Until you get them: If the Weight feels light, feel free to make the larger increments. Otherwise feel free.

I use mine to get cute girls' phone numbers at the gym.

If you are doing the program correctly, he is wrong.

Do you experience any pain when doing squats? Did the doctor prescribe any medication? Do not externally rotate your feet when you run or walk. This can cause knee problems. Your feet are supposed to be parallel to your thighs. Some good alternatives would be leg press and hack squats.

The best way to find out your 5RM is to start the program with just the bar and start stalling at 1 x 5.

What gym was this?

If the schedule allows, do the Zumba more days than strength training. Otherwise do both not exceeding 3-4 total workouts per week. I would say to try this for at least a month or two.
-
Unfortunately this sort of thing tends to be the norm. I have met many women that do not want to strength train because they do not want to get bulky. The average gym goer is highly misinformed AND they tend to believe that the main reason for working out is to look better. Just try and tune that stuff out. -Vince

Even though some gyms do not allow chalk, I use it anyways since they let you clean it up when you are done.

Squats. but then again do you concern yourself more with strength or vanity?

Yea the two are very similar. The Texas method calls for more volume and intensity and from what I hear, it is supposed to be BRUTAL. Think of advanced novice as a prerequisite to the Texas Method. And no I do not watch Scrubs. I'm not much of a TV viewer unless it's Sports, Cops or South Park. lol

This girl is only 15 years old and can snatch 68 kilos.

Try power cleans. It may take a while to learn how to do them, but they are a lot of fun. This is from SSBBT3 "First, barbell rows are not a substitute for power cleans. If you use them for this purpose, you have decided to omit a more important exercise in favor of an assistance exercise, an easier movement that does not…

Try advanced novice: Day 1: Squat 3x5 Bench/Press 3x5 (alternate the bench and press) Deadlift 1x5 Day 2: Squat 85% of last workset, 3x5 Press/Bench 3x5 Chin-ups 3 sets AMRAP Day 3: Squat 3x5 Press/Bench 3x5 Power clean 5x3 Add weight each session.

Are you getting enough sleep? How's your diet? Which lifts are you stalling on?
-
May I ask how many pounds you are lifting? How many sets and reps?
-
OP, you've already gone through linear progression right?
-
Good job finding a better gym. In my opinion normal deadlift is superior than a Hex bar because you are more likely to lift things up in this position. (i.e., a small child, furniture or a heavy box.) Jim Wendler talks about it in 5/3/1 pretty much saying it's OK to use a trap bar for deadlifts over an olympic barbell as a…

Is there any reason in particular why you were interested in this?

We all have to start somewhere. No one will really judge you for being unfamiliar with equipment unless they have low self-esteem. Feel free to ask questions too. Guys like me would be happy to help. :) Just gotta watch out for people trying to coach you on your form when they have bed technique themselves.

I'm pretty sure the guy fainted in that video because he continued to hold his breath after his rep. OP, I'm sure pacing helped you because you were breathing at the time. I used to have this problem too in the past. I was able to stop this by only holding my breath for as long as necessary. You also want to make sure you…

No worries. Just start doing 1x5 on deadlifts from now on.

**** 'em.

What I was doing was pulling the bar straight up then sweeping it in. It's supposed to come in directly from the ground. Thereby decreasing the amount of space between the bar and thighs after it passes the knees.

Thanks, everyone. I still have a lot to work on though lol.

They sell chalk at Sports Authority.
