  • I read the follow up post with her 'apology' and it was still so full of judgement, I decided I have no interest in reading any more of her posts. Then the follow up comments... it was painful, how if we would just put down the donuts and not eat a dozen at a time we'd be fine and not need surgery. I don't know about you…
  • I'm continually stumped by people who think vinegar promotes an 'alkaline' environment in your body. Do you remember nothing from high school chemistry? Vinegar is an acid, acetic acid to be specific. You can't add acid to something and make it more alkaline. That's not how any of this works.
  • Been prepared for the early arrival of my period. According to the nurses, this is a very common occurrence, but they don't warn you about it at all. Something about the hormone changes your body goes through immediately after surgery.
  • What DebLaBounty said. 100%. Steam it in an aluminum foil pouch with dill and lemon, and maybe some garlic.
  • I had my Sleeve done on June 30th 2017. My 'Honeymoon' lasted all of 3 weeks lol. I lost 30 pounds, and now my body is back to it's old tricks (up 2, down 3, up a half, down a pound, back up a bit, the old song and dance, despite eating between 5 and 600 calories a day at 320 pounds). It's not all a breeze of effortless…
  • Also, in the non premium function, you can disable negative calorie adjustments. Meaning it won't ever do this kind of thing to you.
  • Get a dog. Feed the dog the leftovers as additions to their dry dog food (clearly this only applies to dog friendly foods). Problem solved.
  • Not sure if they come back, but today is definitely an un-hungry day for me and I've been doing this since March. Come to think of it, yesterday was as well. Had my scrambled eggs and cheese for breakfast, then didn't eat again until we had dinner at 10 at night (yeah we eat weird) and then it was two pork chops and some…
  • I noticed this weekend my stepdaughter switching to diet coke (of all things). I haven't tried to influence her eating one teeny bit, she's a strong, healthy eight year old who clearly doesn't have the metabolic problems I do (both of her parents are, and remain, quite thin) so I don't see the need to do much with her diet…
  • Hah. I feel you on the watermelon. So the other day I splurged on a piece of cantaloupe. Oh it was so good, ripe, sweet, juicy.... and it literally shot right through me rather uncomfortably. So um. I will choose not to repeat that splurge.
  • That's really more of a personal question. What kind of diet are you doing specifically? Are you looking at low carb? Keto? For you personally, do you want to include your fiber carbs in your total carbs or not? MFP will log whatever you put in, so if you create a custom food entry for these, modified for net carbs and…
  • My life has been such an up and down! I have PCOS, but I'm sure that isn't the main cause of all the weight I've gained and lost throughout the years. First major weight spike was in my early 20's when I was going through multiple rounds of back surgeries. Got my weight back down going low carb, and major increase in…
  • I've been 3 days now with no 'lazy low carb' trying to eat real foods, getting carbs from veggies, not eating heavily processed (deli) meats with nitrites, and avoiding artificial sweeteners. Finally finally, the worst of the headache is clearing out. I can still feel it playing about up there, but it's more of an…

  • Fat and Happy? I'd be over the moon (with joy) if I was a size 12. PCOS is no joke for losing weight, and trust me, the frustration is endless. When you work for months to lose half the weight of someone without PCOS... only to see half of that come back with just one or two poor eating choices.... it's very easy to want…
  • No, two years ago it was diagnosed as migraines. I haven't had the falling or anything this year, but I've had a lot of that uncomfortable feeling in my hands and tingling toes. Doctor I went to said it was probably migraine flare which is why we went with the Imitrex and Topamax, but part of me was worried that it was…

  • I'm honestly not even sure it is the carbs, the lack of carbs, or the sugar alcohols. Any of it. This happened again a couple summers ago, only coupled with random falling and my arms and legs going numb. No low carb involved at all there. It might just be my really sucky pathetic lot in life that I get really severe…

  • This may be as unscientific as it comes. But here we go anyway. My Mom always told me when I was younger that when you overeat you stretch out your stomach (the actual organ, not your midsection) and that after repeated over stretching, your stomach would hang there like some sort of balloon you tried to blow up too many…
  • Moon Cheese. Tastes like cheez-its. It's ungodly expensive at Starbucks, but I've read you can find it cheaper elsewhere.
  • Just report them to HR for the Gay and Biracial Slurs as creating a hostile work environment. That should be able to be reported anonymously. If you like the job, don't let one person chase you away.
  • Also, if you ever read the Eat This, Not That! books, that Bistro Shrimp Pasta consistently ranks as the worst meal in the US. I think it used to have even more calories, topping out at over 3k. Frightening isn't it. One meal and you could EASILY crush 4k+ calories.
  • I'm just trying to figure out how they managed to give a steak 24 carbs. Literally the only thing on that menu I would eat would be grilled fish with a side of broccoli.
  • Most restaurants will accommodate specific requests as well. My favorite place for lunch has a couple of great options. There's a salmon caesar salad I just love. Or I get the philly cheese steak, no bun, with veggies on the side. I get a pile of beef, onions, and peppers with provolone cheese melted over the top, and a…
  • I think my only change would be to use a mandolin on those cucumbers. Uniform and so much thinner then I can get with a knife. That would be fab with salmon. I always make my salmon with dill, lemon, and butter. The dill in the salad would pick up the dill in the fish. Yummm.
  • Super WOOOO for this!!!!!
  • Wearing my next size down pants to work today and not feeling like they are going to explode off of my body because they are so tight. =)
  • Heh. Yeah this was probably a year or so ago. Later, after I had dropped off keto for a while, my PCP ordered some bloodwork before putting me on Metformin testing kidney function and it all came back normal. I assumed it was the low carb, but wasn't sure. I mean I suppose when you are a doctor, and someone comes in…

  • Just blood work. He didn't test the joint fluid. He just assumed since I was overweight and my toe hurt I had gout.

  • A related question, a while back I tripped up some stairs, badly, completely ripped off my toenail, the whole nine yards. After a while it was still hurting so I went to a podiatrist. He decided I had gout (which I rather incredulously asked how tripping up stairs could cause my kidneys to malfunction) and did a blood test…

  • I actually for two months have been doing a 'slim fast keto' type diet. Aktin's shake for breakfast, Atkins shake for lunch, a bar of some type for a snack, then a large, fatty dinner. Like chicken legs, fried with the skin, with lots of salt and some coconut oil melted on, and a salad. Lost 25 pounds so far, so I think it…
  • Up until this weekend I was craving Chinese food hardcore. I was feeling sick, so I went ahead and ate whatever on Friday. The steamed dumplings were great, the General Tso's not so much. Just too much sweet gross flavorless glop. I ate it anyway because it was kind of expensive. But at least that's out of my system now, I…
