Plantar Fasciitis, Weight Loss and Running

Hi! I was hoping that some of you could tell me if your PF got better after you lost weight, particularly if you started running. Sadly, I used to run, but high arches and unsupportive insoles sidelined me to the elliptical. Now, I have the PF under control with custom orthotics, stretching and a night splint (I have very high arches,so much so the podiatrist looks and remarks on how substantial they are)., but I'm afraid to start running. I'm 180, 5'6" and SLOWLY taking off weight. So, if you can give any insight--how much weight did you lose and see a difference in your ability to manage PF. I'm only aiming to take off 15/20 pounds at this point, and I guess I'm hoping such a small loss will have an impact on my feet. Thanks!!
