I will take any and all motivation. Day one at the gym today. I can do this - finally!

Hi, I'm Laura, and I am a gadget wh**e. I've been eyeing the FitBit; however, my gadget drawer is currently stocked full with multiple Nike+ watches and do-hickeys that haven't been charged since sometime last summer. However...if someone were to slip one onto my wrist, if it appeared on my desk, or someone who hasn't worn…

You are and will remain my inspiration and hero. I am honored to have you as my friend. Your smile says it all! Amazing, absolutely amazing.

I set my goal weight because of a bet site I'm involved in: Healthywage.com. Need to get to a healthy BMI in a year (<25), and 145 pounds is where my weight falls. However, the least I have ever weighed was 135 pounds and I liked how I felt/looked then. If I get there, fine. My main objective is to be healthy with less…

If you don't want an opinion, don't ask!

I like C25K and lolo

Have always been known as Big Lou, and I'm a Psych NP.

Starting C25K on the treadmill tomorrow; ran my last road race (first and last 10K) 18 years ago. Thanks for pointers on using incline to avoid shin splints. I'm really looking forward to this next step. I've been walking/piddle jogging for a couple of weeks and need something more challenging at this point. Need to get a…

I am a nurse - worked Trauma for a number of years. My weight had absolutely nothing to do with how I did my job - NOTHING. My coworkers and patients will tell you the exact same thing. Mind you I have worked with other nurses who are/were larger than me who could not do the job; was it because of their weight, mindset, or…

There are other types of beta blockers which will not have this side effect. Has she spoken with her doctor about the weight concern?
-
Men under yumm. Love it!!!
-
I'm just curious: If it works, why is your weight slider at 0 pounds lost? I'll stick with the tried and true method: less calories in, more calories expended.
-
Never have done a daily challenge; may regret it, but I have to start somewhere! Count me in!
-
Sounds like too few calories and your body is in survival mode! From past experience (and subsequent failures) I am anal about measuring every single thing - everything. I even measured out 1/16th of a cup of dried blueberries for my breakfast today. And water, water, water.
-
Thanks for reporting that there was no secret involved - the basics of watching what you eat and exercise. You are amazing, and an inspiration to me.
-
I hear you! Was so disappointed (there's another word I'd like to use, however....) when my mother mentioned something my younger sister said. She thought she was looking more like me - maybe because she is now happy (divorced), content, at peace? Nope, Mom said it because she is getting fat like me. Really? What the…

Okay look, you can add me if you want but I am far too old to be running for any reason other than a big hungry animal is chasing me. However, I do exercise with this chick Lolo on an app for the treadmill and I sometimes piddle-jog so I don't become a projectile. Seriously, I'd love to share in the motivation - this has…

Thanks for the peanutbutterutopia link. I really like PB2, and had no idea it would come with chocolate (HEAVEN!). I'm putting this on my list to order once my current jar runs low.
-
I was in a similar spot last night. I made Migas (recipe from Sisterhood of the Shrinking Jeans) for dinner - 400+ calories, had protein drink, and then some PB2 on a protein bar. I was STUFFED and still under in calories but didn't allow myself crap. My goal is to meet my daily calories (1300) and leave the calories…

@pudgeylou 24?

Great idea - we do the same! Plan ahead of time. Another idea is to order an appetizer instead of an entree. And think/order what isn't necessarily on the menu - like grilled vegetables, dressing on the side, etc. Like I've said before, you're paying for the food so ask if they will prepare it the way you'd like to eat it.…

What an awesome group of supporting people here! My first suggestion would have been meeting the calories. I, too, enjoy my glass of wine. I just enjoy it less frequently now. And, beating the dead horse with the watering hose.....water, water, water. Mindset is such a big part of this change; I don't remember eating…
-
I've noticed the same problem - however, I just started counting calories five days ago. I plan, when hit with a calorie deficit, to feed the chocolate addiction and enjoy a chocolate protein shake to catch up with the calories.

Anything handyman-ish. When we met, he said he couldn't do anything around the house but promised he'd pay someone to do whatever I needed done.

From "the Ville," Kirksville! However, now displaced in Texas.

49 years old, 100 to lose. It's about the mind set and desire. Slow and steady wins the race. I, too, have fought with my weight all my life. My changing moment was hearing my younger sister (she's 43) tell our Mom she thought she looked more like me each day to which Mom replied, "It's cause you're fat." Nice, eh? Not…

I had hoped to buy a set and ship to daughter stationed in Alaska. Groupon won't ship there; I don't think Mom will mail them after I see them!! May need to order another set at that price!
