  • Same thing happened to me. My last period was back in July when hubby and I were vacationing in Mexico. Then nothing until mid March. And it was like the gates of hell were opened! It lasted for 8 days! Good grief! Haven't had any hot flashes in several months, but I've been taking black cohosh and Vit. B, so that may be…
  • Yay!! Way to go!
  • Love this post! Thanks for posting about how fabulous we 'seasoned' women are!
  • whoops..double post
  • No, you shouldn't run every day. You might think about cross training on non-running day and take one day of rest. You should consider following a 10k training plan. Here is a link to a 10k training plan for novices: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/51122/10K-Novice-Training-Program Good luck!
  • Have you been cleared by your doctor to run? If so, then you can run. I've used Hal's plans to train for all of my half marathons and both of my full marathons. He developed a 3 running-day-a week plan that might be a good fit for you. He used to call it novice 3...but I think he may have changed the name. It's longer than…
  • HI. I'm 53 (nearly 54) and am in week 4 of Ripped in 30. Yes, this it TOUGH, and I've been exercising regularly, some way or another, for the past 20 years or so. ( I HATED those darned mountain climbers.) Each morning, I wonder if Jillian intended this DVD for old grannies like me. I would say that the MOST important…
  • Yeehaaa! Way to go...keep up the great work!
  • Yep, I agree. I have been a runner for years, but bought the 30 day shred and ripped in 30 just to see how doing workout DVDs would work for me. I've seen great results so far...I finished the 30 day shred and am halfway through ripped in 30. Love it! Quick edit...I'm 53. Quite honestly, when I'm doing some of the moves in…
  • Way to go...you look fabulous!
  • Big Congrats to you!!!
  • I mix a scoop into my Greek yogurt in the morning after my workout.
  • I don't have a before pic....but my profile pic is my after pic. (I'm 53) I only lost a few pounds, but 2 inches from my waist and got rid of 'back fat', my arms have more definition...lots of improvement. It's so worth hanging in there. I'm now doing Ripped in 30. I'm on day 3 of level 2.
  • Like several others have said...don't start off too fast. It's so easy to get caught up in the race day excitement bolt off the starting line. Just hang back and pass those who started off too fast. Enjoy it...and may you run (and/or walk) like you have wings on your feet!! Report back and let us know how it goes!

  • Very cool!! That's a great NSV!
  • Last night, my hubby brought home a deep dish pizza...which I LOVE and he doesn't particularly care for. I had some...but it fit in my daily calories. He's told me that he thinks I'm getting too skinny. I know I'm not too skinny, I'm just getting rid of some of the excess blubber. And I reminded him I've only lost 7 pounds…
  • I did the 30DS each weekday morning, along with some interval running. On Saturday, I just run, and Sunday is rest or active rest. I finished the shred this week. Even this 53 year old lady saw noticeable results! On Monday, I'll start her Ripped in 30 DVD. I've been watching that as I run on my treadmill. Level 1 didn't…

  • This is great! Ya know...even when the kids grow up, they'll still look to you as a role model. My kids are now 22 and 27, don't live at home anymore, and still let me know about the healthy choices they are making regarding food and exercise!
  • I'd suggest going to your favorite running specialty store and find out what they recommend as a replacement for your shoe. Sounds like your new shoes are substantially different than your old model shoe. I HATE when they change up shoe models like that....it's hardly ever 'new and improved'.
  • Same thing going on with me. I work out 5-6 days a week, both strength and cardio, and count my calories. But the scale has stayed the same for 4 weeks now. BUT, most of my clothes are definitely BAGGY. In fact, I'm wearing a pair of pants today that are my one pair of 'skinny' dress slacks. And they fit fine. That was NOT…
  • Hubby is grilling some salmon and scallops. We'll have steamed sugar snap peas on the side.
  • Love Krispy Kreme...always stay away, though, can't open that flood gate. My daughter is getting married on May 25 in Montana on top of a mountain where her fiance proposed.
  • If I feel like I need flavor, I pop in a stick of mint gum to chew, then my water tastes minty as I drink it. Odd, I know, but it works for me.
  • That's even more impressive!!! Way to go!!!!
  • Excellent work...your hard work certainly has paid off! Well done!
  • Excellent! Keep up the great work!
  • Well done! Now go out and buy another pair of running pants as a reward!
  • I don't do the Shred on weekends. I run on Saturdays, though, and take Sunday as a rest day, or active rest like yard work or golf or something like that. I find that I start back on Mondays ready to Shred again, and stronger than on the previous Friday.
  • I'm at level 2 of 30DS and also a former distance runner, also with knee issues in my right knee. I'm 53. When I started 30DS, the jumping jacks killed my knees, but as I got deeper into the squats and lunges, it appeared that my knees got stronger. And interestingly, my knee pain is essentially gone. No pain during…
