2012 Cannondale Synapse 5, tried more expensive bikes but this one just fit me well...

The answer is what Kjosey1 said...just focus on total in v. total out. I think generally you can say that carbs get stored as glycogen in the muscles (once you exceed that it is converted to fat) and fat is stored as fat. When you exercise to the point that you burn through your glycogen store, your body starts using your…

Depending what you eat, you may actually be 2 or 3 pounds heavier due to water retention. If you get back on the plan the next day, it will go away in a day or two. That's my experience anyway. I would not obsess over it. It's ok to eat a little more every now and then so that you stay on your plan for the long term. What…

During the week if not traveling, it is Quaker high Fiber oatmeal with frozen blueberries added after stirred up and a greek yogurt before I go to the gym. Then it is usually a Pure Protein bar at mid-morning and sometimes a banana as well. On the weekends, I indulge in Quaker Steel Cut Oats and add fruit (takes 25 minutes…

I would recommend starting here: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/MY00431 Even without exercising, I would take in 1800 calories minimum per day as the Mayo site suggests it is the minimum to ensure adequate nutrition for a man. I would also recommend trying to hit 55% from complex carbs, 25 to…

I would lay off those things, the fiber comes from chicory root. Just sayin... http://www.urbanmonarch.com/fiber-one-chewy-bars-stomach-problems-gas/ You can get plenty of fiber from fruit and vegetables. Try Clif bars. Not as much fiber but I would say they are better for you :)

I'm training for a 10k right now, but looking to do a sprint tri later in the year. I need to take swimming lessons to get some feedback on my technique....

You did the hard part getting started. Just make a commitment to write everything down you eat and weigh in once a week for 4 weeks. It will all take care of itself :)

I'll be glad to give you guys a good swift kick when you need it along with some gunny-style words of encouragement :) Add me at your own risk of being encouraged to take a trip to mamby-pamby land to get a handful of encouragement, lol

I saw an article in runner's world for a company selling dvd's of trails and other running courses that you can play while you are on the treadmill. Has sound too, so you could be running in Hawaii, etc. I think pairing that with a big tv and surround sound would be the ultimate home set-up :) It has given me a new idea…

It will go away once you become accustomed to it. I moved to a different type elliptical one day and it came back because the angle was slightly different and I was not used to it. I think it might be that some of the supportive muscles in the your feet and ankles need to build up a bit (but that's my theory)

Just commit to writing it down on MFP everyday for 4 weeks. I think you will find you will have no problem holding yourself accountable and will be making different decisions easily once you see a little success (and have people asking you what you're doing because they want the secret too :)).

Tell him you have plenty of candidates lined up :)

I'm down to an A :)

I do Thursday mornings and Sunday mornings. It's easier for me to stay focused on a few days at a time for some reason. More often than that and I think you are just seeing water fluctuations.

Making your own is probably best. My grocery store carries two types of Jennie O brand turkey burgers. The one I like the best is made from white meat and is 190 cal/burger and pretty filling. My favorite thing to do with them through is to eat with brown rice and a concoction I make with black beans, chunky-style salsa,…

I like Chobani too. Just make sure to get the non-fat ones if you looking to cut fat out. The labels are very similar. Also like the Fage plain ones (Total 0% and 2% depending on what they have in the store). I add a teaspoon of honey.

I like my turkey burger surprise with black beans, but these recipes are so good, I'm afraid to post it!

GNC, there is usually one close to Wal-Mart where I live anyway...supposedly the "true cold milled" variety is what you want to get.
-
I put 2 tablespoons (cold milled kind) into Quaker high fiber oatmeal. I am usually in a rush in the mornings so the instant oatmeal is a good option for me.

I just want to encourage you ladies to keep posting pictures  I have been thinking I would like to be built like Sting or Daniel Craig, but I have a large frame so we'll see how close I can get by next Christmas...

I'm inviting myself to dinner at your house!

Especially the groats. I saw some links for buckwheat groats and saw some comments where you have to sprout them if raw, so do you get them already roasted? I know nothing about this kind of stuff as you can probably tell!

The goats and hummus grabbed my attention. Got any links or more tips to share?

Great job on your transformation!!!

If you just need HRM, stick with Polar stuff. I think the Garmin watches are great for runners but cost a little more to have GPS and HRM capabilities. I lot of the cardio machines out on the market have the Polar logo on them next to the heart rate indicator. You can replace the Polar belt and transmitter too, so…

http://www.cookinglight.com/ I'm sure you could find things off this site that are healthy, taste good, and are relatively easy to prep and store for multiple meals. I look for dishes with a good amount of complex carbs and high fiber (I like black beans for example). I was never into cooking but have gotten more and more…

I had to buy bagels and muffins for a meeting recently. I did not eat any of it and just thought to myself "the more they eat, the skinnier I look!" I actually trying to push muffins and bagels on people. If they only knew :)

Thanks for posting the links. I am getting into running now....
