Thanks for stating this. As a newbie to OMAD (but not IF), I have noticed that it "seems" connected mostly to ketogenic diets. Thanks for clarifying! :)

Awesome, a group for 50+! Happy Friday everyone! Feel free to add me. :)

So glad it's Friday! Feel free to add me!

I'm plant-based (not vegan or vegetarian, once in a rare blue moon I'll have a little meat, cheese, egg), and my daily protein goal is not high, but I use a plant-based protein powder to supplement and make sure I'm getting enough protein. That being said, I wouldn't even use half a scoop, and I add it to my daily green…

Well, it is Friday after all! ;)

"Oh please", she said laughingly at his attempt.

T'wern't me. Anyway, of course I wouldn't mean that any advice contrary to what the OP wants would be "bad mannered". I would sincerely hope that goes without saying. There's bad advice, and then there's bad mannered advice.

I wasn't aware that people who take 10 minutes to mix up some ingredients and bake it were in the minority. Interesting.
-
Impractical to you maybe.
-
To answer your question: nope.

I would do this: NOTHING!! Do your usual thing, and enjoy your time with your friend, overinduldging even! It's what we do MOST of the time that effects our goals. One or two nights of letting your hair down isn't going to hurt you. Just make sure you go right back to what's working after the fun is a lovely memory. Just…

Here's my first proposal: it's always best to pay no attention to any nit-pickety bad-mannered "advice". You don't have to explain or justify yourself to anyone. I love sweets, so I eat sweets daily, it's just that I make homemade desserts made with whole natural ingredients. For example, black bean brownies sweetened with…

I'm a cash supervisor at a grocery store. Believe me, the majority of the people live on pre-packaged and processed foods. The area I live and work in is not low-income, so they aren't making these choices based on finances. Even so, I do think people are slooooowly making better choices as the years roll by (emphasis on…

Agreed, so not surprising! All the more reason to champion choosing real food over unnatural ones. What you eat DOES make a difference.

I just jumped right in for the first time today, I'm sure us newbies are more than welcome! :)

I'm a late comer, but what a fantastic thread! Just for today 2/26: 1. Stick to my net calorie goal 2. Log everything 3. Not add unplanned junk food at the end of the day (and not log it!) 4. Burn an extra 150 calories 5. Drink lots of water

Howdy neighbour, I'm in NB! Feel free to add me if you want.

This doesn't address your question, but I've been reading up about having a certain "eating window" (an 8 hour window is common), and how many people with digestive issues etc. found that incorporating some form of intermittant fasting vastly reduced their IBS symptoms. You might find this thread interesting:…

Ignore the criticism Valencia, if you sift through the responses, there have been some great suggestions. Like others have mentioned too, if you're not hungry, there's nothing wrong with postponing eating until you get a proper break. Boiled eggs were a great idea though!

Yup, those last 10lbs are hard to budge, I'm right there with ya! My strategy right now is to eat 1200 but burn 200 calories through exercise, so basically I want to have a net of 1000 at the end of the day. Hopefully with that, and eating healthy and drinking lots of water, it'll come off.

Aww, it's so sweet when fellas stick together. What were we talking about again?
-
Says you.

Bring it on! Actually no, I don't particularly like poo. B)

The voice of reason...how refreshing! You rock!

That's it, I'm adding you as a friend right now! B)

All. The. Time. I'm closer to 5'7", I'm 131lbs, which is a healthy weight for my age, but it's ALL around my middle and makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm much more comfortable (and can wear whatever I want!) at the very bottom of what's considered my healthy weight range (though I plan to build back up with weight training…

You're priceless, and possibly 7 years old. :p

Where oh where is the common sense here? Silly me for thinking that it would be obvious to all that when one is talking about bad white carbs, they are referring to sugar, flour, refined stuff, maybe potatoes (though I think they are fine for you if plain baked). And who would think that brown sugar is good for you because…

I was referring to some above statements that eliminating white foods would include caultiflower, eggs, dairy....which is silly thinking. Of course cauliflower isn't included, it's a cruciferous vegetable and is awesome for you.

This is a good point, but for those of us who eat for optimal health and stick to only nutrient dense foods, the following insight is very interesting: Source: Metabolic Rate: the slower the better
