I think if you've just recently decreased your carbs and increased your protein it will take a full 3 days or so to notice a difference. We have been programmed to have 'bread' with meals and it feels like somethings missing when you first cut it out. I notice an egg scrambled with cheese, veges and a couple slices of…

Great analogies! I agree.

My experience is that once you have powered through those first difficult 3 days of completely avoiding carbs you lose the craving. For some reason losing that 'bloat' comes right off your belly, face and motivation kicks in.. It works and I've tried 'em all!

I'm in- agree it's the only thing that has truly worked for me.

Breyers and Dreyers both carry a no sugar added line. choc chip mint, vanilla, fudge tracks. 80 calories for Breyers and 110 or so for Dreyers.

done that plus knocked my own glasses off my face..

It's heartening to read all these posts! Everyone has such great intentions and we are all here to support each other. MFP helps by keeping us accountable, but I'm curious what 'programs' or plans everyone is following: I started my journey the beginning of March and loosely following Atkins. I knew I was addicted to bread…

yup: I'm sitting at 1200 calories per day. One of my motivators for working out is so I have a bit more per day.. It's a little depressing thinking this is what I will need to continue to be at to maintain once I've reached my goal..

This is a fun post! I want to reach into my closet and put on whatever I grab.. and it will go nicely together, fit comfortably and not look 'frumpy'.. simple

You go girl! You are more likely not to track it if you fear someone will comment and make you feel bad. We have worked hard to get where we are at and you certainly don't need someone you barely know responsible for derailing you!

If you are still checking your posts about protein powder I'd like to 'weigh in'. I am doing Adkins and working out, mostly cardio, 5+ times per week. I wanted a protein shake low in sugar and carbs, and high in amino acids. Not wanting to replace meals but to get some extra protein in with hopes of keepign my hunger in…

Great question.. and yes, to do more than maintain, you need more than 3 times a week. It's hard but really experiment until you find something you can live with. Variety is key. Find a friend to go walking with a couple days a week- the time will fly! Try a class you've always wanted to.. good luck!
-
Great question- that is my fear! I am doing Adkins and the 'induction' period is meant to help you lose your sugar and white flour cravings- and it worked on about day 3! I live in fear one 'slip' will cause me to go nuts!
-
Hello! I fit the request, but curious what program, if any, you are following. I am looking for help in the Adkins followers.. thanks!

I'd be curious to see other responses. I found a 'curves circuit' which may be decently accurate- same idea. I know what you mean; I used to take a 'body pump' through 24 hour fitness which is now OZ fitness. Same class called 'body conditioning' through the YMCA. They say this is the best work out for toning you back up-…

Yea, I put it in my daily protein shake. Too bad you have to order online- they sell it at our local Fred Meyer (kroger)
-
great idea- thanks!

Would love to share/swap ideas! I started the beginning of March and am down 30 lbs. Am happy but too have a long way to go. I do either eggs or a protein shake for breakfast, hummus with veges or salad or lunch meat rolled up with cheese for lunch and chicken or hamburger or fish for dinner. Best of all- I really enjoy…

Great topic starter! We are experiencing a warmer than usual spring so a girlfriend and I walked the neighborhood from our kids' school so we could catch up, enjoy the still cool air, and get our work out out of the way early!
-
Great question- we all have little tricks and it's been fun to read through (most) of them. Here are my couple of cents worth: * I use egg beaters instead of eggs on non-work out days * I found Fred Meyer carries a 'carb master' yogurt which took a little getting used to but is worth it in the sugar and carbs * turkey…

Wonderful inspiration for us all! You look so vibrant and full of life! Enjoy this new chapter in your life

Look at your food diary- are you eating enough protein to keep you satisfied? I know it doesn't work for everyone but I am doing Adkins and it took about 3 days to lose the 'sugar' and 'white bread cravings. Now I am feeling great and couldn't tell you the last time I felt a hunger pain!

check out 'eat more to weigh less'. It's eye opening and really makes sense
-
Great goal- let's do it! : )

Even if you don't have hand weights grab a couple soup cans and curl, row and skull crush away- even while you watch tv. Since muscle weighs more than fat it benefits you to increase that muscle mass.

Agreed. To each their own opinion, but remember mom's advice 'if you don't have something nice to say..'
-
yum- that sounds delish!

I use MRM Whey in rich vanilla. You can add it to water or milk. I'm watching carbs and it's low- using stevia. You can get it at Vitamin Discount (store).

Hi! I actually started using a protein powder after reading the book The Obesity Cure. It said if you concentrate on specific amino acids you will have a bevy of benefits now, during and after weight loss. I went to a vitamin store with the list and tried MRM Whey which is super low calories, sugar and carbs (sweetened…
