  • I wear my Asics Gel Kayanos to every class. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. Initially they had too much traction on the floor, but as I've continued to wear them, the bottoms have worn to the point where I have all the traction I still need, but now I can also slide around on the floor as needed without…
  • You definitely want to make sure you're doing at least some weight training. If you only do cardio, you will lose muscle along with the fat. By adding in weight training, you can maintain and even build that muscle, which will only help you out. It will make the scale move slower, but check your measurements and you'll…
  • I'm 5'3" and 330. I usually wear a 28, sometimes a 26, depending on how they're made. Tops are usually 3-4X. Back at my highest point, 363, I could barely get into some of the 28s, but now they're fitting better.
  • I lost a bunch of weight before and became athletic for a while, where I'd go running and mountain biking all the time. Then I let the stress of work get to me and I gained all my weight back plus more, and that was all before MS decided it wanted to take over my life. In December, I had a flare that made my lower body so…
  • Your best bet is to try both and see which one you prefer. I'm a member of Gold's gym and I love mine, but I went out of town once and used the Gold's there and it didn't even compare to the gym I use every day. I never did classes before joining, but now that's all I do. Their classes are great, and there are so many that…
  • You look amazing! Great job!
  • It would be best if you can see what this trainer is like before committing. Personal trainers can be really great, but in my experience, most of them are not. I've had 7 trainers in my life and most of them were horrible. Some don't know any more than I do, and others are just lazy and don't care. One guy made me do the…
  • I took it along with another drug for two months back in 2011, and I didn't get the scary side effects a lot of others have reported, but it also didn't decrease my appetite at all. I did notice I had more energy, but that also meant I couldn't sleep at night either. The second month, I started getting headaches every day.…
  • I can't stand it when you're in a full class and the people around you act like you're not even there. No, I don't want you running into me because you're too stupid to look behind before backing up! Not too long ago, I was in the locker room and overheard these stuck up girls complaining about people using the…
  • I can't answer why there is such a huge difference, but I would be scared to trust either one. If you really want to find out how many calories you're burning, you'd be better off getting a heart rate monitor. It would be much more accurate than MFP and the machine. When I wore a heart rate monitor, it showed that I burned…
  • I just started doing Zumba less than 2 months ago. I'm hoping I will have the results you guys are posting. It is addictive, and now I don't do it because it's exercise, I do it because I love it.
  • Surgery is a huge decision and you should really think about it before going through with it. I used to work in an operating room, and that has helped in my decision to be anti-surgery, and also watching others who have had it done turns me away. The gastric bypass, even if laparoscopic, is a huge deal. That is a major…
  • I'm 330 lbs and the first time I logged a Zumba workout into MFP, it told me I burned over 1300 calories. I wear a bodybugg and it shows that I usually burn around 700-800 calories for an hour, so MFP overestimated by at least 500 calories. I also walk out of those classes completely drenched. I'm sure if I tried hard…
  • Welcome! I've only been on here for about a week, but this is such a great site! It makes you so much more aware of what you're really eating, and it's also nice interacting with others who are going through this journey as well.
  • I have the BodybuggSP, which I think is one of the newer ones. It has bluetooth, so it is really easy to sync to my phone. I couldn't do that with the bodybugg app though because it was horribly inaccurate (the one time I did it said I burned over 12,000 calories in half a day). Now that I'm subscribed to Bodymedia, I can…

  • Have you switched your subscription over to the bodymedia fit yet? I just did and it is so much better than the bodybugg site. With the bodymedia site, you can sync it to your MFP account and it'll automatically transfer everything between the two sites.

  • Don't worry, just go out there and have fun. I'm the worst person in the classes that I attend, but I don't care because I love it, and one day I won't be the worst anymore. Each class gets easier as you learn the moves and become more fit.
  • I've just started going to Zumba classes in the last month or so and I love it! The more I go, the more addicted I become. I have balance issues and a weak lower body, so I have to modify it to my ability, but it has helped me to strengthen up so much in just a short time. Each class I do I can do more of the moves. I wear…
  • I'm 5'3" and 331.8 this morning and I usually wear a size 28 in pants and, depending on how it fits, either a 3X or 4X in shirts. It is unbelievable how much the same size varies from one brand to another, and in many cases, the same brand. I've got a few different things from Torrid, and one pair of 28 capris is too tight…
  • I'm pretty new to this game and I had a pretty similar experience. I opted for Copaxone (my neuro won't prescribe oral meds), but my insurance denied it because I hadn't tried an interferon first. The flu-like side effect profile scared me to death, and I wasn't thrilled about having to have my liver enzymes checked all…
