  • Having lived in Europe for a few decades and then in Canada, I have to say that there is way more pressure to look good in Europe than in Canada. Then what comes to plastic surgery, it is one's choice. If you want to get it done, go ahead. If you are against plastic surgery, don't get it done.
  • East Asian foods are really hard for low carbers. But there are some ways to eat it... Skip noodles and rice. I think Thai soup is fine. Or just take a little break from the diet.
  • Talk to her. If she is too tired to workout, do your workout alone. Tell her nicely that if she wants to workout, she has to be the one making the choice. You don't have to wait for your wife to eat with her. If you are hungry, eat first...
  • Thanks for the welcome! I have been on-and-off for four months (mostly off) but I started again about a week ago.
  • Exactly. Both parties' feelings have to be taken in account. It is not about me me me, it is we we we. Talk to him. Go on with therapy if you have to, if he listens to the therapist better... The therapist then should tell him to listen to you. Tell him how it makes you feel when he talks to you the way he does. If he does…
  • What others said. It would be almost impossible to keep ketoing during the holidays. I am gonna take a short break on Christmas and then maybe New Years eve too, will see... But then I get right back to eating clean.
  • Sounds interesting but I am not gonna participate, sorry. Having just eggs sounds almost nauseating to me, but that is just my opinion. Although I have heard of no-carb fasts in which you of course do not have any carbs, just protein and fat. Such as bacon, other meat, fish, fats etc.
  • Both are fine. I use olive oil more, though, something with the flavor that is more appealing to me. *shrug*
  • The great thing with NYC is that it was Dr Atkins' home town, and it shows in grocery stores and restaurants. I went there in 2005... They had some low carb options on restaurant menus. And of course, ask the waiter how the food is prepared, no fast carbs, ask for a salad instead of potatoes, dressing on the side etc.
  • Welcome from a fellow group newbie!
  • Go to a party after eating yourself full. Eat mostly healthy snacks, but allow some indulgence too. Cheat days are ok, keep your body guessing... But don't overdo indulging.
  • Hi from Ontario!
  • What did you do to lose the weight? Low fat diet? Low carb? Something else? Frigging lot of exercise? :)
  • Love it!
  • I have a Polar heart rate monitor. I don't think it can be synced with MFP but it does give me the number of calories that I burn.
  • He clearly had plans to pig out and drink, and since you were not his partner-in-crime, he didn't like it. Selfish of him, yes. Maybe next time you go out with a friend who doesn't know about your new life style, tell them about it first, and tell them that you have no intentions to pig out. Of course, you could get…
  • Bump! Good tips, dudes! Let's see if I have more... * Are you going out to eat? Find out if the restaurant has nutritional information of their dishes online and find out what the macros are then pick a few choices from the menu that you know are ok with your diet. * For low-carbers: going to a burger restaurant to eat?…
  • Naked Love - Adam Lambert
  • A food scale - lover here too. I weigh or measure everything as well. I really recommend it! That, and my heart rate monitor are my fave two special toys for weight loss :)
  • Be more careful when you exercise. If your tailbone is still causing pain, go see a doctor and see what you can do. If you can't work with your lower body, work with your upper body. Sit on a chair or your bed, then start boxing. Shadow-boxing burns calories nicely. If you are sick, you are not supposed to exercise. Stick…
  • I just had the battery of my heart rate monitor changed at a jewelry store. Try any watch or jewelry store. The worst they can do is say that they can't do it and then you just go to the next store :)
  • Hi and welcome to the forum! I am not familiar with your condition, but hopefully there is someone here who can help.
  • So nice to meet other Canadians here! :) Of course, everyone else is welcome to say hi as well ;)
  • I totally agree. I prefer using a scale and I can track my weight easily that way. I have weighed myself every day, which is probably not the right thing to do, and seeing progress gives me hope and if I stall or gain weight, I get a wake-up call and have to think what to do.
  • Ontario. I sent you a friend request and already befriended liketoyak :)
  • It takes a while to learn the ropes, don't be too hard on yourself :) So BBQ potluck. Maybe bring something healthy there to eat, so you will eat healthy food for sure. Bring maybe a veggies tray and munch on them as well? Make sure to fill your stomach with healthy food. Then you are not hungry any more and it is easier…
  • Farming is a newer phenomenon in Western countries, compared to Asia and Middle-East... That is why people who are of European descent can't digest grains as well as Asians and Middle-Easterners. So genetics is helping Asians stay slim. However, even if you are thin, it does not mean that you are healthy... And the fact…
  • A friend of mine did that to me the last time I was on a diet. I wanted to punch something or show her the international finger sign, I was so angry!!! Next time they do that, answer something like "I don't like pink slime, but you go ahead." and then wink at her and smile as if you have something to hide. Or when they…
