Nah, honestly when I was lifting I thought I was really, really strong.... I had no idea how weak I actually was until I started bodyweights. So yes I suppose you could say they were two separate experiences! =)

The obvious! I take a water pill if it's really bad, or I drink lots of green tea. But stay very well hydrated when using diuretics or you will just make it worse.

Hey everyone! Happy New Year! Just wanted to bump and post a reminder that you don't need to get a gym membership to achieve your goals. Good luck :) And here's some progress pics -

Bumping to say I increased my max reps of pull ups today and really dang happy about it! I keep getting stronger every day. :p

If you can't do holds or negatives I would definitely try to find a place where you can do something similar to an Australian pullup like here (at 15 seconds in): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5awp7uAem3k I wasn't able to do a pull up at first, and not for many months! It definitely should be a long term goal for most…

After 3 days? And I'll just leave this here for fun: http://www.healthylivingheavylifting.com/how-clean-eating-made-me-fat-but-ice-cream-and-subway-got-me-lean/

Thanks for the bump! Reposting blog link too for those wanting more detailed info: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/fourfiftythree/view/calisthenics-roadmap-a-list-of-resources-to-get-started-with-bodyweight-strength-training-694338

That's so nice of you! I really appreciate it. I have a tendency to go inactive on the forums when I get busy - so a group would probably just die if I were left in charge of it. If someone else wants to start one I'd be more than happy to join - OR I'm always willing to help anyone out the best I can via PM! I'm…

Here ya' go! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/fourfiftythree/view/calisthenics-roadmap-a-list-of-resources-to-get-started-with-bodyweight-strength-training-694338 Scroll about half way down for the resources, everything else is tl;dr stuff. Thanks again so much guys! I'm so ecstatic to see others getting excited about…

Both of those listed in OP are excellent honestly! Convict Conditioning is my favorite book. It has some "fluff" to it, but it is probably the best and most thorough progression for beginners.

This is weighing heavily on my mind because I'm about to send my 2 year old to a toddler pre school thing next week. She stays home with me, so this will be her first time being around other kids in a setting like that. It's only an hour long, so I'm wondering if it's even worth it to take the risk.

I don't know much about Paul Wade's life (he has done maybe 2 short interviews for publicity and never allows anyone to photograph him), but one thing is for sure - he is the real deal. I felt the same way when I read the book. Thanks - she is my shadow and is quite fearless! She follows along with me while I'm working…

By day, a professional nerd (web developer, coder extraordinaire) - and by night, somewhat of a closet nerd. I play newer games occasionally but love the classics more than anything. I used to code mods for Morrowind back when I thought I wanted to design video games. Still love TES series and basically anything survival…

My grandma did this one... can't remember the name... where she got to eat one "normal" meal of a lean protein with vegetables once a day, and pre-packaged astronaut food the rest of the time. It was extremely low carb and low calorie. She lost more than 100 lbs and re-gained 150 after she went off the diet. While she was…

No, it sure doesn't! Wow, really? Thanks! I'll admit I hit the pushups hard and fast right off the bat, because they were so much easier for me. I still struggle with bar calisthenics at times. Nice flag! I was practicing mine this morning at the park. =P Ha! So true. Had my fair share of *eyerolls*. This is something that…

I received a lot of messages asking for some guidance, so I am going to put together a roadmap for beginners (and I'll post it when I'm done) - in the meantime, consider downloading one the books I linked in the OP (they are available in eBook format), or these are good also: https://www.marklauren.com/ (You are Your Own…

Sorry, missed your question! My strength and agility workouts range from 25 minutes to 45 minutes. I did assisted pull ups with a chair for a long time, and sometimes I still use a band if I am sore/tired. No shame in that! They are the hardest move to master for women, I truly believe. Up until now, I ate TDEE -20% -…

I agree, p90x was one of the first programs I did when I started losing weight. It is certainly well rounded. It is also what introduced me to yoga and I could not live without yoga in my routine now. Thanks for all your comments!

I've yet to step foot in a gym. =)

You're so nice! I know, I'm hard on myself........ but I can pull the skin on my stomach out a good 4 inches from my body. It's a fun parlor trick, but it's annoying more than anything. Because I'm CERTAIN that there are some nice abdominal muscles under there. I just want to see them!

Bodyweight circuits are the bodyweight exercises I have put together, and I do them "circuit" style (back to back). My first calisthenics day of the week is usually upper body and core, and my second calisthenics day is usually lower body. A circuit for my upper body day might look something like this: Spider pushups x25…

Thank you so much for your comments! It's great to be able to encourage others. =)

First thing I do when I wake up is chug about 20oz. of water, then sip coffee, THEN I eat about 1-2 hours after waking. My breakfast is mostly protein and fat with a little bit of carbs and somewhere around 350-450 calories.

I think you just have to balance them with the right top. I wear mine with peplum.

Great job.

You look so good!

I use the bacon grease to fry my eggs and pancakes. =)

Probably around $800 for a family of 3, but that includes everything we buy at the store.... diapers, wipes, bed and bath products etc. And it is 3 square meals a day for all 3 of us - we don't eat out as I prepare everything from scratch.
-
I have an electric skillet/griddle which is one of the best things I've ever bought - I just pull it out, set it to highest temp (40 degrees) and it heats up in about 90 seconds. I throw a couple of bacon slices on and they take about 2 minutes each side, then add 2 eggs and they take about 2 minutes each side... I eat it…

Yep!
