

There are factors other than weight that can make a huge difference (I've learned this from experience, but the science is out there, too, if you want to look for it.). Eat lots of veggies and fruits, don't smoke, and get plenty of sleep. And I agree, weight training also helps a lot.

I work for a govenment agency, and have been told that bonuses for us are against the law...A few years ago, we got stainless steel Christmas ornaments with our company logo stamped on them. Last year we got a card and a candy cane. I can hardly wait for this year's surprise!

Beautiful! Thank you.

Height: 5'4" Starting weight :124 Current weight: 116 Goal weight: 116-120 Age: 52 I usually eat between 1500 and 2000 calories, depending on activity. I'm working on building some muscle, so I'm really okay with gaining a few pounds, if I gain it in the right places! I'm around 20-21% body fat, and I'd like be more around…

Eat mostly things that resemble what they started out as, and move your a**.

Wine, dark chocolate, and cheese bagels!

As a mother of a 30 year old son and 16 year old daughter, and as a former unruly drop out teenager , you spoke my heart. Thank you for your words of wisdom. OP, keep setting limits, but remember to kiss the frog...it will get better.

I just laughed mine off!

Haha, this. I'm trying to handle it with some grace...I wore a fabulous red dress to a party last night, and when a woman I'd just met complimented my outfit, her friend said "yes, great fashion shouldn't be limited to the young"! I bit my tongue, and replied "thank you, I so agree." I'm glad that I was only on my first…

Um, yes. It's one of several reasons I don't intend to get too low on the ol' body fat ratio; I still want to look like a girl.

Thanks for the recipe! I've been looking for creative ways to make chicken, And also for posting the nuitrition stats. You ARE awesome!

I looked at your diary, and I noticed that you are eating oats nearly every day. The symptoms you describe do sound like a possible gluten sensitivity, but some people who are sensitive to gluten are also sensitive to a protein that's in oats. Seeing a doctor is a probably a good idea, but these sensitivities are…

Very interesting. I'm Interested in improving in all of those areas; as you said living more consciously, and in finding balance with fitness, work, family, and social life. Add me if you like.

I meant raising your body temperature thru exercise can be helpful...damn typo.
-
It's okay to exercise at a low to moderate intensity if your feeling up to it, but exercising hard when a virus is in full force puts a lot of stress on your body, and can lower your immune response, so taking a rest day or 2 may be a good idea. There is some evidence that getting your body temperature a little thru…

Jenny, the situation you described seems to invite a binge, and I'll bet you're not the only one who overindulged, so don't be too hard on yourself. Try to learn from the experience, and focus on recovery; drink lots of water, get some exercise, and when your appetite returns, eat some lean protein and veggies. I also…

Mmm, thanks! I cook for my parents a lot, and this sounds like a good way to get the to eat some veggies! (ironic, isn't it?)

I run with scissors, too.

Awesomeness! I had a friend ask me for diet advice, and then say that she wanted to "eat like a normal person", meaning soda, ice cream bars, and chips and the like. Eating a lot of processed food is a cultural norm, not a physiological one.

I love grilled provolone with slices of avocado and tomato.

I drink a glass of wine most nights (for health reasons, lol...) and every so often I like to have more. I treat it like any other "treat food"; that is, I try to balance with exercise and the rest of my diet, but if I don't, I try not to let it derail me. For me, it's the overall picture that counts.
