  • I struggle with my feelings about my legs. They carry me up huge mountains, help me run through the woods, are very flexible and have been very good to me. That aside, I am always concerned about their size, shape and my lovely knobbly knees. Still, at the end of the day I am lucky to have them and my thighs have reduced…
  • First photo taken last summer at about 126 and the heaviest I have been (outside pregnancy). Admittedly I had been eating strudel and drinking German wheat beer all week but definitely not a good look for me. I started MFP in February and the last photo was taken a few weeks ago at 108 (June). MFP has worked for me as it…
  • Sigh, still can't figure out how to post photos. Apparently I am an idiot! lol
  • WOuld like to post photos but can't see where to add attachments. Any help?
  • While I generally don't comment on...ahem.....digestive issues I can maybe help with this one. When I started running over ten years ago I had difficulty getting through most long runs without a need, sometimes rather pressing, to visit the toilet. I was a trail runner though so if a serious emergency arose I was in a good…
  • Funnily enough I can definitely say that it is down to both genetics AND weight. I was slim when I was younger and yet never had a thigh gap BUT when I had a child my hips spread just enough to have one. It isn't about wide hips though as my hips are 33.5 but I have a definite thigh gap and did even when I was a stone…
  • I'm a bit different in that I mostly do trail/mountain/hill runs. My pace for the first 2/3 miles might be 15 (or more depending on steepness) and coming back it is much quicker so as long as I even out at under 12mm I am happy. For the flat, which I hate running, it depends on the trail but I usually do 8.5/9. I don't…
  • Absolutely spot on with this comment. Lets be clear as well, there is NOT a lack of food in the world, what there IS is a great deal of profiteering involved in the distribution and pricing of food.
  • I run for the feeling of being 10 years old again. I jump over logs, dodge roots, splash through puddles and feel like I did when life was uncomplicated. :-)
  • Thank you everyone for your advice and for the congrats. I didn't have much to lose so always feel a bit shy of accepting plaudits considering there are some really tremendous stories of achievements on here. That said I am happy to have MFP and the advice and support of the folk on here. I will see how I get on this week…
  • Just saw this. Thanks very much for the clarity! :-)
  • So just to clarify: If I change to Lightly Active I SHOULD also eat back exercise calories? Sorry for seeming dense but I want to get it right. :-) Thanks all! (sorry replied before I had read last post)
  • Thanks, I am fairly sedentary for the rest of the day as I am a student and often chained to the computer. The only exercise I ever add in is the amount I do intentionally. The laundry, dog walking, etc I never add. I take your point about adding a bit at a time. I think I am just frightened to put on any weight as I beat…
  • Sparkling water all the time. Along with 2 coffees a day and if I have been very good a glass of wine.
  • I want to feel good when I run with very little jiggling. I want to feel good in my clothes. I want to see the look of appreciation in my husband's eyes when I come to bed. I want my washboard stomach back because it suits me. Finally, I want to feel light and strong and healthy and set a good example for my child. That…
  • I agree with the posters above regarding very dark chocolate. It can be an acquired taste but when you get used to it you will never want to go back. I have had 99% bars in the past and they will knock your socks off. Not sure if you can get them but Rococo and a number of other high quality chocolates offer dark with…
  • Am 5' 3.5 and just got down to 112 from 125. I am working on maintenance right now but also realising that this is the time to figure out what maintenance is as I have still been losing slightly over the last week or 2. Don't want to go lower than 110 as i start to look far too thin. Despite the low weight I don't really…
  • I'm 5'3.5 and 112 llbs. My lowest ever as an adult was 105 and I was WAY to thin. I have an athletic build so build muscle quite easily which is really nice. I agree with other folk though that we get a lot of stick for trying to watch our weight. As soon as people found out I was on MFP many were saying "but you are thin…
  • I'm definitely getting the night sweats as well! That all makes sense, now!
  • Now that is very interesting. I have been thinner but 112 is as low as I fancy going presently. I admit I have little fat and decent muscles so that may be the problem. Will speak to the doctor and thanks to yourself and everyone for the advice. :-)
  • Hmmm, interesting. May just leave it a few weeks and then stoat round the GPs looking all hot and bothered and see what they say.
  • Well the consensus seems to be that sadly my metabolism is NOT super awesome and that I am just getting old. I feel you are probably right but I may just pretend it is a mixture of both to make myself feel better. Seriously, I do appreciate your input, just wish it was the first answer I got, lol
  • I had given the perimenopause thing consideration. Guess I was hoping it might be exercise related. lol
  • A very good point. I had all those tests back around Christmas when I was unwell (thyroid, kidney tests, etc) so I guess I'll just deal with it. I do agree though, I think I would melt if I lived in a hot climate. Scotland has three/four seasons in a day so I can always just hold on til the winter bit comes around. ;-)
  • I agree that it seems the opposite of others. That is kinda why it is worrying me (just a tad). Hey, I don't mind being warm but just wondered if the being rev'ed up at rest was common. Thanks for replying. :-)
  • Guess not, lol.
  • Hi, I'll help however I can. I've been running for nearly 10 years. Ask away if you have questions. :-)
  • Hi, I'm 41, 112.6, 5'3 1/2 and have body fat of approx 22%. Hope that helps. :-)
  • Glad I wasn't the only one who actually wanted to help.
