  • all I can say is the soreness is normal. It will be less and less the more you stay consistent. If you take too long of a break, you will be sore all over again. I sometimes dont work out for a week sometimes two weeks, oh boy, I pay for those breaks in the end.
  • Im doing it in a man made lake. Im in hot and humid Houston, with a feels like temp of 106 degrees today and its only mid June. Still have 3 weeks until the event so I can imagine it will only get hotter. Thanks for all the tips friends!!!
  • Im throwing a shirt over after swimming, so I will be biking and running. Its a sport bikini
  • If you are getting pedicures, make sure they are not scrubbing your feet. You need your feet to callus.
  • good for you!! Trust me, one day it will stick.... and this might be the one time it does!! Who cares about all the other times, thats history. You got this! Tip... never ever ever ever ever give up. Even if you miss a week here and there, even if its July and you miss the entire month! Dont wait until New Years to start…
  • thanks everyone!!!!! I'm excited, scared, emotional, lol. Cant wait to get my medal (and possibly boohoo) and finally have my bragging rights as a marathon runner!!! Come hell or high water, Ill cross that finish line even if I am crawling! favorite all time running quote.... "There is Magic in Misery, Just ask any Runner"
  • sign up for a marathon taking place January 17th and you wont have any issues gaining during the holidays lol
  • I use one and its not because I dont know how to work out. I just prefer someone telling me what to do :) Whatever gets you in the gym....
  • thanks for everyones guidance. I have been training since July, so I have had a chance to build up to my long runs with no injury. When I did my 20 miles last Saturday, I felt fine, no problems. The next day my body felt fine, no soreness, pain, etc... I didnt feel like I even ran at all. So as far as the…
  • thank you!! As you know, much of this training is all mental, so missing what is supposed to be my 13 mile run mentally works against me just the same, lol. It slightly stresses me out. But I see what you are saying. All my training runs to date have been good. I've finally got my nutrition and hydration perfected so I…
  • thanks guys!! I feel better now about just getting in my 6 miles. @ pobalita, good point, this might actually be a good recovery week making my long run that much better.
  • Monday-1 hr strength class Tuesday-1 hr Personal Trainer Wednesday-4-5 mile run Thursday-1 hr outdoor bootcamp Friday-1 hr Personal Trainer or 1 hr spin class Saturday-5-6 mile run Sunday-rest
  • Seriously glad that I stumbled on this thread.... I just recently started to stretch before running. Now I notice my hamstrings are tightening up. This makes total sense now! I was wondering why I never had issues before. Here I was trying to keep my body limber by stretching and I think I actually injured myself instead.…
  • you can do it!! lol
  • eat some more sugar. Last week I couldnt complete my run because I wasnt eating enough sugar and was light headed and dizzy with zero energy. Just a thought...
  • Yeah, the ONE & ONLY time I had food in me during one of my training runs, I got the worst stomach cramps. I think it was an 11 miler. I ate and then ran about 2 hours later. Food was not digested and I felt nauseous when I was done. Never again. It really is different for everyone though. Another friend of mine runs 1/2's…
  • I have a pretty nice booty which I admit fill out my jeans quite nicely. Wouldnt want it any other way :)
  • I wish I had that struggle, lol. jk I see where you are coming from
  • yes, ive heard the full is a different beast. Gonna have to change it up and see what works best for me. Since running on empty for the 1/2 is all ive ever known while training, its actually not that hard for me. It did help that my long runs and actual race were in the winter.... so it was pleasant. Ok, enough about me,…
  • I dont think the UK is as hot and humid as Houston TX. Im usually soaked after every run. Even after a small 5k run. Oh, for the record.... I never drink water on my runs, it slows me down. The longest Ive ever ran is a 1/2 marathon. Training for my first full in January and I suppose I will not be able to go without water…
  • really? I see them all the time. Not everyone is on the same fitness level and some will need a water break.
  • you will get lots of answers here... For me, I eat nothing the day of event. I ran my half marathon on an empty stomach. The night before, I tackle some grilled chicken, rice and macaroni :) I like carbs :) Keep in mind, you will have at least one water stop in a 5k which should have some gatorade or similar drink for…
  • ughhh, that sux. I know how excited you must have been. I had my first half in January and I know the feeling of training and the excitement to show off all your hard work :(
  • I got PF after losing my weight, lol. So not really sure if that makes a difference or not.
  • congrats! dont let him go easy on you. Allow him to push you out of your comfort zone.
  • well, for me, I allow myself 2 cheat meals a week. Meaning, I dont watch calorie intake for those 2 meals. I will have a huge dessert and any amount of wine I desire, plus a calorie filled entree, lol. I eat within my goals every other day of the week, so the 2 "cheat" meals really dont make a difference. Perhaps you could…
