I keep bread in the freezer and I only get out one serving, or half a serving. It helps me control the portions until I can control it myself someday. Plus, I can't eat a whole loaf before it would go bad.

Well, clothes can make a big difference! Have you tried wearing stuff that suits your new figure? There are several ways to give the impression of a waist, etc. I have watched so much "What Not To Wear" that I should be able to list them, but I am sure you can google it.

It used to be $10-$15, now it's $18-$25 :( I don't buy it very often anymore.

Big reds... Zin, Cab Sav, Malbec, Shiraz, Chianti. I can drink Piot Noir or Merlot, but they aren't my favorites. I don't care what other people like, I mean, I don't judge them. However, I can't stand most white for myself, except I do love cold Prosecco on a hot summer night. My absolute favorite is 7 Deadly Zins, or any…

30 seconds. Am up to a mile, which is about 11 minutes, which is slow, but that is OK! I can do 2 miles with a 2 min walk break between. It's amazing how quickly you improve.

Yeah, that chart plus neck, wrist, calf, ankle. Neck is often used for % bodyfat calculations, so that one especially. It's a lot of places to measure, but I only do it about once a month.

"Johnson concluded that extra insulin produced in the normal mice by the high-fat diet caused their obesity, which strongly suggests that mice – and, by extension, humans – may make more insulin than they need. " Uh, or they eat more calories than they need.... Thing is, the human body's insulin production hasn't suddenly…

Your shoes are maybe too tight. Sounds silly, but I have to wear mine pretty loose to avoid my toes going numb.

I sent a friend request already, but I thought I would respond to the thread too. I also live in a place where everyone is fit and healthy. This is my second time on here and I am determined to get healthy while still eating local, organic and sustainable. Not vegetarian at all though ;) It would be awesome to have more…

I've done both. There are several types of yoga. It can range from very relaxing stretching to intense work outs. I like how I feel physically and mentally after yoga. There are movements/poses for getting in touch with almost every part of your body - even your eyes and nose! I adore yoga. Pilates is less about mind/body…

"No offense, but" ... is sure to be followed by something offensive.

I just watched the HBO documentary "Weight of the Nation" - it is available on HBO's website for free and there is a part just on kids that you could watch. It had a lot of good information on the health effects AND what to do. They stressed that the biggest thing to do to start with is cut out the sugary drinks - soda is…

E and I would pretend like I was in an infomercial demonstrating how awesome the vacuum cleaner is. "It crushes whole crackers leaving nothing behind!"

If there is a World Market near you, they sell a lot of Torani syrups, including sugar free ones. If you like pumpkin/gingerbread type stuff you could probably make it at home using spices + half and half and sweetner. Those commercial coffee creamers scare me though, they have 4,000 ingredients, only 2 of which I…

This! We are learning more and more about genes and how they are turned on and off. I would say CULTURE is a much bigger influence than genetics. If your parents are fat, you are more likely to be heavy too because of genes and culture... The fact that the introduction of "american" or "western" diet and lifestyle to…

You could try watching this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9B7im8aQjo But if you're like those kids, it won't work :) I just think about pink slime and then I can't eat fast food meat. Still trying to figure out some aversion technique for french fries...

I think it's just leafy green and cruciferous (like broccoli) that you can't have with coumadin, right? Are green beans ok? Your doctor knows best about that, I am sure. I think carrot, tomato, and maybe more fruits than other people would eat would be good?
