I cover 3 beets in aluminum foil + 1 butternut squash (sliced in half, brush with olive or walnut oil, and placed meaty side down) on a cookie sheet. Bake at 350-375 for 1 hour. Scoop out the squash into a bowl. Peel off the beet skin and cube beets. Add to squash. Top with feta cheese and chopped walnuts. Go amazingly…

I work in the recovery room for surgery and see a lot of nausea. Sniff alcohol swabs or a cotton ball soaked with rubbing alcohol. I swear this works! I actually carry alcohol swabs now when I fly to help with motion sickness.

there's a website called mapmywalk.com (i think that's the right site) that let's you map out any route you take. It uses google maps to figure out distance. Really helpful when you walk around the neighborhood or at parks that don't have distance maps posted.

Asparagus is a natural diuretic. Also, if you up your fiber intake this should let pull water into your colon and will help eliminate water this way.

I think it sounds like a lot of fun. Plus I'm guessing your husband doesn't care if they have to go a little slower to keep pace with you if it's your first time, he probably just enjoys spending time with you doing something he loves. As far as the training goes, have you thought about climbing stairs with a backpack on?…

I have a bag from Under Armour that's awesome. It has a separate compartment for your shoes, a front pocket, and a side pocket with air vents for a swimsuit. The main compartment is really roomy. I actually use a lot for my carry area. They sell it at ****s Sporting Goods.

How about green deviled eggs with bits of ham on top? Maybe do something with Elephants from Horton Hears a Who?

I have the "Better Homes Eat Well to Lose Weight." It's great, they don't endorse using artificial sweeteners like many of the weight loss books. It's just healthy food cooked in various ways with seasoning for great taste. Plus they have a lot of pictures and I like to see what things look like.

I like to add a tablespoon or less of honey into the greek yogurt. I top mine with Special K granola (1/2 c.) It's super tasty and not tart at all.

It really depends on the type of neck surgery you are having. If it is a discectomy you could eat normal. However, if you have a neck dissection the doctor will prescribe what kind of diet he/she wants you on in order to swallow easily. If you can eat normal meals I would recommend making meals you like ahead of time and…

You look 10 years younger. Congratulations!

I weigh myself almost every day. I found if I weighed in only once a week and it went up I would get discouraged that I did something wrong. If I weigh in more often and the scale goes up I remind myself that it could because of higher salt intake, fluid retention, or because I have been eating poorly. It helps me get back…

I've used a can of cherry pie filling as a substitution for cake mixes and it's delicious. For brownies, I've used all bran cereal and made muffins. It does change the consistency but they are really good. If you do a google search for all bran brownies several sites list the ingredient amounts.

CONGRATULATIONS! Very inspiring.

I cut out all aspartame a few years ago. I had switched to diet pops to help with weightloss and noticed dizziness and terrible headaches. When I stopped drinking diet pops the headaches went away. I've had several other people I know stop also and we've all felt better. Now I know instantly if I've had aspartame as I got…

I have a SOLE elliptical and would highly recommend it. Great quality, very similar to what you get in the gym. I have a gym membership so I don't go on it a ton, but I think it was well worth the money. Check out ****s Sporting Goods online. They have deals every now and then where they offer free shipping to the house. I…

Often the iron in multivitamins is the culprit for abdominal pain. I take viactiv multivitamins because they don't contain iron. Since I switched I haven't had any stomach pains/GI upset. It's worth a try. The best time to take them is in the morning with food. Hope that helps!
