  • I just moved from Ohio to California, I'd pretty much sell my soul for kroger prices again! That said... Have you looked into the website budget bytes? She has great recipes for low prices. And you don't have to make huge dinners, if that's where your costs add up. This time of year, apples are suuuuper cheap (especially…
  • Met my step goal, calorie goal and went on a hike this week, and I was alone with the kiddo for most of the week while my husband was traveling for business and sick. I did it!
  • Yes, it's why I have a fitbit, every step I take takes me closer to the goal, and usually by the end of the day I'm so close that I make myself go for a walk or jog. Gets the job done because I don't want to end my streak of meeting my goals!
  • As you add the new foods they should go to the top of your list... Just ignore the rest of the list?
  • This can't be real. Oil pulling plus bentonite clay in one post, with excessive cardio... Go to a doctor ASAP.
  • I'm five weeks in. Motivation to eat perfectly is waning. But I made logging all my food a habit, so I force myself to log, just like I force myself to get out of bed in the morning. Even if I eat terribly, it's in there.
  • I'm down 2.8 pounds this week, I worked out or walked every day, I met my step goal every day, and I tracked everything even though some of my choices were terrible.
  • W1: +6 W2: -5 W3: -2.4 W4: -3.6 W5: -2.8 Total: -13.8 as of this week, but unfortunately I weighed a little more this morning thanks to super sore muscles, ouch!
  • I'm losing weight and thinking about having another kid when I'm closer to my goal. I had pre eclampsia with my last pregnancy though there's no indication it was weight related, but I need to be I better shape to run after two kids! Good luck to you :)
  • My OB read a study about this when I was pregnant three years ago and had pre eclampsia. Salt didn't change my bp either way.
  • Definitely going through this thread adding people
  • So instead of waiting for motivation, why not make it a habit? Log your food every day no matter what. Don't wait for grand sweeping expectations. I've got an mfp streak because I make myself log every day. Paying attention to it while logging has lead to weight loss, but I didn't pay attention the first week or two, once…
  • Well, I also live in a house with no AC (not really a strange thing in the Bay Area but it does get hot here) so I probably drink extra thanks to that since we're in warm weather.
  • I'm bigger than you, I require more water. It's not hard for me, but I like ice water. Edit: it took me a while to drink enough water. 100 oz is my minimum if I take a walk. It really helps me to drink a lot, I don't really over consume sodium either, I don't really understand it myself except that it's just what I…
  • I just worked out through a cold, didn't slow down my recovery. If you have a fever, no, but if you're only sick from the base of the neck up, you're fine to do a light workout.
  • Good for you! Sounds like you know what you want out of this. I workout in the morning or evening, depends on my day. I try to go on walks with my husband and kid to get them out and about, too. As for staying motivated... I just make tracking a habit, even if I eat poorly. I have to stay accountable. I ward off hunger…
  • I walk and sometimes jog outdoors, and I do Pilates and strength exercises indoors. Room for both in life! Though I do prefer outdoors. I just moved to the Bay Area and the weather is beautiful here everyday...
  • I do like to cook, but it's not hard to find healthy food premade. My husband travels for work a lot and my three year old is very picky, so I skip cooking often enough... I've found that Canned tuna, trader joes meals(the gyoza and some of the Indian entrees are very reasonable), salads, whole foods' paleo hot bar and my…
  • I forgot to post on Friday too... I'm sick but still keeping up with my walks. :)
  • Yes it's double dipping, I turn off sync with mapmyrun
  • Opening all my curtains/blinds when I was home during daylight helped last year. Vitamin d supplements and getting a good nights sleep helped, too. I've moved out of the Midwest to California this year and I'm really hoping that helps, but obviously that isn't feasible for everyone!
  • Log everything accurately for a week, without trying to change your eating necessarily. Then, once you're ready, start aiming for hitting and not going over your calorie mark, with a better understanding of what calories are in your normal foods. You choose what to change, and how to change it. Maybe you have half a soda…
  • W1: +6 W2: -5 W3: -2.4 W4: -3.6 (I think.) Total: 11 pounds. I think I might increase my goal to 20 before Halloween. Amazing what eating well, exercising more, drinking water and getting enough sleep will do :)
  • I don't know where you are, but I fly delta in the states and I've always had extra room on the belt (I'm about your size). Hopefully that's the case for your next flight! I also read about quietly asking for the extender when you board; I haven't ever needed to but it's a good option to have.
  • I have one goal: 100 miles walked. It's not really a ton, but it's a reachable goal. I wear a fitbit so I know the distance I walk every day.
  • You know what the best deterrent is? Forcing yourself to log it no matter what. Doing that five times over, you start to really think about how you don't want to miss out on those calories - that donut could have been a really good piece of chocolate and a glass of wine, for example. Log it and keep going. Eventually…
  • I like that. We're doing weekly weigh ins in the Halloween challenge group but I feel like this puts a more positive spin on it.
  • I'm all for this. Also from r/loseit :) I'm on day 10 of a streak! Wooo!
  • It depends on the exercise. I don't add it for walking/running unless I'm pushing the stroller (I have a flex). I do add yoga, Pilates, dance, weights because the movement isn't enough to log how much I'm actually burning.
  • I worked in a soy iced pumpkin spice latte over the weekend, no whip, I just needed a fall fix! Fall foods are better than Christmas cookies, haha. I better figure out a good healthy pumpkin cookie soon...
