  • Vacation for me meant no scales, no worries, eating whatever I wanted (since it was all-inclusive) and being as lazy as I wanted to if I wanted to be THAT lazy. ENJOY.
  • MFP had me at around 1920/day (I'm about your height) and then I upped it to 2000. Then I eat back my exercise calories, even if it's just walking. So I think 1970 + eating back exercise calories is a good place to start... ...then see where it goes.
  • I have never given up eating anything so this was not an issue for me. I still eat the same stuff I always did---just less of it. That being said, if I did I'd either give it away to people I know or donate it.
  • Just donated two big bags. Kept the rest of my stuff that was nicer/newer just in case.
  • Congrats. I was only gone for five days but I was at an all-inclusive and didn't believe in healthy at the time. :-) That meant I "gained" six pounds in a trip that wasn't even five full days. :\ But it all came off in about a week/week-and-a-half. Just had to get back to business.
  • FYI: 5'8" and 130 pounds is technically not underweight if you are using BMI standards. I am teetering on the borderline with a weight of 126-127 at 5'9.25" tall. (And I definitely don't have tiny bones!) My question for you: how many calories are you eating being in maintenance? I get in around 2,000 a day BEFORE…
  • SW: 170 GW: Multiple GWs! CW: 127 Been maintaining since December.
  • You only eat 1300 calories/day with that activity level? That needs to be upped first. Way too low. Then add on the additional calories for the baby.
  • I actually did 5:2 to lose weight so when I came back from vacation six pounds heavier, I pulled out the 5:2 again and the weight came off. I will do 6:1 to maintain sometimes or at least have one very low calorie day so I can pig out on a day that I have off from work. :-)
  • At least 2K/day without adding back any exercise calories, which for me would just be walking. 1500s sounds too low.
  • I would like some more friends who maintain---some of the people on my list eat so little everyday in "maintenance." :/ Feel free to add.
  • Hey now! I walk to Wendy's all of the time just so I can eat Wendy's. (It's over an hour walk.) How many weeks has it been? Ten minutes of walking isn't going to burn much, unfortunately.
  • Great! When I hit 150 (my original goal), I also decided to keep going. I think normal weight range for my height is like 126-169. Just kept doing what I was doing to get to my first goal and success. Then I made another goal and kept going. It was much easier, mentally, for me that way.
  • OP: Try a different pedometer. Something sounds very wrong. I am taller and take very big strides. And when I walked around four miles last weekend, it was around 8K steps. Half an hour of walking will easily add a few thousand steps.
  • Is there no where to walk during breaks/lunch? (Outside, that is.) The place I work is only two floors and they made an indoor walk-a-mile in the basement only for those who want to get in their steps.
  • Husband and I are practically the same way. I weigh almost everyday. He will only weigh in after a fasting day.
  • I could eat 2K/day without doing anything. You need to give yourself some time to adjust to the calorie increase. OP, you need a maintenance range not a number. My range is 125-129. If I hit 130, I think I might be overdoing the food. There are days where my husband fasts and the next day his weight is higher. Weight…
  • Personally, I think you look thin but not too thin. (I'd avoid further weight loss as well.)
  • My husband and I decided on the Friday we came home from an all-inclusive (AKA EAT/DRINK NON-STOP) vacation we would still eat like pigs because we thought just going into "better" mode would be hard and annoying. Then we tried to be slightly better the next day and slightly better the day after that. Getting back into our…
  • I'm 5'9"ish and when I was in the 150s, I always wore sizes 8-10. When I was in the 140s in HS, I always wore 6-8. Now I can fit into a 4 but I'm in the 120s. I actually never thought that would be possible b/c I have wide hips but I have no butt and I'm the very low end of the BMI scale so I didn't see a big size change…
  • Calculators will still only give you a rough estimate. 2K for me without any working out.
  • I get on the scale and I'm very happy to see where I am every morning. (Well, I don't weigh in everyday but most days.) I love the feeling of trying on small sizes and still being surprised that they fit.
  • From what I've read, nothing has ever discussed bust at all. Most of what I have read seems to suggest nowadays, hip-to-waist ratio is more indicative of overall health than BMI. Belly fat is the really big no-no nowadays. 5'9.25" B: 35 W: 26.5 H: 36.5
  • Weight is officially off. Did 5:2 the week I came back and adios. The first few days the weight didn't want to move but after that, all good.
  • I've only been maintaining since December 2013 but whenever I start to lose motivation, I try to remember why I did this in the first place and how good it feels to be here. Refocusing is normal and should be applied in various areas of life not just eating. :-) I lost weight doing 5:2 and whenever I feel like I need to…
  • I have a FitBit but I decided to desync it because it had my maintenance calories lower than even MFP did and I had upped mine from what MFP suggested. I didn't like it telling me I was overeating everyday.
  • I usually eat around 2,000/day. I don't work out. But I do run around at work a lot some days. :-) Any exercise I do, even just walking around, I will log and gladly eat back. I try to walk at least thirty minutes a day.
  • Once you change it to maintain, MFP tells you how many calories approximately you can eat on maintenance. Remember, it's all approximate. I decided to manually change mine and up my calories. I also eat back my "exercise" calories. No problems.
  • Does it fit into my calories for the day? If yes, it's all mine. No exercise needed. I usually try to do 6:1 and "fast" one day per week in order to have a day where I eat maybe 3500-4000 calories without care. This day would include drinks, things drenched in cheese, etc. No exercise needed. I am still trying to bring my…
  • More food, by FAR. While trying to lose weight, I never said NO to any type of food but now I can eat more of it. ;-)
