BUMP for later.

That is awesome. I am so glad you shared!

I would LOVE to be that fast. My husband & son-in-law did that race 2 years ago. I hope to do it next year with my sister! GREAT JOB, even though it wasn't what you aspired to!

I was in Rocky Point this weekend for a sprint tri - my first tri in about 2 years - post peroneus tendon rupture/surgery/re-rupture/surgery/unrepairable re-rupture. My re-entry into the tri world was way less spectacular than Lance Armstrong's. LOL. It was a 400 meter ocean swim, 18 mile bike & 5K. It took me 2:21:51 &…

I only wear mine if I finish the race, especially an Ironman or 1/2 Ironman race. Unless the shirt says contributor or volunteer, it needs to be earned (just my opinion).

I suggest you spend some more money & get your HR zones evaluted by a trainer. I had the New Leaf testing done & it was an eye opener. The calories according to the New Leaf website & my Garmin match pretty closely. If I go by what MFP says, I would get an extra 100 calories for each 30 minutes.

I just tried "island boost" at the RnR Las Vegas. It tastes great & is thinner than most gels - also comes in a 55 calorie package.

I am 54, just ran a 5K this morning & my max heart rate was 179. Everyone is different. The 220 - age is just an average.

I am also an addict & don't plan on giving it up. I am old enough to have started drinking Diet Coke when it first came out and drink a 6 pack a day. I have also had my bone density scan done & I am above normal. Kind of blows that theory, huh? Yes, I do have indigestion but that seems to be directly rated to monthly…

Getting an aero tri bike fit is totally different from a road bike. Also, most large group rides of cyclists do not "like" aerobars in the pack. There are also many different "types" of bike fitters. Just get one that listens to what you want. I have a road bike, tri bike, mountain bike and a cruiser - and I ride all of…

I am 54 and regularly see the high 170s to low 180s while running - even as high as 200! The only true test for maximum heart rate would be a VO2 max test. Your gym might offer it.
-
My HRM always is less - running, walking or cycling. My HRM uses my weight, age, height & sex.

Also, the Amazon deal of the day is on a BodyMedia at a great price.
-
Body Bugg does not measure heart rate - it uses an accelerometer, heat flux sensor, galvanic skin response and skin temp. I think all of these could be thrown off environmental conditions (except the accelerometer).

To obtain the same pace on a treadmill, you must have an incline. The motor moves you. Outside, your pace does vary but it is the average that matters. Try running in the street (the bike lanes are great, just make sure you are running opposite traffic; that way you can get on the sidewalk as needed). If you just started,…

STOP feeling that way RIGHT now, young lady. You are doing great. There will be those weeks - mine was last week and my hubby practically had to shove me out the door to do my run on Saturday. WE will get through this. Chin up. My sister, versuga is her MFP name, is fighting the same thing today.:flowerforyou:

I watch mine on a weekly basis. If it all adds up and you are losing, I would guess it is ok.

WOW!

You need to go to a "running" store - not the ones in the mall. Go where they will look at your feet, put you in different shoes and have you run on a treadmill while they watch/tape you.

"That way if you exercise and earn more calories, carbs, protein and fat it will do the calculations for you" With zigzag dieting, you aren't supposed to add in any exercise calories. I have my base calories from MFP and just add in my zigzag calories by placing them under exercise (i just add how many extra I get for the…
