  • Are you doing strong lifts 5x5? that's what i just started after 6 weeks of insanity...
  • 1400 calories is not a lot. I would download my fitness calculator for your phone and run the tests to determine what your calorie intake should be. If you eat too little then you will retain. i'm doing insanity and lost 4 lbs in 4 weeks. I drink a LOT of water tho!
  • I find tracking on teambeachbody.com really helpful. if you skip a day and have set an auto schedule, then you can write in a "gap" and it will move the workout to the next day you schedule it for while moving all the other workouts as well. If you were only on day 3 when you got sick, i'd suggest you start over and BRING…
  • Fruits are good for you but you should probably not eat two a day if you are trying to lose weight. I would also focus on what kindof fruit you are eating. High GI fruits will still spike your insulin (i.e. banana) but berries won't (low GI) you can google the difference between hi and low GI fruits for more info. Also, I…

  • Guiness is actually the BEST beer for you to drink if you are trying to watch your weight and you plan to have a drink....and it's not a light beer in color but it is light on sabotaging your diet. True!
  • LOL I'm having a beer right now and I'm primarily paleo so NO GRAINS! Beer is one thing that has been difficult to give up because my husband and I like to do what you're doing - sit out, relax and have a beer. My philosophy is that you should not deprive yourself which is why I'm having a beer....having said that, I will…
  • My coworkers order chinese food at least 2 times a week and they ALL complain about their weight. I laugh. It's so funny to me because they get fed up and then ask ME for advice on how to lose weight, then they fall off the wagon and so goes the vicious circle for them. I've found that even when they ask me for advice…
  • Check out this program - stronglifts.com 5x5 I just switched to TDEE and this program. I haven't gained any weight in fact today I lost 1.5 lbs. It's really easy to do and you won't have to spend a lot of time in the gym.
  • This is just not true! Why would fruit be bad for you? Fruit is fine to eat but it does matter when you eat it. You should eat low GI fruits (google this) for weight loss and can eat it anytime - berries, apples, etc. - as they do not spike your insulin. Eat higher GI fruits around intense workouts, either right before…
  • I agree with this. Walking for over 2.5 miles only burns 200 cals or so when I do it at a 3.0 moderate pace....If you don't have a hrm, then don't track your exercise cals and just eat at your plan. Also, try cutting grains.
  • Interested in your stronglifts plug. I just started the program. Did you get those abs from stronglifts?!? If so, sign me up! LOL
  • I just started a lifting program that my husband has been doing himself. It's exactly that - low reps, high weight. I JUST started so I can't really give you any feedback but you can friend me and watch my diary and progress if you want to. For the past few months, I've been doing a lot of cardio - spinning, running, and I…
  • ...and balance out sodium intake!
  • Google low GI fruits and eat those anytime. This will keep your insulin spikes low. Pineapple is great for digestion. I would eat most fruit that is NOT low GI at night as dessert.
  • There should be a function on the device that does it for you. I have a garmin with a HRm and I just go into history and it tells me my average HR and cals burned for the duration.
  • Feel free to friend me. I'm 38 almost 39.
  • Try the paleo diet. it's high in fat and protein. Keeps you full for longer and you can stay on your calories. it eliminates grains and dairy for the most part so if you're eating those and like it, then it won't work for you. I find that when I drink water I'm actually hungrier but I guess you're just going to have to…
  • Doesn't work. i've been taking it for months now...nothing. What DOES work is Tonalin CLA at least 3000 mg. Check it out.
  • If you feel ok, then I think it's ok to exercise. As you get more in the program and your body gets used to the workouts, you'll want to keep going. I don't intentionally take a rest day because life sometimes gets in the way of me doing the program anyway, so I just go until I have to miss one day or too tired or…
  • There is a book called "The Carb Lover's Diet" that came out a few years ago. I've read it. I think it's worth the read. It's the reason why I don't feel guilty eating real potato chips. You should check it out. i found it helpful.
  • Hit enter by accident :/ See my second post.
  • I was going to recommend you get new shoes, not running shoes, as they tend to push your foot forward slightly.
  • I wouldn't pause the dvd...just keep going and do more the next time. I track my "intensity" thorugh the heartrate monitor. It will show more calories burned when you're really working hard. Personally, I always though I was working really hard until the day when I burned almost 100 calories more. The longer you do the…

  • Best fat burn workout is WALKING on treadmill at 13-15% incline....keeps your heartrate consistently in your fat burn zone.
  • Cut dairy completely and high GI fruits until your weight comes down. Switch to complex carbs. Should see a difference in about 2 weeks.
  • Same here - had a weight plateau - took my measurements - lost inch in my waist and 1 inch in my hips - I don't even do Insanity everyday!!!
  • that is exactly what I do. I usually eat the same ingredients but in different combinations so it's easy to throw everything together in the food diary. I changed my settings to select from "frequent" to allow me to easily pick the foods/brands I eat the most. I log it after I've cleaned dinner up...really worth it. I also…
