  • I am noticing after two days that my burns during spin classes come in lower than my HRM shows but my overall daily burn is higher by approximately 200 calories, which would explain why I was able to lose weight by eating just slightly lower than the burn number my One was giving me. I am getting the feeling that this…
  • @karen11g - I am interested to see how it performs in spin class too, since I spin 5x week using my Polar FT4. I was hoping it would make the HRM with the yucky chest strap obsolete. I received my Charge HR last night so this morning was my first time using it for exercise. I wore the Polar and the Charge HR…
  • I'm 49 and in the best shape of my life. I weight train using the New Rules of Lifting program 2 days per week, and spin/cycle for 60 - 80 minutes on non-lifting days. Almost every day I take a 40 - 60 mintute walk, just because I like to move!
  • Great link to the article on the Female Athelete Triad, Heybales. Thank you! I have certainly found it true for myself that I need to eat WAY more than I ever thought I could with the plus that I'm building muscle, getting measurably stronger, have more endurance than ever AND am losing fat (slowly). Keeping good track of…
  • Great info on this thread - thanks all! I lift 2x week and spin on my non-lifting days as recovery and it seems to work for me very well.
  • Just chiming in that I completely agree with HeyBales and AnitraSoto's posts! Too much exercise leads to exhaustion and no weight loss for me, too. I have to be careful not to overdo since I'm an exercise zealot, too. Resting and eating right (very close to accurate TDEE) always results in weight and inches lost (for me).
  • Thanks for the encouragement to keep going~I really appreciate it. I am feeling a little boring, but am not BORED yet. Will take a look at Supercharged when and if that happens. I'm taking a week break before I tackle the last phase again -it's a doozy! Why haven't I been in this thread before? There's so much information…
  • Hello fellow strong-women! I am nearing the end of doing all of NROL4W the second time around. Does anyone think there is anything wrong with going through it for a third time? I really like the program, finally feel like I know what I'm doing and am getting some good results (shape-wise and strength-wise). I was…
  • You could be pretty far off, yes, in my opinion. When I did my reset in late 2012, it drove me crazy not really "knowing" my TDEE but I managed to get through two plus months of reset and not gain more than four pounds. I went from eating about 1200 calories to about 1900 calories. What helped me tremendously (and is still…
  • "I can do this" and "I am strong"
  • Thanks for the reply, cmeirun. I would probably be doing only 2 days a week lifting, though. I guess if I dropped spin class I could do three. I am really wanting to enjoy all the foods of the fall winter seasons so I may just go for it!
  • I am still confused and hopefully someone here can straighten me out! I would like to bulk but I need to be clear about this before I commit to gaining fat back when I feel like I just got rid of it! I get that we need to eat at a surplus to gain muscle mass (plus fat) and that we need to lift heavy, but how many times a…
  • Following because OP, you look incredible! I've been thinking of bulking too but think my bf% is too high (22%) and I've just gotten back to feeling really good about my weight and I don't want to feel "fat" again! Head trip. Anyhow, looking forward to following your progress.
  • Another vote for the Vitamix! I use it everyday and love it to pieces! (7 year warranty and great customer service, too!)

  • I reset for 8 weeks last fall, starting at 116 (netting below my BMR every day and gaining every time I went over, thus the reason for the reset) and ended at 121 in December. Since then I have lost weight slowly on a 10% cut and am now at 114. I eat at TDEE quite frequently - so I'm averaging about 1900 calories/day. I'm…
  • Hi there, Just wanted to give you my support - I am at a size (5'3", 114 lbs.) where anyone would say "why do you want to lose weight?" but my goal is 111 and I maintain that I can get there eventually. I can't imagine how hard it must be to work in your industry and not look the way everyone "expects" you to look. Plus…
  • Device: Fitbit Daily Average Burn: 2000 Workout schedule: 45 mins - 1 hr. lifting 3x week, spinning 45 mins 2-3 week, daily 20-30 min walking Gender F Age 48 Weight 115 Is your weight/body composition trend indicating accuracy of the device? I've been losing about 1/2 lb. per week for the last month by eating on average…
  • For me and many others, it's the only way to really get the "shape" I want . Lifting heavy weight is certainly not required, but bodyweight exercises at least will maintain and build more muscle which is always the goal, especially as we get older. (Squats, pushups, lunges, etc.) You don't have to go crazy with it.

  • This exact situation happened to me yesterday! lol I don't usually skip anything in the program but I skipped my third plank yesterday. It was just torturous!!

  • I finished stage 3 today and I really loved it - even those dreaded YWTLs. I couldn't believe how hard it was to lift a 5lb weight in that combination! I read about how it targets the smaller muscles, so I felt better about the tiny weights and enjoyed it more, knowing I was helping my shoulders get stronger. The Body…

  • So great! I remember regaining that long-lost feeling of well-being, too, after months of cutting calories way too low. Eating enough is a very good thing! Even now, on my tiny 10% deficit, I find myself crabby if I am a little hungry.
  • I finished stage 2 yesterday and am actually sad to see it go! I started out uneasy about it and ended up loving it because it took a lot more focus and balance. The HIIT at the end of workout B was a great addition, though I didn't always look forward to it because I already do spin classes 2-3 times per week, but I can…
  • @ bettyeditor - Terrific that you're taking so well to eating at TDEE! I would say that if you haven't gained yet (and even lost!), you haven't found your true TDEE threshold - that fine line that we all strive to find. If you've only been at this a week or so, keep going with what you're doing and increase by 100-200…
  • When I was resetting last fall I experienced all of this - the increase in body temperature, the better sleep, the realization that gaining weight is not an overnight thing! You gotta really try to do it after you stabilize! Last summer I was on a low calorie diet and wondered why I was so cool all the time when everyone…
  • Hi:smile: Do the reset. I am now on a good trend again after resetting for 8 weeks last fall. Nobody but me would say I should lose fat or weight but I am vain.:ohwell: I want to look the way I want to look and I know it is possible for me because without any conscious effort I maintained at my *goal* weight for several…

  • Such good stuff here! SO glad to see all these successes!
