  • You're gorgeous!
  • Yes I think that's the thing. You can never go back to those bad habits. I have lost 15 pounds in 5 weeks. I was STARVING for the first 2 or 3 weeks but I kept telling myself that nothing tastes as good as being skinny will feel :-). And I also reminded myself that it takes 3-6 weeks to make new habits. So now after 5…
  • @ Rexy... if you know that eating so little has caused your own metabolic disorder, why on earth would you give advice to someone else to eat that way? We would all love to help and support you, but we also need to help and support the opening poster by *not* telling her to do something that in the long run is harmful to…
  • It's true, and if you spend most of your young adulthood eating only 600 cal per day (which is classified as starvation by World Health Organization) imagine yourself in your 40s and beyond when your metabolism has slowed down even more! You'll have to get by on a banana. also, you can't possibly be getting the vitamins…
  • *bump* want to hear more thoughts on this topic... Is there any evidence that being a vegetarian increases one's craving for sweets? I am 90% vegetarian for the last 25 years (I eat dairy often, occasional eggs and rarely seafood) and I also have a very low resistance for sweets... but I always did, I think. What are your…
  • I always loved sweets, maybe it's just my nature :)
  • I am not a vegetarian, although my friends call me one. I tell people I don't eat anything with a neck. I have been watching my protein intake and I seem to get plenty, from whole grains, milk products and the occasional egg or fake veggie food. I do use a lot of TVP (texturized soy) in recipes. I am also a sugar-holic.…
  • Sorry again... I was just asking/curious. Is "anorexic" a demeaning term? I meant it as a medical term, and tried to recognize the fact that not everyone here is trying to *lose* weight.:embarassed:
  • I'm sorry :blushing: :flowerforyou:
  • 1500 is not the minimum... Many people are able to keep it MUCH lower than that... 800-1000 is fine, and you could probably go lower without much adverse effect. Be wary of sodium hidden in foods that you don't expect to have any added to, such as meat. Meat should have less than 80 mg/serving but the processors like to…
  • Because I am close to my goal weight, I can only lose about 1/2 to 1 lb a week. With normal fluctuations I can hardly tell if I'm up or down. My weight has varied by 5 lbs or more just this week alone by daily weigh-ins. I would like to stay off the scale but it is addictive.
  • D I C K inson! Ha Ha, I keep forgetting they censor the name of my town around here! LOL:blushing:
  • We lived in Galveston since 1992, just this August moved to ****inson. My husbands job at UTMB got transferred to Medical Center in downtown Houston, a 1.5 hour commute each way. ****inson is halfway there, so we split our commute. I miss the island though!
  • yeah, exactly... Just because I am not obese doesn't mean I don't have to watch what I eat. I always have watched it... That's why I am not obese. I don't have special genetics that lets me eat what I want!
  • You look great honey, but posting this is a bad idea... all kinds of trolls and stalkers out there and you shouldn't let yourself be set up for that kind of stuff. I know you are proud and deserve to be but keep it for your husband
  • I am ABSOLUTELY certain that if you are too full to eat, you shouldn't eat (if you are trying to lose weight) I am an exercise physiologist (or was, about 20 years ago, according to my Master's degree) I have noticed that this site seems to overestimate the calories burned for various exercises. (I've noticed the same…
  • Aww, sadly I'm not from San Marcos...; but I had to say my husband and I LOVE San Marcos. If we ever get away (it's been 3 years now) we go up there and hang out and go to Gruene Hall!
  • Seriously, that sounds delish...:flowerforyou:
  • I grocery shopped today, too, and did a great job, lots of fruit and veggies, no candy (there's still some in the house though :blushing: ) Wanted to get a candy bar at the checkout, didn't... Wanted to pop in the drive through fast food, didn't... Now all I have to do is get myself out to exercise, but it's cold and grey.…
  • Good luck... I just started a week ago. Years ago when I was dieting I had made myself an Excel spreadsheet to track my calories and exercise. I had Calories, Fat, Carb, Protein contents of all the food I ate. I had to look it up in BOOKS!!!! This is easier... :)
  • I like to tell people I don't eat anything with a neck, that way we don't get into semantics about "vegetarianism"
  • This might not sound good, but it's one of my favorites this time of year and is easy to carry to the office and fix in the microwave. I put 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, 1 T raisins, 1/4 c powdered nonfat milk and 1 T brown sugar in a microwave bowl with a screw on lid. When I'm ready to eat, I add as much water as I want…
  • Ha Ha! They censored the name of my town! D I C K inson!
  • Where in Texas will you be moving? I live near Houston (Galveston since 1992, then moved to ****inson in August last year)
  • I used to be very very active, I was a house painter and I didn't eat while I worked, I hated to take a break and just kept going. Then my mother needed daily hyperbaric treatments that took 4 hours, and a 1 hour trip each way. I had to give up my active job and traded it for sitting 6 hours at a time, with nothing to do…
  • Yeah I always "feed a cold" too... Try recording what you *plan* to eat ... makes it easier to stick to the plan... If you are getting ready to eat a bad snack or meal, try recording it first... it really helps to see in black and white what that food will do to your totals. Maybe the extreme urge will pass by the time…
  • I just joined a few days ago... basically just log your foods, the search function works really well. Then if I'm bored I check the recent posts to see if I can weigh in on anything :)

  • Go to your food diary and click on settings to customize which nutrients you track. Also you can click on reports at the bottom and get a more comprehensve breakdown of different vitamins, minerals etc.
