That would be the chicory root in it; it's the number one ingredient in Fiber One bars. Chicory root is the ingredient that gives the bar its high fiber, but it also has been known to give some people upset stomach, diarrhea, and gas.

That's awesome and something to be admired for! Good job :)

Peanut butter with freshly sliced apples or banana is awesome! Totally agree with the egg over easy, and then add a slice of cheese on top.

600 calories is way too little energy just to sit all day long. You may be losing weight, but it's probably mostly muscle loss, not fat loss. Start scheduling when and what you're going to eat, so that you know you are getting enough calories in, no less than 1200 a day. If you're going to exercise, eat more than this.…

I'm proud of you for wanting to like something, but these things take time. It took me 24 years to like tomato (and I still don't like it plain). But it's actually pretty refreshing when I put it on a sandwich or a burger or in some guacamole. So as long as there are other flavors and ingredients besides the tomato I can…

I don't know how they look by your description, but when I first read your post, the first thing that popped into my head was a bacterial infection. It usually occurs in children with type 2 diabetes and who are overweight. Read the following: Acanthosis Nigricans Acanthosis nigricans is a condition in which tan or brown…

Thanks for the adds! The closest I got to Phoenix was Ikea a few days ago! I'd like to go exploring over there before I leave though.

I don't intend to offend you, but carbohydrates are the most important energy source for the body which should make up 45-65% of your total calories for the day. Next is fat 20-35%, and protein is anywhere from 10-35% of total calories. Depending on your age, gender, activity level, and type of activity you concentrate in…

With the information you gave me, I just calculated your energy requirements to MAINTAIN your current weight, which gave me 3300 calories/day. Math lesson on calories: For every pound, there are 3500 calories. 500 calorie deficit x 7 days a week = 3500 calories = 1 pound wt. loss per week. 1000 calorie deficit x 7 days a…

As part of my undergraduate course work, we had a class specifically for diet selection and prescription, which also went into detail about the consequences of fad diets, eating disorders, and disordered eating. For adults, the suggested minimum calorie requirements for adult women was 1000 calories/day, and adult men was…

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. It's really complicated when something unplanned like this happens. What you're doing right now though is good, because you're seeking comfort/advice, which means that you're ready to change this habit. To my knowledge, I can't recall when I've been in this type of situation in my…

I used to do this during commercial breaks, but with crunches and jumprope. It's a good challenge, and it keeps you hydrated. I'm up for it!

Sounds like you're doing a good job with spacing meals, eating all food groups (grains, fruits, vegs, dairy, meat & beans), and setting a good example for your children! So congrats to you on these accomplishments. If you're looking to increase your consumption (which I would suggest if you're breastfeeding, walk a lot,…

Jamie, In response to the calories you burn throughout the day, that is where MFP estimates how much you need for the day. So if MFP says to consume 1200 calories, that's so you have enough energy (calories) to get you by throughout the entire day. When you exercise you will need more energy than when you do not exercise.…
