My children gave me a Charge HR for Mother's Day, and I love it! Like others here, I love seeing the numbers. I haven't compared my HR numbers for the Charge to my Garmin w/chest strap, but based on what I've seen so far, I suspect it will be pretty close...at least close enough!

The last couple of years I had my period, it was very unpredictable. Sometimes heavy and like clockwork, other times spotty and arriving whenever it felt like. I suspect what you're going through is completely normal. My period finally did stop two years ago...yay!

Outstanding! Love your story! And you look great! I'm 55 and still wear a bikini. My hubby loves it, and usually is the one picking them out for me. I made my 28 year old daughter promise me that she will let me know when it's time for me to stop wearing bikinis, though... ;-)

I kinda always thought that it was "just math"..."calories in vs. calories out"...UNTIL I hit 55 and am now post menopausal. I eat well, and exercise daily, and have done so for many years. But my body wants to be much rounder and softer than it was even 5 years ago. Keeping weight off, and keeping 'things' from be coming…

I LOVE your story!! And of COURSE you can do that 5k!! You'll have a blast doing it!

That is soooo sweet! Thank you for sharing!

A total inspiration!!!

You've gotten excellent advice from all of the other posters. All runners go through slumps and have runs that really stink...even the elites. The important part is that you don't just give up. Keep lacing up your running shoes and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Just know that sometimes your runs won't be as…

Wow. I could have written your post. We are kindred spirits. I am guilty of every behavior you described. Like you, I feel addicted to sugar. It's funny, I have the discipline to get up and work out HARD 6 days a week before work, but I don't have the discipline to stay away from the vending machine and all of it's sweet…

Way to go!!! Well done!

Beautiful, inspiring, uplifting, amazing!! You, your story, hubby's support...all if it. Love it!!

My sister was 49 and had not yet had her first colonoscopy. She was diagnosed with stage 3 colo-rectal cancer. She went through radiation, chemo, surgery, more chemo, finally more surgery. Let's just say that the year 2012 really sucked for her. The good news is that she looks and feels fantastic now! The tumor had been…

The cool thing about working out early is that you have it DONE. My hubby leaves for work a little before 6 AM. I wake up when he does, pull on my exercise clothes, pack his lunch, kiss him goodbye and head upstairs to my exercise room. I work out for an hour, then get ready for work. I never have the excuse of "I had a…

Yay for us "old ladies"!! I'm 54 and work hard every day to not be a frumpy, fat old lady. It's not easy...but oh so worth it. My hubby also enjoys the results of my efforts! ;-).

I think I've gone as long as 8 months. Then had my period 1 month. This time around, it's up to 4 months without. The odd thing now is that my breasts are SOOOOO tender...like nothing I've ever experienced before. That's been going on for a couple of weeks. I'm certain that's hormone related. Good grief.

I absolutely keep clothes that are too small, unless they are unreasonably small. But I toss 'em if they are too big. I like knowing that if I gain weight back, then I'll have to go out and buy new clothes in a BIGGER size, which I would hate. But having the SMALLER size clothes around always motivates me!

Outstanding!!!

I'll go 6, 7, 8 months...then WHAM! And always at the worst times. My daughter is getting married at the end of May, so I'm certain it'll hit then.

I want to look great in my 'mother of the bride' dress at my daughter's wedding on May 25. (Profile pic me in the dress...the day I bought it looking very 'lumpy' and another one taken a few weeks ago...I've lost another couple of pounds since that last pic was taken)

Yay for you!!! Keep pushin!

I agree with everyone else. First make sure you get fitted for the appropriate shoes. Then, go home and put them on (along with comfy running-wear). Then step out the door. Often time, putting on shoes and stepping out the door is the hardest part. Once you are moving remember that you are going faster than all of the…

Wow...very interesting!

I've done the 30 day shred and ripped in 30 combined with my running. There is a pic in my profile that shows the end results of the 30 day shred.

Whenever I take a break from my normal workout routine, I find I'm anxious to get back to it...the break does my mind good. Just watch what you eat and take a walk to stay off the couch. Or do some home-based strength and cardio stuff for that week.

Way to go!!! Big congrats!! I have to warn you...once you complete a few half marathons, ya start to think that doing a full is a reasonable thing to do...and before you know it you've signed up for a full.... ;-)
-
Big congrats on all of your hard work and dedication! You look amazing and I'm sure you FEEL amazing, too! Well done!

I add a scoop of protein powder to my Greek yogurt each morning, and eat hard boiled eggs for lunch.

Yes, I agree. Integrate interval training once a week. Warm up with ~1 mile, then up your speed for ~400 meters, then slow down to recover for the same amount of time as it took you to run 400 meters. Repeat 4 times. run another mile or so for cool down. Over time, increase the number of repeats. This is a tough workout,…
