  • 4 oz of mint chocolate chip ice cream - a relatively small but reasonable serving - is 250 calories per Baskin Robbins. I suppose that with that knowledge you can make your choices.

  • Others on here are no doubt better than I at the specifics of weight loss, but I'm pretty damn good at guilt and shame. Both of them kill. While you establish a long-term weight loss plan, do something each day that lifts your spirits; perhaps, for example, a 30-minute walk. Talk with your doctor about counseling.…

  • Our journeys are similar, friend me if you like. Lost 45 pounds over the course of a year, then got stuck for several months and have gained 7 pounds back. Sweets are a downfall for me, too. My goal is to stay where I am through the holidays (I am back to logging food and exercise) and then resume my downward path.

  • 5K on Thanksgiving. This will be the first time I have attempted to run that distance in 35 years. I am working my way up to it very slowly with a training app. I also intend to be another 10# lighter by the time of the run, which will help. For me it's not a race, and perhaps more of a shuffle than a run. My goal is to…

  • May I join, please? I lost 40 lbs July - July but have not lost weight since then. I really want to get under 200 (209 now) by November, and am training to run in a 5K on Thanksgiving.
  • No one - except my wife - noticed until I had lost 25 lbs. Now that I have lost 40 - from 250 to 210# - I hear comments more frequently. Generally positive but pretty much everyone is sure I must have had some sort of system - usually involving cutting carbs - and their eyes glaze over when I mention mfp.
  • I don't have time to look through all the responses; please tell me that some guy responded with, "I've still got mine!" I would be so disappointed in my gender were that not the case.

  • Good job to both of you. I plan to enter those hundreds - also for the first time in many, many years - by the end of August. I've got a new pair of pants - waist size 38, also territory not visited in this century - hanging in the closet and waiting to celebrate.
  • I am in recovery and - after many ups and downs, starts and stops - will, by the grace of God, achieve four years of sobriety soon. I say that not to brag but to establish that I understand the struggle. Your problems cannot be solved in a public forum like this. While AA could be a part of your recovery - I attend several…

  • How about this: just tell me if a food has been genetically-modified, or contains genetically-modified ingredients, and I'll make my own decision as to whether I choose to consume that food. Seems real simple and eliminates the "preaching" on both sides.

  • And this is funny (copied from a post above): you know what I am really tired of? This whole 'wash your hands to prevent disease' trend.
  • There is a difference between selectively breeding/developing/hybridizing and genetically modifying. Not all gmo's are bad, but I prefer to avoid them when possible.

  • Make everything I eat have some nutritional benefit. For example, I used to eat a Milky Way bar or a bag of Peanut Butter M & M's after lunch virtually every day. Either one is 248 calories with virtually nothing that is beneficial from a nutritional point-of-view. I now eat something like a Kind bar (not every day, more…
  • I finally kicked the my ice cream habit by replacing it with 2 - 3 oz sliced strawberries topped with .5 cup of non-fat Greek yogurt and 1 TB of brown sugar.
  • Those who - and it's almost always men - are seemingly incapable of understanding the concept of the circuit workout at PF, cutting in to do curls and then sitting on the bench until they are motivated to do their next set of reps. Equally annoying, the fact that PF employees do diddly squat to educate/enforce.

  • I like fiber (oatmeal, blueberries, prunes, Thomas High-Fiber English Muffins, avocado, spinach) and protein (egg, veggie sausage, tofu, bacon). I often throw together a breakfast sandwich using the English muffin, an egg cooked in the microwave with 1/2 cup spinach, and either a veggie sausage patty or 1 ounce of avocado.…
