Kerrygold is on sale...
...at my local HEB. Being so close to St. Patrick's Day, it might be on sale near you, too. If you never tried Kerrygold butter, it's worth a try, even though it's easily double the cost of regular butter most of the time. Especially if you are a BPC fan, or like eating butter by itself. They have great cheese, too.

OT: Ladies, swimsuit recs?
Hi ladies! It is sooooo good to be back, and I have enjoyed catching up on threads while I'm "down" with mild keto flu symptoms. I wanted to ask if any of you have recommendations for a flattering one-piece swimsuit, modest but without a ton of fabric on it? I have one swimsuit that fits well enough for me to wear, but it…

Long term low carbers: Do you notice a difference in how often or intensely you get sick?
Hi folks, Cold and flu season is well upon us, and I've been curious to see how well my immune system will respond this year, now that I'm around 6 months into the low(ish) carb, mostly grain free WOE. So far, I've had days in which I felt pretty run down and could have sworn I was about to get sick, but haven't gotten…

Mono- and Diglycerides in HWC
Hey folks, I have recently informally embarked on a mission to rid my diet of processed foods, to the extent that I can. I discovered the other day, to my dismay, that my store brand heavy whipping cream is made with mono- and diglycerides. As far as I can tell from some cursory research, these are extremely common…

looking for resources for my husband
Hi folks, My husband went to our GP about reflux, and had some bloodwork done. He got the results back, and the doc wants to put him on an acid blocker (like Prilosec) and now statins, too, because his overall cholesterol number is 288. I don't have the HDL/LDL numbers or any other numbers at this point, but hope to see…

Updated Before/After Pics
I can't find the old Transformation Tuesday thread, so I'll go ahead and create a new one. Would love to see some updates on some of your Before/Afters, too! First set of pics (in white socks) were taken 7/15/2015, at 168.4 lbs. Second set were taken today, 9/30/2015 at 158 lbs.

Forgive me for bragging, but...
...this is the best thing that has ever happened to my mom's spaghetti sauce recipe. Don't tell her I said that, of course. Chicken breasts, pounded flat, seasoned with salt and pepper, rolled up around cream cheese and that ground meat marinara sauce. Pyrex baking dish drizzled in olive oil. Chicken rolls nestled in…

What's in your slow cooker?
The last of the lamb bones, with some veggie odds and ends to make bone broth. I thought it might be fun to have a slow cooker photo thread. :-) Happy Monday! ETA: yes, that's corn in there, from my kids' leftover dinner veggies. I'm too lazy to pick it out.

Did you see the blog today?
https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/why-eat-less-exercise-more-isnt-a-good-weight-loss-strategy/ It's vague, but a step in the right direction, at least. Cut refined carbs if the standard CICO advice isn't working for you. Hmm...

Legit criticism of LCHF?
Hi folks, Just to play devil's advocate, I was cruising the web this afternoon, looking for any hard science debunking the LCHF approach to diet. I found lots of click-bait headlines, but the articles were emore neutral than the headline would suggest, poorly written, or drew conclusions that didn't seem to follow from…

Last 90 days' worth of carbs...
I don't remember whether this is a Premium feature or not. I signed up for MFP Premium a while back and keep meaning to cancel because I don't think it offers good enough features to justify the cost. But it's fun to be able to look back and see what my macros and other nutrient levels have been over the past 90 days.…

Skin, hair and nails
Hi folks, One of the benefits of LCHF I've read about is that it gives you nicer skin, hair and/or nails. This is not something I'm experiencing, as far as I can tell. I suspect hormones are always involved, and I'm still nursing a baby, so there's that. I seemed to be bruising more easily than usual for a while, but that…

Pitfalls of Fall?
Hi LCHF folks! We're in the dog days of summer here in the 100-degree-for-a-month-or-more Austin area. This time of year, my thoughts always turn longingly toward fall. I've heard some folks say it's easier not to eat when it's hot outside. If that's true, I'd be big as a house if I lived further north. In the spirit of…

Is there a LCHF version of Blue Apron out there?
Hey folks, I'm reading about Blue Apron, which delivers ingredients and dinner recipes, for a subscription fee. I'm not far enough along to even know what the cost is, because it doesn't look like they have a low carb option. They might not deliver to my town, either, but I was thinking maybe they'd deliver to my husband's…

OT: anyone tried gotfunction.com for exercise training?
Hi folks, In browsing YouTube videos in search of a good stretch for my overly tight hamstrings, I stumbled on a video from gotfunction.com, which led me to their website. I think they put out a lot, if not all of their content, free. The idea is to help folks build up functional, balanced fitness from fundamental…

Loose skin, vericose veins and spider veins, oh my!
Hi folks, Is there any hope for dealing with these issues, outside of cosmetic procedures? Is there any light of hope from the low-carb experts? Any exercise advice for prevention? Don't get me wrong, if these are the costs of getting older and I get to live at a healthy weight in a body free from major pain and problems,…

Breakfast pics
just for fun...what does your breakfast look like? My kids are sleeping in late, for the first time ever since the little guy was born. I'm treating myself to bacon (cooked 3 strips, saving 2 for the kids), kale sautéed in the bacon grease, and eggs cooked in what was left of that yummy grease, with my lazy woman's BPC on…

I'm looking forward to...

Anybody using MFP Premium?
Does it do anything worth the cost? Thanks!

Tell me about fasting, IF
Hi folks, I'm holding off on seriously experimenting with fasting, even though I feel like I could skip a meal without turning into a raging beast, because I'm still nursing my 11-month-old. I don't want to suddenly tank my supply on him, even though he gets most of his nutrition from other foods now. Still, I'm interested…

Jaw-drop moment
So, I had some friends over this weekend, dear friends, good people. Moms, Dads and their kids whom we've known for years. Hubby smoked a brisket, which turned out fantastic, and we had lots of other yummy things, too. Everyone had just started serving up, I had given my daughters their plates and parked my 11-month-old…

Funny epiphany about drinking broth/sodium
I realized today that I couldn't stomach drinking plain broth before, not because it was too salty, as I had suspected, but because it wasn't salty enough. I just added a 1/2 tsp iodized salt to a warm 8oz cup of organic beef broth, and it's tasty! Kind of like Ramen, minus the noodles and msg.

Caffeine
I'm sure this has been discussed at some point in this group before, so I apologize if it's ground you've already covered. I have been moderately addicted to caffeine for most of my adult life. Not a big problem, since my addictions have always been unsweetened coffee and iced tea... or is it a big problem? There is a lot…

Easing off Keto, steering toward Paleo/Primal, minimal dairy
Hey folks, Reflecting on my experiences over the last couple of weeks, I've decided to leave the Keto carb range for now, and add back a bunch of non-starchy vegetables and a little bit of fruit, cut way back on dairy, and try out something along the lines of Paleo or Primal for at least 6 weeks. I'm not sure what my carb…

Sick again
Hi folks, I'm on my last day of vacation before the big drive home, and I woke up with a severe headache, diarrhea and vomiting this morning. I just got over something similar a week or two ago, so I'm equal parts concerned and frustrated. In between the stomach issues, I've had a sore throat and cough. Basically I haven't…

You know you've changed your mindset when...
I found myself at the nearest Wal-Mart (we're on vacation) looking at the center-cut bacon, thinking "nah, it doesn't have the fatty ends on it". I'm sure you guys have had moments like that. Let's hear 'em!

TMI/Gross question
Sorry if it's already been covered elsewhere, but... Are stool changes part if the deal in LCDs? Frequency/consistency/color? I'm not seeing anything obviously alarming (no blood or anything like that), and I have been sick lately (though much better today), but things are looking a little odd in the bowl. Thanks for any…

Bloating
Good morning folks, I wouldn't say I'm fully keto-adapted yet, but I'm a little ways down that road (10 days, or something like that.) I've upped my food intake (and correspondingly, calories) since getting a stomach bug and recovering. I've felt better on more calories, so I figured I was on the right track. Last night to…

How can you tell if you're in ketosis?
Sorry, as I'm sure this ground has been covered in this group before, but how do you know when you're in or out of ketosis? I saw the post about Keto stix, but it seems like maybe they're not a reliable gauge. Thanks in advance!

Finally well enough to grocery shop for myself, so...
Here's how I'm choosing to celebrate. Got my appetite back, too, and my energy is returning. Hooray!
