  • flintstones multi, bariatric advantage for the chewable calcium citrate (3xs daily, not w/ multivitamin b/c iron interferes with absorption), dissolving Bariatriac advantage for vitamin b12 and chewable vitamin D, 2000 IUs, and then had to take some funky pill (so my gall bladder didn't develop stones...I guess common for…
  • Kinda like childbirth, though... my experience totally sucked (for maybe 2 days) but once I felt better, I felt really much better and it has been smooth sailing ever since! So hang in there and take comfort knowing the worst is behind you : )
  • Can't tell you how helpful this site is...was trolling around here, just browsing responses and realized that I was also really struggling to get the water down and had been making it like before (iced). Post surgery, it had a really "metallic" taste and I was baffled by why I suddenly hated water so much -- changed the…
  • Good luck! I just had it done on December 1st....feels like forever ago! (in a good way) The first week or two were rough, but I was prepared b/c I'd been following some support groups online. Then, I just turned a corner and really felt FINE. What's wild is that the way I've been eating would've bored me in the past, BUT…
  • I lost 20 pounds pre-surgery; then 20 in first two months - started with 80+ to lose. Following the plan to a T but am working with doctor who is fine with eating 800-1000 calories; high protein lower carb plan. (pretty typical, I'm sure...)
  • The slower I lose, the more time I'm giving my skin to adjust ; ) I'm so happy to just see the scale creeping consistently in the right direction!!! 3 more weeks and I can go back to lifting weights. Never thought I'd miss it, but I do! (truly, it's the only exercise I enjoy...) Good luck to all --
  • Yeah! Congrats and I, too, would LOVE to get it down to that point. good job!
  • I was denied three times - and in hindsight now know that "third time's a charm" in most insurance circles as your request gets booted over another review committee. I had the surgery done on Dec. 1st -- first two weeks were HELL (but I was totally prepared for it, so I just waited it all out...) But I followed my doctor's…
  • Thanks for all the input! My surgeon is dedicated to researching this exact topic: Why does bariatric surgery seem to (at least temporarily) take food "out of your head." I told her if she figures this all out, she'll be a millionaire : )
  • Thanks for the encouragement! It's great seeing people on here succeed in this whole endeavour...very motivating to me to see others making such great progress. Right now, I'm just taking it day by day and trying to eat enough calories so MFP stops posting that warning at the end of each day ; )
  • I find such stories so motivating!! Thanks for sharing :)
  • I still like the bariatric advantage (vanilla; with frozen strawberries makes it more "milk shakey") and the Premier Protein in the convenient little "milk box" containers (chocolate.) The P.P. ones are available at Costco.... : )
  • DITTO. your short, sweet and to the point message is THE most motivating thing I've read. I wish you the best.
  • Hearing you talk about slip ups was JUST THE THING I needed to hear! I recently just "gave up" MFP for about week and yes, gained about 8 pounds!! But like you said, I've just jumped back in and am "starting" again. It was perfect to see your amazing progress, even with lapses throughout the process -- thanks for your…
  • HI - I am in same boat as you; also following a doctor supervised plan that is probably similar to what you are doing (less than 80 carbs/more than 80 protein each day?? Is that kind of like the carb sensitivity plan? ) I also gain weight if I carb out -- am on day 15 (or so) of MFP and so far, so good....but the beginning…
  • add me please!
  • WOW! I cannot tell you how motivating your pics are - thanks for sharing! Sometimes I feel like at my weight, nothing but plastic surgery will ever get me back to "normal" -- but your pics prove that is NOT true!! Keep up the great work!
  • I also need someone who is just starting out -- this is day one for me and the main reason I'm replying is because I'm procrastinating about getting on the elliptical for a work out : ) So I'm just writing to say that I'm wishing you luck in your endeavor and feel free to vent or chat whenever you want....
