Excuse me ? poor running form is painful, naturally painful. It's not natural to strap a huge elastic cushion to your heel, you shouldn't land on it in the first place. You adapt quickly to midfoot striking because it is how you naturally run.

I suspect you never had shin splints, you had a calf strain. I ran 11 miles with mine almost every day, see my diary Aug 16-20. It didn't ran them out, it made it so bad that I couldn't walk without limping. Don't do my mistake, rest ! rest is key to recovery. Just because you can endure the pain doesn't mean it's ok.

Feet swell with the workout so even when your laces were loose when you put them on, they might still be too tight afterwards.

Cold turkey is the only way, as long as someone keeps smoking he is still hooked. Only way to free yourself is not to smoke for as long as possible. I smoked for 15 years before I quit. I knew the dangers of smoking and I felt bad every morning but I told myself that lung cancer is relatively rare compared to other cancers…

Sounds like shin splints. Caused from running too much without rest days and heal striking with worn out shoes. You need to RICE= Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. Rest - don't run every day. Ice - after your run ice the area. Compression - With a sports bandage "self adhering elastic bandage". Elevation - prop your feet…

Would love to have more running friends. Doing 20 miles per week but hope to do a lot more. Please add anyone.

1. Fast is not detox, it's unhealthy and puts your body under unnecessary stress. Staying low is hard enough, don't torture yourself. 2. Why not let him get any young girl and abuse her instead. I just checked your gallery, tell the guy Mr. long-haired-skinny-dude-from-the-internet said he is lucky to have you.

This is the correct answer. Your hrm could be wrong because it will not register any work done when HR is too low. Mine won't log anything when under 100bpm. Burn when walking depends on weight carried over a distance. A 150 lbs person will burn 65 cal per mile. You burned 4.35 x 65 x 390/150 = 735.15 calories.

I had the same thing, a sharp stab in the calves. That's bad news, you have a calf strain probably. Look it up and see if you have the symptoms. Caused by too much and too hard work. You need to rest a lot, like several weeks, depending on how bad it is. Than you can start strengthening your calves by doing calf raises.…

Congrats. I think I can do 8 for one mile maybe, but I can only dream of 7. Not even in my dreams.

323 miles running since the end of july. About 2000 walking.

Calipers are more accurate. Skinny *kitten*.

If all you want is the burn as much as possible then zones don't matter. If you want to build your endurance so you can swim/bike/run faster/longer/easier then zones are very important. Here's an excellent article on how to find your zone for your goals: http://www.endurancefactor.com/Articles/article-heartintro.html

If the the "10" setting on the treadmill means 10 degrees incline then I would definitely consider that as uphill.
-
This. I've had days I didn't eat all day and then went for a two hour run. A bit of cardio or not eating up to your goal won't make you dizzy. This is serious.
-
That's incredible. Congrats.

The one in the middle is so hot she just gave the other two a tan.

You're just saying that so people will check out your bass.

Interesting. Could you try other apps on the iphone to measure distance, I don't use an iphone but many do. It's 8.8% off the mark !

This. And also under such conditions your use of fat as energy source will improve.

Thank you guys that is very helpful, you just saved me ~150$ for what would probably be a high tech trash bag.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. Many garments are claimed at being dry and breathable but I can't tell which one actually delivers.

Because he is very proud of his son. Read it and you'll understand. OP: thanks for sharing, good children are very rare these days. "naches foon kinder is tayere vi geld" comfort from children is more precious than gold.

HRMs are good for aerobic activities where there is no other way to measure your burn: stationary bike, eliptical trainer, cross-skiing. For aerobic activities like walking, running and swimming mfp will be accurate enough, sometimes even more. HRMs are an excellent tool to guide you during an aerobic exercise and meet a…

This is worth repeating. Doing the distance is easy but you'll get yourself injured.

41-44 Depending on how much sleep I get.

He just gave you a very detailed, educated answer as to why you are wrong about this (thank you heybales !). Increasing your weight without changing any other variables *should* give you a lesser calorie count. Higher weight at the same HR means slower speed, less distance, less work.
-
Why should it give you a higher burn at a higher weight ? This assumption is wrong.
-
The more energy expended, the higher the heart rate. If you put weight on my back I will burn more and it will be reflected by a higher heart rate. You can't increase the weight at the same heart rate and wonder why cal/min is going down.
