So far I have raised nearly £1000 so thanks to anyone who has sponsored me from here. I have just 7 days left until this challenge, I am out running every day, but still dreading it! If you can spare a couple of pounds or dollars to help this really good cause it would really help me to complete this extreme 100 mile non…

Here is some general info about the walk itself "The Dorset 100" - organised by the LDWA - https://www.ldwa.org.uk/2016Hundred/W/3164/route-overview.html

Ah heck that's a shame, thanks for the heads up though

Friends yes please - Mutual motivational exchanges very welcome - and also would be pretty amazing to get to learn about people in other parts of the World - I am in the UK :)

Hello there, running friends needed to encourage, advise, and get me to my first half marathon in May 2016 and the a full one in October 2016. Complete novice but enthusiastic! :)

Hi there I had a look at the event: https://www.ldwa.org.uk/WestLancashire/W/2968/anglezarke-amble-2016.html Looks great - I fancy that I think I will give it a go! Only worry is snow in February. Than you

I have no idea but wish you a speedy recovery

Thanks Machka the countdown begins :)

The intended focus here was for older folk as mentioned in the post title - rather than a general "anabolic window" for everyone. This has been overlooked by many replying here I feel. I did not mention "older folk" in the wording in the post content so I can see what happened. The mentioned article (lemurcat12) from 2013…

Correct - I assume for some reason you cannot listen to the article - perhaps if you are in the US you cannot access all BBC online services (?)
-
Not only are you too ignorant to listen to the Professor you then take to insulting people. This is relevant to the older generation where the mechanism that builds muscle is much less effective.
-
Thanyou CurlyCockney, I will ignore the folk that didn't listen or take the time to understand the science.
-
You obviously have not listened to the podcast - this research relates to older people
-
zyst - the research shows - if you don't then muscles miss the opportunity to "fill up" with available protein - so muscle build up is lessened. Honestly have a listen when you have a spare half hour.
-
Again I suggest you listen to the programme.

Suggest you listen to the programme before deciding your view.

That's 50 miles in one day bye the way :)

Ok , appreciated advice. I got them from doing a fifty mile walk, I did blast NY feet with Vaseline before and half way through the walk along with dry sicks, but still they inevitably came. There seems to be some debate around keeping them open to the air versus the band aid gel approach. I just the suckers gone so I can…

I expect the aftershave acts an antibacterial. Polysporin I will look up - not heard of that one.
-
Fabulous advice I really appreciate you sharing your experiences. I have to agree with "Minxie" and will have a go at combining all your ideas. What a great community indeed! Thank you

Do women lose their bosoms when they train? (ref to Pic above)

Please add me and we can kick each others *kitten*! Failure is NOT an option

Hopefully there will be a software patch for Accupedo before too long.

Hey, I am sure lots of people here will help you - post your story in one of the other forum categories - you will soon find people will reply and give you lots of help and advice. Good luck

I have no diet advice - but hold onto that focus and attitude - and be prepared to grab it back if it happens to slip

How about plan a weekend break with your husband in August to celebrate if you make your goal.
-
What a fabulously inspiring post - thank you millions. Thats a excellent idea too - he needs a kick up the *kitten* as well - I will see if I can get him down to the local gym.
-
I understand what you some of you are saying - talk to a professional - but the last time I did that - some 10 years ago he put me on some god awful medication called "Serocat" which caused horrendous side effects - so I have to self medicate my way out out of this. I like the quote above - probably because it is saying…
-
Thats good - your husband is lucky to have such a motivating partner - and vice versa. I have a teenage son at home, not wishing to burden him, maybe I will get out there and join some walking groups or something like that.

Well nothing wrong with it - but its so nice I want it with every meal - so I am just saying here as an example how I can manage without it - cause I will likely be having cheese with some other meal in the day.
