Does anyone know if psyllium fiber would help with this? I know that it is used as a laxative for some, but I always find it more binding than anything. It is technically a carb, but as straight up fiber, it's a zero net carb "food".

I'm going to guess an electrolyte imbalance - most especially potassium. Bone broth for the win on this one. It could be a magnesium loss issue too, but homemade bone broth should help with any missing minerals - assuming you are getting enough sodium.

Hmmm....You already nixed the chia seed recommendation, but I do think this is your best bet - chia seeds and flax with coconut milk/cream. It seems like you might be able to combine in some psyllium husk fiber also to give it more of a hot breakfast porridge feel and not add any calories. Could be worth a go to try.

No. I was an army cadet, but never in the military and I, like most sane non-military people, avoid combat situations. Have you ever lived in a country where you don't speak the language?

I think you would do well to get your cortisol and insulin under control - which will be whacko with thyroid and depression problems. The PCOS and depression makes me think that you are running sky high on insulin - even if your glucose is normal. I hesitate to recommend a keto diet as I don't think it is appropriate for…

In no way am I an expert on nutrition and I don't want to give advice on calorie counting, but I would think a keto diet and maybe even combined with intermittent fasting, would get you to your goals MUCH faster. Try a one or two meal a day goal with macros in the 10% carb, 65% fat, 25% protein range. Be prepared to feel…

My bp is usually in the 95/55 range and also deal with dizziness while exercising. The biggest thing to watch for is any sudden shift in exercise (changing positions, pushing yourself too hard to quickly, etc). The best thing I can do for myself is have a high protein snack before hand, drink a lot of water, and remember…

One of the problems that A LOT of dietary recommendations leave out is that it doesn't take your body's stores of fat into consideration. All that fat we're trying to lose was the body's way of saving it for when you need it. It's totally fine to eat less than your BMR if you have the fat stores (which I assume we all do…

Most people prefer to eat at night - at least according to information found in the Warrior Diet. I am one of those people. Usually what I do is eat up to around an hour before I go to bed, but I hold off eating breakfast for as long as possible. This goes against common "wisdom", but honestly your body doesn't care when…

I think this is interesting and I support the notion that 10000 years is definitely long enough for evolution, but it doesn't mean that we HAVE evolved to a different diet - only that we could. I found the information about cow's milk interesting. According to Zuk, only 35% of adults tolerate cow's milk, which is something…

I don't know if my advice counts too much because I've only lost 9 pounds so far, but that has been over just the past 2 weeks and I don't have a whole lot I want to lose. I am 154 pounds (as of today) and 5'7". I want to weight 140. I feel like eat a tonne, but have taken all refined foods completely out of my diet. I…

Wow! So inspiring. Good on you! Well done.

Hi There! I'm 5'7" also and started at 168/170. I'm down to 157/159 (depending on the day) and am looking to get to 140ish. I've never been at that weight. I seemed to jump from 130 in my late teens/early twenties to 150 and then to 170. 20 pound increments are scary! If I don't nip this now, I'll be much heavier than I…

Hi Richard! Don't give up, but you don't need to be hungry. Go plant strong with your diet, eating as many vegetables as you can manage/tolerate. I don't mean have a salad with your meal. I mean make at least one of your meals an enormous, filling salad, but avoid the dressing. I use a little apple cider vinegar and some…
