  • Gluten free and lower carb here, anyone feel free to add me. :D
  • I think she was expecting all the men of MFP to come in and bemoan their lazy wives for staying at home, when in most cases it was probably a joint decision. That's a fairly easy mentality to find in other corners of the internet.
  • Won't give you a home phone number? People still have landlines these days?
  • I'm planning on cutting them up into small pieces and just having a bite or two when I'm craving something sweet and chewey. You have to kind of test the different flavors, as some are hard as a rock and only edible after being microwaved and eaten with a fork.
  • Also, people do realize that the teaching profession inherently requires a level of "judging" yes? That teachers are trained to look for signs of child abuse and neglect, wherein if they expressed those concerns, I get the idea a lot of people would ask "Well, do you have kids?" or "Get back to teaching" or "You don't know…
  • I love how people on this thread talk about "shaming" in regards to food choices. When did we get to the point where any time someone points out that something is likely a bad choice (random sex, morbid obesity, unhealthy food) its "shaming." Also this quote is crap: The simple fact is that if children ate nothing but…
  • I just think the whole thing is stand-offish. "What's your excuse?" doesn't really come across as encouraging, but accusatory. "I did it, and you can too!" I think would have been more helpful, followed by a link to her site for tips.
  • Please add me, anyone who is interested. :D
  • If you are going to be on your feet a lot and they are covered by your insurance, you may want to consider customized orthadics. They can make a miracle difference.

  • If polyester makes people fat why is that during the disco era when polyester was -the thing- were people much thinner then they are now, and ADHD was something you never heard of? Plenty of people all around the world wear polyester, and yet - it's Americans with the obesity problem.
  • You seem to often eat very few calories for breakfast, and then eat all your calories for lunch/dinner. Perhaps this isn't working for your body - perhaps you need to spread out your calories more evenly over your meals.
  • Reading this description, have you talked to your doctor about how this may be exercise-induced asthma? As that sounds pretty spot on to the symptoms I used to get. After my weight loss, and being more mindful of my water intake, I don't seem to have this anymore, but yes, it will still crop up if I have cold symptoms,…
  • Rather than different sizes, have you tried different styles or different brands? Even with upper back exercises, if the bra really isn't the best fit for you, it may still lead to weird bunching or bulging. Otherwise, there's this: http://www.prevention.com/fitness/strength-training/back-exercises-get-rid-bra-fat
  • If you are having headaches and the runs as a constant problem - I'd look into the potential of a deeper medical issue. Food allergy? Need digestive enzymes? Some kind of mineral/vitamin imbalance? IBS? I mean if you constantly have the runs, no wonder you are hungry all the time, you aren't keeping food in long enough to…
  • Miracle Whip or Mayonnaise in general, as I know Miracle Whip has a specific taste.
  • I wasn't sure if you were looking a homemade blend or a commercial one but, this is pre-packaged one that is wheat/gluten, corn, soy, and dairy free. Also non-GMO. http://www.namastefoods.com/products/cgi-bin/products.cgi?Function=show&Id=23 I haven't had this specific product, but I've tried other products from this…
  • Indeed, a lot of "gluten free" products can have even -more- carbs than their "glutened" equivalents, as they can add more starches/binders. So - you have to be careful with that, and really control portions or avoid things all together. I'm both low(er) carb and gluten free, if you've like a friend in the same boat, add…
  • So glad I found this group, I'd love to have some new low-carb friends so I can get some idea on things to eat. :D Also - I feel sometimes like I need a bit more encouragement, I had a lot of emotional eating issues for a long time, and when I get "triggered" it can put me in a real funk. Though family members are…
  • Berries are in season now, and the raspberries seem to be particularly good this year. Berries and nuts? Eggplant and mushrooms are good for a "meaty" taste but aren't actually meat. I have a few recipes for coconut flour and nut meal muffins - if you bake some on a weekend, you can keep them in the fridge, they seem to…
  • It's good to use in baked recipes that call for peanut butter, because it provides the flavor, but mixes -so much better- than trying to mix in great gobs of "regular" peanut butter evenly. Obviously, you need to add a bit of extra liquid to the recipe to make up for that.
  • Yeah, also if your "before you gained the weight" reference is middle school (IE you've been chubby since high school) that might not be a good guess either. I've lost 25 lbs - my band size has gone down two inches, but my cup size is the same. This causes issues when I try to buy smaller clothes - as now everything fits…
  • If the boxes aren't open, don't feel compelled to eat them. You could donate them to the local food bank/shelter.
  • I don't know about bars but - I can recommend a Gluten Free cereal you can easily eat as a snack/breakfast (you need water or a milk/milk sub to mix with it, but you could get some of those shelf-stable boxes of coconut milk to take with you.)…
  • I started at 225ish and I'm hovering at 200 now. I also would love some more friends. I love getting ideas from other's food diaries and just love the encouragement. Please add me, anyone who is interested. :D
  • If you buy a higher quality cheese, you want less of it because there is more flavor (at least that I've found.) Also - some of that fake cheese has really strange ingredients. You can get a thin slice of real cheese (Sargento makes the 45 calorie thin slices) for that same 45 calories and I'm guessing it would be a lot…
  • Not to rain on this parade but - a 1/4 cup of flax meal has 10 carbs. So - 40 carbs in a cup and 80 carbs in two cups. So - if this divides into 12 pieces, doesn't that mean there are 6 carbs per piece, rather than 1?
  • Buy a mountain and build myself a reproduction of Minas Tirith and invite people to come become my subjects, lol.
  • I drink flax milk in my protein shakes and use it to mix in with my chia cereal. I think its pretty tasty myself. Drinking it just by itself can be kind of rough, but for use in other things, its pretty good.
  • The calories might be the same, but the broccoli has a lot more fiber and will keep you feeling fuller longer than the cookie. It also no doubt has a lot less refined sugar which will just encourage cravings.
