  • Welcome! As others have mentioned you can lose weight without exercising. I commend you on your effort. If you are able to lose a bit now you may find it a little easier to start moving once you have the go ahead to do so. Losing just 5% of my starting weight helped make it a little easier for me to get up on my feet when…
  • Spending a few days in Lake Placid with the grandsons this week. I've definitely been eating off plan but doing a lot of walking and still eating much less than I would have 2 years ago. Missing my normal aerobic workouts though. We took the gondola to the top of little Whiteface Mountain today. A little scary but the view…

  • Hi everyone! It's been quite awhile since I last posted so thought I would check in. Looks like there are quite a few new participants in this discussion, which is so great!! I love to hear from others our age who are taking care of their health and getting fit. As a reintroduction, I am currently 61 years old and began my…

  • When I first started using my fitness tracker in Feb '22 I had about 131K steps for the month. Last month, May '23, I had 295K steps for the month. My measured exercise time has more than doubled, from 27 hours to 59 hours. I started buying ladies size medium/10 a couple months ago but they were still a little snug. Now…
  • Congrats to all the winning losers last week!
  • It figures! After requesting to be moved to the support team for June because I hit a plateau and felt I needed a break after 17 months, i stepped on the scale yesterday to make sure I wasn't gaining and was down 2.6 lbs in 1 week! I think this shows that plateaus aren't always a bad thing.

Hoping that after my body adjusts to this new lower weight when I start back up I can lose the last 15 or so lbs. Could I please be moved to the support team starting in June? Thanks!
  • Congratulations! Such a huge accomplishment!! When I started exercising 16 months ago I had to do seated workouts, 10 minutes was my max even though I was sitting. I recall the first time I was able to complete a full 30 minute aerobics workout on my feet without stopping to sit and catch my breath. The feeling was so…
  • Welcome! I just passed 500 days of tracking and I'm down 72 pounds, with 10-15 more to lose. Everyone is different so what worked for me may not work for you, but you could play around with the numbers some to see what does. The main thing is consistency. I have my calorie goal set to 1200 per day but I exercise daily and…
  • Someone posted this link https://www.smartbmicalculator.com/ in another group, The main differences are: "This calculator functions on the basis of the newly developed Smart Body Mass Index. • @mtaratoot Thanks for the Smart BMI link! Now it makes sense why my body has started fighting me against losing more weight. The smart BMI calculation has me at the high end of the green BMI range with low health risk. I still want to lose another 2-3 inches from my waist to reduce my risk of health problems even more, but…
  • I planted my garden yesterday. It's heavy work and for the past several years I had to split it into multiple days and even with that, my back would have been killing me. Did it all yesterday with just a couple 10 minute breaks and no back pain!
