  • Yoga? Swimming? Pool walking?
  • Hi! Rejoining. I live in 55+ community that offers dozens of classes, great places to walk, and a 26 meter swimming pool one mile (walking distance) from our house. Love it here! Exercise is NOT the problem. Too much eating out and socializing is my problem! Hope this group is active and involved!! (I am 73 but feel like…
  • I am using almond milk, which is 60 calories a cup. Is that as healthy as milk? Also, when I was on Weight Watchers, a smoothie counted as more points than fruit and milk or yogurt as it lacked fiber. Can I safely count the calories if I measure everything correctly?
  • Curious to see if this board is still active. I would like to have a group to share my weight loss journey. I turn 69 in less than a month, am very active, track food, but have difficulty losing. Want to lose 15-20 pounds.
  • imarrcuss...Thanks for posting on my conversation. Sounds like you are doing everything right but the carbs!
  • Thank you to all for your insight. Still tracking...even though not home and not in controll as I am “on vacation.” All your advice isvhelpful! Need more MFP friends, so feel free to connect. Shapcomp
  • Yes, doctor is next. I was 15 pounds thinner in September, and he was pretty happy with my weight then.
  • So if I am tracking and measuring and exercising and not still not losing weight, what can I do?
  • I am back...four years later. I have been tracking since December, and have a 43 day streak going. Sticking to 1300 calories a day and usually exercise 1.5 hours a day (swimming, walking, aerobics.) No weight loss in 43 days. I bounce up a couple of pounds after Chinese food or after a cruise. Lose that. Then see no…
  • Whoops! I was a little off! I had done 89 for this week! I actually biked 418 miles this month between the stationary bike (49) and the outdoor bike (369)! Logged in every day, kept below my calories required. Total weight loss: -.8. Yep! I gained weight! Any suggestions???
  • Just saw this thread after getting off my road bike! I've logged 99 miles for the month so far, so I guess I am on track!
  • I agree! Thanks, Buyer! Note that we are the only two who are responding!! (LOL)
  • How about getting a new shirt or pants or dress or something that shows off your weight loss? Maybe you're buried in clothes that don't show it!
  • I kept to 1200 calories and drank at least six glasses of water. And I haven't given up even I haven't lost a pound in four weeks.
  • Anything sweet! And ice cream!!! I love ice cream! However, I measure and add to MFP immediately so I have accounted for the splurge. Then I brush and floss my teeth so I don't want to eat any more! My dentist loves me!
  • If I was stuck on a deserted island and had only one thing to eat for the rest of my life, it would be VANILLA ICE CREAM!!!! I am so on board with you guys! But bacon ice cream??? I don't even eat real bacon!!! Maybe cuz I love Miss Piggy too much???
  • Upstate New York, where it is 41 degrees with wind gusts up to 50 mph!!!!
  • Thank you ! Thank you! I am in the same boat. MFP says I should be eating 1200, but I burn up to 700 calories a day biking (90 minutes @ 11 mph), staionary biking (60 minutes @ 12 mph) or walking 90 minutes at 3.5 miles per hour. I am so afraid to add all those calories, as I am not losing anyway. And when I have extra…
  • Wow! Look at all the new members! How cool! Will check in often!
  • Hi...Thanks for the post. I have been eating the Shirataki Noodles ALOT but wanted to cut down on them as I have heard too much tofu isn't good for you (remember when tofu was considered a way to prevent breast cancer????). Sounds like a great alternative.
  • I belong to PJL Faebook page and look forward to it every day! Now how can we relate this My Fitness Pal?
  • Welcome Holly! I am also retired! Have you figured this out yet? I am still trying, but I did email people to ask to friend them. Now I need to figure out if I need to invite them.
  • Do you have an Ipod or some other kind of music to take with you? I have a playlist of really lively songs I love to listen to when I walk so I enjoy my time.
  • I am a new member and just got friended by msslimann (my first friend!) I am from Upstate New York. Retired educator, 61 years old, and very active! My husband and I love to travel, and we also are avid bikers (the pedaling kind!) I've lost 11+ pounds since last year, and I am about 15 to 20 pounds over my ideal weight. I…
  • I think I am a new member too! I am from Upstate New York. Retired educator, 61 years old, and very active! My husband and I love to travel, and we also are avid bikers (the pedaling kind!) I've lost 11+ pounds since last year, and I am about 15 to 20 pounds over my ideal weight. I have been successful with Weight Watchers…
  • Wow! Amazing! According to MFP, I burned 900 calories between 60 minutes of biking at 16 mph and an hour weight work out. If I added that to my 1200 and went up to 2100, I am sure I would be twenty pounds heavier in two months!!
  • Thanks. I was just reading another forum, and a heart rate monitor was recommended as being better than the MFP website. Do you agree?
  • Whoops! I meant I do strength training three times a week! The other exercises are cardio!
  • Hi...I just started MFP and I have the same question/concern. I exercise almost daily, alternating between five mile walks, 15 to 20 on stationery bike, or 20-25 on outdoor bike. I also do cardio three times a week. However, if I add the 400-600 calories to my daily goal of 1200, I am sure I won't lose. Case in point: last…
