Hi Kate, Others in this group can speak to this more precisely than I can, and I’m not currently a runner, but from what I have read, it can take your body up to 4-6 weeks to fully adapt to burning fat instead of glucose. If I’m not mistaken, this is the time it takes for your mitochondria to adjust. Stephen Phinney has…

Love this thread! 2 NSVs: Someone took a photo of me with my girls last weekend, and when I saw it, I noticed how thin my face looked and how that made me seem thinner all over. (I was only showing from the waist up in the photo.) Second NSV: I have been off all NSAIDs for 3 months, where I used to take Advil or Alene…

I’ll have to try that, sounds delicious! I did HWC or H&H in my coffee for years, but recently switched to unsweetened almond milk because I was giving up dairy. It was an adjustment, but I really like it now. I do add a little more of the almond milk than I did cream, probably 1/4 cup. It’s 2 carbs per cup, so my coffee…

Hi @tina4kids! I lost about 35 lbs on LCHF back in 2015 as well, and started back right around Christmas 2017, this time more Paleo than strictly low carb. I haven’t lost weight as quickly this time, however, I don’t have the severe low carb flu symptoms I had before, either. (Taking electrolytes seriously from the…

Breakfast: cantaloupe wedge (I already ate mine), coffee with unsweetened almond milk, scrambled eggs with salt and pico de gallo.

P.S. Check out the "KETO Hacks" thread on the launchpad. Tons of good ideas there.

Oh, canned fish is cheap, easy and shelf-stable. Canned fish + any greens = instant salad that's filling enough for a meal.

Hi there, I've been working on getting in the habit of bulk cooking for myself and my family, so while we're not exactly in the same boat, I think a lot still applies: *Look for big cuts of meat you can roast. Look for easy roast recipes on the internet. It really doesn't have to be more complicated than salt, pepper and a…

Of course it’s already on the launchpad. Thanks @baconslave!

This is great! I hope it’s part of the Launchpad now. Thanks @DietPrada

Planning ahead: Monday meal prep only got us through about Thursday, so tomorrow I need to double or triple recipes and just buy more food. Our grocery bill has been higher this month, but some of that is paying for supplements that I won't usually have to buy all at once. Besides, I'd rather spend the money at the grocery…

Checking in here daily just isn't realistic for me, but I'm trying to check in at least once weekly. Starting weight this week: 180.2 (up from a brief and slight dip into the 170's--179.8 to be precise.) Goal weight: I'm a little fuzzy on this, because healing is my primary motivator right now. But I figure I could stand…

Great replies here already, just chiming in to say “take pics”. Before and progress pics are so helpful for showing you how far you’ve come. Congrats on your success thus far!

I missed the part bout checking in daily, too. For the week of 1/18: Water: I was NOT great about tracking this, and started drinking more coffee and iced tea toward the end of the week. I need to get serious about drinking and logging actual water more frequently. Electrolytes Good: :) supplementing helped a lot. Still…

Water: check Electrolytes Good: supplemented mg glycinate, sought out high potassium foods, will drink more pickle juice before bed to stave off the midnight headache. Logged Food: check Exercise as Planned: planned to rest today, since I both walked and did Tae Kwon Do yesterday At or Under Carb Level: Yes, 118 (gross—a…

Yes, I also check micronutrients, but allow for a pretty big margin of error in MFP food data.

Hi and welcome! Just getting back in the groove myself, working to relieve joint pain, among other things. Best wishes to you! Mary

Jumping in on Week 2. SW: 184.8 Height: 5' 8-1/2" Planning ahead: There's a fair amount of meat in the fridge and freezer. I need to run some cabbage through the food processor and restock some veggies and other groceries. Doing some meal prep today and possibly tomorrow, since these are my two days off during the week.…

Merry Christmas, low carbers! From on the road in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Karlotta, wow!! 3:30 and a fat roll melted away? Serious NSVs there! I am tempted to try another timed plank challenge this evening.

Yum! I have a similar salmon recipe which involves glueing herbs and salt onto the salmon with mayo, too. I'd like to try your version.

On sale for $2.50/lb today at my local grocery.

I tried giving up logging recently, and it proved to be too slippery a slope for me. I don't benefit from trying to get really exact with logging, but the act of simply noting everything I eat and drink all day tends to keep me on plan.

Yup, this happened to me, too. I missed two whole periods. I'm waiting to see if it happens again this time. I turn 36 tomorrow, have 3 young kids, and my husband had a vasectomy after #3. I was sweating it a little when I went so long between cycles, but sure enough, it was just a hormonal adjustment. My body temp goes…

I almost non-committed to this challenge, deciding only to hold myself accountable for reading the post, and here I am getting swept up in it anyway. I declared this week "No Snacking Week", and this is the middle of Day 2. I'm finding that it's forcing me to be more mindful about what I eat. If I know it's going to be…

3 eggs scrambled in butter, out of which my kids took about 1. Coffee with HWC. One Best Maid whole dill pickle, which was so dang sour and salty I could barely stand it.

Just wanted to share my dinner, which was so delicious and simple, at a local restaurant. We rarely go to restaurants these days, so it was a big treat. Chicken breast topped with grilled onions, mushrooms, poblano pepper strips and Monterey Jack cheese, with grilled zucchini and yellow squash on the side, as well as…

Bravo @neohdiver! Beautiful changes there!

Since it sounds like he's very reluctant to take this on, maybe it would help to tweak your approach a little to try to get more buy-in from him. In the end, he has to be the one to decide to make these lifestyle changes, which are dramatic changes. If he's not keen on eating vegetables right now, try forgetting the…
