  • OMG - penny's just dropped... (slaps forehead with hand) Bit slow on the uptake today, obviously need a drink...
  • a codicil: if you're a Brit, under 30, or over 40 but think you're under 30, it's a pre-requisite to go out drinking wearing make-up that weighs more than the clothes on your back, especially if you come from the north-east, or the north-west...
  • OK, I'll play this game! Several reasons I think. Firstly, there are a lot of pubs in cities, especially London. Up until recently (using a UK time frame), i.e. about late 19th century, it wasn't safe to drink the water in cities, so everyone drank ale, or beer. In major cities like London, it's common to leave work and…
  • ^^^ Bah ha ha ha! Love you lots!
  • I'm with you all the way Lynne! (and well done for your loss). Me, I've not only travelled, but lived overseas, ranging from a few months up to four years - Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, the Middle East, every major country in Europe and yes, most of the USA and Canada, including some pretty remote…
  • :flowerforyou:
  • I wondered whether anyone on here was watching it. I was ironing and couldn't be bothered to change channels, even though I found it very sad. (although I did love the sisters - "ooh Greggs! we loved Greggs! sausage rolls, pies, pasties, doughnuts, and McDonalds, chinese, kebabs...!"). That primary school teacher who spoke…
  • I don't think I've ever been 'upset' by a celeb's death. Shocked, definitely, sad, maybe. Those that went too young - Diana (although the outpouring of 'grief' afterwards was waaaay OTT). Amy W. (sad because so inevitable, and avoidable). Steve Irwin. Steve McQueen - I'm a bit too young, but I remember my Mum being shocked…
  • Aggg... Surely the pleasure of eating is not just the tastes but the textures, the inter-marriage between soft and crispy, sweet and salty, sometimes you want cake, sometimes a cracker. Sometimes a piece of cheese, sometimes a piece of chocolate. Sometimes an egg for breakfast, sometimes a bowl of muesli. I've just…
  • NO! Don't ditch the veg! Vegetables are your friends, embrace your vegetables! Just cut down on the fruit. I've just had a quick look and your sugar totals are deffo in the red... As I said, I'm no expert. SOmething a nutritionist said to me recently was, if you start to plateau, try varying your daily calories and also…
  • I'm not an expert by any means, but at first glance, there is quite a lot of fruit... and you're not showing your daily sugar totals. Go into your settings and change one of your columns to sugar and see what happens. You may well want to ditch some of your fruit for veg's... Just a thought! :)
  • I've just had a look on the M&S website (largest seller of menswear in the UK) Formal trousers - flat front (79), single pleat (33), double pleat (none). Chinos - flat front (24), single pleat (1), double pleat (none). Casual trousers - flat front (68), single pleat (1), double pleat (none). To sum up - does james Bond…
  • What decade are we in? Pleats?!
  • Yep - age is a big factor. Weight distribution changes as you age, not in a good way either! I was 55kg for ages through my 20's and 30's (which is about (reaches for calculator) 121 lbs). I suppose I'm a medium+ frame. I'm way over that now, but am aiming for 60kg (132 lbs). For my age, that would be a healthy weight.
  • weeellll... that's a bit harsh! I'm a short-*kitten* UK 14, which equates to a 10 I think, and no, I'm too chubby to be 'hot'. But, if I were taller, younger and more toned, then I see no reason at all why I shouldn't be! I need to get down a size to a US 8, but mainly because I'm vertically challenged...
  • Oh this has just made my morning... If I had another daughter (which would make medical history at my age) I would definitely call her River! (I have Alex Kingston hair, so I have a soft spot for her!) Cried buckets on Saturday when she said goodbye for the last time and faded away... waaaahhhhhhh
  • You don't actually seem to have eaten that much and yet still got to 1400 calories. I reiterate the others - muffins, chips, Bavarian (no idea what that is, but it doesn't sound healthy!). I treated myself to an English muffin with my egg this morning and it was 174 calories, the egg on the other hand was 65, and which do…
  • You need to change the people you hang out with honey, how rude! Take up a musical instrument, most musicians have long, elegant fingers - or just hang out with musicians!
  • Oh yes you can! I buy a brand called Biona Organic from my local (independent) health food store, organic, unpasteurised, unfiltered, oak matured, with-the-mother. £2.29 for a 750ml bottle. They're based in Kingston, not far from me and have a website. www.biona.co.uk
  • Baba Ghanoush or Imam Bayaldi (translated as 'the Imman fainted' - because it's so gorgeous!). Two Turkish recipes that are heaven... mmmm Aubergines (eggplant) Garlic Olive Oil Tomato Parsley/Basil mmmm again.
  • I use it - it's an old English folk remedy, and as such there is an awful lot of tosh written about it! I started using it when I was attempting to rid my body of a seemingly never-ending bout of Candida. It went, whether or not it was that, that did it, I don't know. There have been a few studies that have proved that it…
  • You move from your winter woolies to your spring wardrobe - and it's shrunk over the winter..... :noway: Or - you look at the family photos that were taken over Christmas, and realise the fat one isn't your mother-in-law.... That's what got me here.....
  • This has made my morning!
  • Yes - me! :flowerforyou: Feel free to add me, but not if you're a gym-bunny, cause we'll have nothing in common!
  • You're very tall. You also look young and don't have a great deal to lose, so it will be slower. Even with being inactive, 1200 is very low for someone of your height/weight/age. I'm only 5'2" and my BMR is 1248, I would say without a doubt you are eating too little. Can you not find a long way round from your student digs…
  • Once you have an idea of where to start, Figleaves.com will let you order loads and then return the ones that are hopeless for free! They're a good price too, and you may find a bargain or two in the sale area! Another good thing is the on-line reviews - I always read these and you can get really helpful comments sometimes…
  • Ugh. Nightmare. Nothing more dispiriting than standing in a fitting room with mountains of ill-fitting nylon! I spent 30 minutes last night going through my drawer sorting those that vaguely fit, from those that don't at all. Those that may fit again in the future from those that never will again... I have a narrow back…
