  • AdBlock - and life gets easier ;)
  • I eat tones of "processed" food (well I do not really consider it processed - if you take tomatoes and make tomato soup does it mean you eat processed (as in unhealthy) meal?): ham, sausage, bread, butter, cheese, cottage cheese, oatmeal... the list goes on. I don't see a problem here as long as you do not live entirely on…
  • Don't take me wrong but healthy lifestyle does not guarantee that you will not get sick ever. It's just that I see people saying that they eat healthy to live long and healthy life. It surely increases your chances but it's not surefire way to last 'till 100th birthday ;)
  • I get about 5-6 hours on week days and 8 on weekends. I work out at home but I only do DVD's with 5-8 lbs weights so it's easy to do it at home. I have to be out the door at 6:45am and I'm back usually around 6-7 pm. I do my work out around 8-9 pm. I'm usually ok with that but recently I'm feeling really tired and it's…
  • There. I grew up in small town in Poland (80's, communism, no fast foods). Even at "only" 10-15 pounds overweight I was the fattest kid in the school! No good, believe me. I have hard wired in my brain that fat is bad, yet, since I remember I was either obese or overweight. I want to be "thin" to prove to myself that I can…
  • Actually, too much sleep can as unhealthy as too little. I usually get 5-6 hours on a work night, 8-9 on a weekend (day off).
  • I use HRM for that. It is very basic HRM (spent $35 on it...). It only gives me average and maximum heart rate, and the minutes the activity lasted. I use online calculator to figure out how many calories I've burned. Fitbit calculates how much you burn based on amount of steps and intensity. So 1000 steps in 1 hour gives…
  • Yes, fitbit rocks! I wear it all day long - except for exercise (use HRM for that). It really eliminated the guess work for me, plus it gives you a little bit of motivation - sitting on your butt all day does not burn many calories lol
  • I can relate to OP here. For years I would either binge all day long or not eat at all. It was very hard for me to maintain a resonable calorie deficit on daily basis and lose weight because of that. OP: it seems hard but try to eat more. There is a good chance that you will not last on 900 cal for very long and start…
  • I too try not to eat after dinner - because eating after dinner usually means mindless snacking. Also, most of the time I do not have any calories left :) But I do not setup rules, if it's late and I haven't had my dinner yet, you bet I'm gonna eat it.
  • Nocturnal Sleep-Related Eating Disorder - yes some people eat while sleeping! (sorry for OT)
  • Greetings from Calgary, Alberta I just spent 45 min shoveling snow... The good thing is I get to log it as exercise ;)
  • As someone mentioned already: try 30 day shred by Jillian Michaels. I could see a great change in my upper back after 1st two weeks of working out.
  • But we gonna, aren't we? Healthy eating and exercise is not a 100% guarantee to live long healthy life. And even if you are that lucky, you still die of old age...

  • You look great! Keep up the good work! I really love the fact that you are able to do push up jacks now. I'm doing my first fit test on Monday and I now I will score zero there as well. My arms are too weak. I will be ecstatic if I could do a few by the end of 60 days.
  • I haven't started yet but I already know that Sunday will be my day off... from everything (well almost) that includes my day job, household work and workouts too. Monday to Friday, my schedule is really crazy. I leave for work at 7am, I'm back 12 hour later. If I want to get 7 hours of sleep, I have 4 hour window to do…
  • Thank you for the suggestions. I'm getting a little OCD here, I may as well make that decision once I'm done with 1st month. I don’t get bored with workout easily. I did level 1 of 30 day shred for 20 days… lol I was sooo out of shape. Anyway, the most important thing is to get going. Thanks again!
  • I'm a fan of Jillian Michaels. I like her style and while I was thinking about switching to something else, I just keep buying her DVD's! I just started: Banish Fat Boost Metabolism (for cardio) and No More Trouble Zones (for strength). Those are a bit longer workouts - about 45 min each. I do them 6 times a week: 4 days…
  • It happened to me few times since last August. I live in a low humidity area and after mentioning this to my doctor her opinion was that it is because of dry air. It goes away after I increase water intake but I generally don't drink that much water - so I don't know if that would be your case. You may want to check with…
  • If I had to wake at 6am to work out, I would kill myself after a week. Joking aside: did you take any days off during that 4 months? Maybe I did not read very carefully but I got the feeling that you work out every day? If so then being tired is a signal from your body to slow down a little. You need some time off to…
  • No. There's many benefits of being single. ;)
  • I do weigh daily but I only record my lowest weight. I may go for several days (sometimes even few weeks) going up and down and then on x day get to my lowest weight ever - and that's what I record. The problem is not that you weigh daily, the problem is to expect weight to be lower every time you do this.
  • You people are bored or something? (I guess I am...)

  • You bet. After a month of counting calories, it became clear that I'm doing just fine as long as I stay away from cookies, chocolate, and general over eating. It's very easy to lose track or conveniently "not notice" this small treats throughout the day. A cookie here, a piece of chocolate there. It seems like nothing but…
  • If you are only interested in number on the scale then yes, it is possible. I'm guessing you want to lose weight to look better as well and it will be hard to achieve without exercising. I'm not a big fan of exercise either, I treat it as necessity but "the pain" is really worth it once you see the results.
  • That's called over analyzing the process :) I don't think it really matters when you eat. Just do what works for you and lets you stay as fit and as healthy as possible.
  • I'm 36 years old. For first 25 years of my life I lived in Europe (sadly not Spain lol) and ate my main meal before 3 PM. Guess what? I struggled to lose weight because - no matter how much I eat during the day - I'm always hungry in the evening! I've lost 45 pounds eating dinner after 6 PM (while living in Canada). Let me…
  • I eat 1200 + the exercises calories to lose. No need to feel sorry for me :). If I ever hit my GW, my BMR will be around 1100 - it is just below 1400 now. I'm 5'3", 36 years old female, about 156 pounds. I never needed much food to feel full. I've been fat most of my life because of the emotional eating that had nothing to…
