  • I finished losing my weight over a year ago. Was maintaining for awhile counting. Stopped counting and stayed within my window. Brutal winter meant no exercise for me, since I can't tolerate the cold and I'm all about walking. Few more pounds and I reached my limit so now I'm back on 5:2 and then plan on going back to 6:1.
  • Highest: 170 Lowest: 124 Now: Bounce between 125-130. I'm attempting to go without counting calories for awhile to see if I can stay under 130. This is the lowest I've ever been---in HS, I usually bounced between 135-143.
  • I just decided that I would like to try maintaining without MFP. I stopped losing weight around December 2013 and I have been tracking since then---except on my "off days" (1/week) and vacations. So I am going to try that now even though it's not a great time---lots of stress-eating, horrible sleeping patterns making me…
  • My BMI is between 18.3-18.8 and I have yet to lose my period. Sometimes people lose their period going below 20 but they might also have a very low BF%, which also plays a role.
  • ^This. I have no belly fat and my hips stick out---still, I would never have a 22" waist---physically impossible for me.
  • How tall are you? I ask because I am a female and I will eat 2,000 calories before doing anything. (Even walking I add back for exercise calories to eat.) Not only are you active but you work out as well? You should be eating more than 2400 calories/day.
  • Holy water weight, batman. Lost about seven pounds in two days. No real exercise (the normal for me) just walking.
  • Um, you know I get this already right? No need to explain things to me like I'm an idiot. I hope your explanation is directed toward others. The point of this post was to demonstrate that people should not freak out over temporary weight gains on vacation that mostly are not real. I've been through this before (June, I…
  • I've been going over calories every week now for the past month (at least) and have been at my lowest weight, which makes me think even with a maintenance of 2K before exercise, I can afford a few extra calories here or there. Honestly, I find that it doesn't matter for me. (YMMV) If I go over once a week or so, as long as…
  • If they didn't have what you did, then you should have put your calories at moderately active. This would have given you more calories. You will not know without trying. I really do hope you see someone professionally. I already gave my advice on the best possible way for you to increase your calories.
  • You have been eating at a low number for awhile. Please tell me you at least eat back exercise calories. Aside from getting some professional help, you might want to up your calories slowly (50-100/week) and not panic if you gain a few pounds. That will inevitably come off. Honestly, your maintenance is probably going to…
  • Went to Jamaica for five days (only three full days!) and came back 6-7 pounds heavier. I know it was mostly water weight but it still took about two weeks to come off. No worries, my clothes still fit. ;-)
  • Trial and error. Start with a baseline and work from there. I used MFPs maintenance calculator and set it for "lightly active." FitBit had maintenance calories set too low for me, IMO. Then after a few weeks (even though I wasn't losing) I decided to up my calories a little more and it was fine. I actually might do that…
  • For cheaper dresses, I recently saw that Old Navy has tall sizes too in just about everything---shirts, pjs, dresses, etc.
  • Just an FYI---FitBit also had me at less calories than MFP and I moved my maintenance calories up from both. FB had me in the 1800s, MFP had me in the 1900s and I moved myself up to 2K. I just ignored FB and did what I wanted to do and I haven't gained a pound. I actually don't like FB and find that it's a piece of junk.
  • Been maintaining since December 2013. Feel free to add.
  • I would eat them all, yes. No fear!
  • I think I put myself as lightly active and MFP had me around 1920 calories. I bumped it up manually to an even 2000. Then I usually eat back any exercise calories, which for me usually only ends up being walking.
  • I would not take advice from someone whose first sentiment is that something less than 500 calories could be considered a binge. Eat cereal if you want to. Your body is craving food because it sounds like you are used to being on 1200 calories (not sustainable) and I'm not sure what you're currently upping your calories to…
  • The only thing I drink is whole milk---in terms of milk products, that is. Why don't you just give it some time and see if it's fine?
  • Almost daily. I might not if I feel disgusting or like I really overdid it the night before but other than that, yeah.
  • Back in HS, I never went over 143 pounds. I thought it was great because I ate like crap. Then, when I got more sedentary, my weight went up to around 155. But fine, I didn't go above that for like five years. Then my weight went up again, even more sedentary, to around 170 pounds. That was enough. Somehow, I've managed to…
  • Eat some more calorie-dense foods. I always read these posts about people who feel like they can't eat more and I just don't understand---that's all I want to do. LOL.
  • May I ask why you're maintaining on such a low number? I'm your height, only three pounds less than you and I maintain on 2K without exercise.
  • On busy days at work, I'll easily get over 4K. I have to get up and down a lot. I walk fast so I can get in steps pretty easily. Also, I live in the city, so walking is what we do---everywhere. :-) I hate that I have to drive to work but what can you do.
  • Honestly, I would eat all of them back. I always try to.
  • Without exercise, I'll eat around 2K/day. Any exercise I do, I put in MFP and eat back. The only exercise I really do is walking. I try to hit 10K steps/day. Sometimes I hit 20K. Sometimes more. That's what I did when I was losing and that's what I do to maintain. However, now I'm trying to slowly add some additional…
  • I gained six pounds in less than five full days of vacation. The first few days it didn't want to really budge. I did eat at a deficit twice the week I returned (I did 5:2 to lose the weight so I went back to that) and slowly it started to come back off. It might have come off more slowly but I'm impatient. Have you…
  • I didn't. I won't. Found out that Walgreen's was selling candy bars for .39. I walked out with two, plan on going back for more and ate one immediately upon leaving the store.
  • Yes, MFP and FitBit both had me at a lower number than I could maintain at so I upped it myself. I think most people are scared to up it a little bit but I find most people could probably tack on another hundred or two calories if they aren't just sitting around all day long.
