  • I am a teacher on break and my summer goal is to walk at least one hour a day. So far so good. I am a stress eater and summers have been great for loosing weight for me.
  • For some reason my family feels like they need to inform me of my weight status every time they see me, whether I gained or lost. Drives me insane. I tell them that not every random thought regarding my looks that enters their brain needs to come out of their mouth but there seems to be a serious look of impulse control.…
  • I have three kids . The oldest has special needs and was a very hyper youngster and the twins were two years younger. We had no money for the gym or a sitter, no family and no friends or neighbors who were willing or able to watch them. I was alone with them for 12 hours a day. I lost 50 pounds by walking and counting…
  • I got my last job when I was at my highest weight. There were a large number of applicants but I was very confident about my skills and it showed. I think sometimes when we are at a high weight our confidence suffers and we sell ourselves short.
  • Candy. I used to have a huge sweet tooth but once I hit my 40th (years not pounds) it went away.
  • My 5 cents: School starts in a few weeks. You can choose to re-loose the weight you gained and feel pretty good, or you can throw your diet and gain a few more pounds and feel like crap. My vote would be for feeling good.
  • Living well is the best revenge.
  • I am sorry to here about your diagnosis, it is a lot to wrap your mind around. I too was raised to 'not be an imposition' and it took me a good 30 years to realize that I short change friends and family by not allowing them to extend themselves when I need help. I am still a work in progress myself. Take care off yourself…
  • I decided as well to weigh once a month and instead of numbers to focus on eating healthy and feeling well. I do not count calories either, just focus on sensible portions of healthy foods. Numbers tend to preoccupy and trigger me.
  • I am so sorry for your loss. You need to do what you need to do to make it through. I did loose about 40 pounds a number of years back. When I was getting close to my goal when one of my children was diagnosed with a serious livelong disability. I had a hard time adjusting and figuring out how to navigate doctors and…
  • I love them. I used to make them as a casserole with lots of olive oil, now I usually have them with a butter, mustard and lemon sauce. I should try them roasted.
  • I drink 2 tbsp. of apple cider vinegar each day. I tend to have some serious vinegar cravings and find it refreshing in a glass of water. While the vinegar and other fermented foods are good for you, I do not think that they will provide some miracle weight loss effect.
  • Yep, very exciting. My partner and I have been together 24 years and it looks like we will be getting married this fall. I will try my best to get into shape for the wedding photos :blushing:
