  • Weight training is precisely what I am referring to. People tend to focus very intently on cardio, but not weight training. In fact, weight training and building lean muscle actually provides more benefits for your metabolism.

  • I am an instructor, so I am a bit biased. It is a great workout. I do other things, because it is not an exercise fix in and of itself. It is a great cardio workout to break up the monotony of your routine. I tend to think people lean a little too heavily on it for total fitness though.

  • This is very sound advice! Many people have weight fluctuations because of water, and illness and fevers can cause the body to do funny things in regards to water. Do not stress about it. The extra stress will cause more damage than the 3 lbs. Just increase your water intake over the next couple days, and DO NOT let this…
  • 1.) This may vary from person to person based on arch and width. Go try on several. I understand being budget-minded, but don't skimp either. The right shoes can prevent certain injuries. 2.) I like the EA Sports game. It comes with a resistance band and works resistance in with cardio. It also monitors your heart rate…
  • ALMOND!!! I try to stay away from soy... You can read up on that if you like, just google it! (lots of is GMO).
  • Thanks SO much for your feedback. I would think you would get less points overall if fruits and veggies are free. Like anything, time will tell, but on mfp, it's tried and true!!!
  • A friend bought some WW lemon cake bar things the other day and they are 1 point. They have ZERO nutritional value, and almost 200 calories. This kind of system doesn't necessarily encourage healthy eating. Let's say I eat three as a treat. ONLY 3 points, but almost 600 calories (which would be half of my daily allotment…
  • So, to clarify, the new point formulation does not count calories into the configuration? I ask because I am a wellness coordinator for a company, and there are several people wanting to do WW. I am on here to check this out to possibly start an initiative using MFP, so I am very interested in your input.
  • I have read in MANY places that when you fall below 1200 calories, your body heads to starvation mode. Recently, I found that I was burning over 2000 per day, but was only eating 1200, and the deficit was too big. I am only trying to lose a few pounds, and the couple hundred extra on the deficit side was hurting me.
  • This is my entire issue with WW. The bottom line is that 3500 calories=1 pound. The body doesn't "think" in points. Also, please feel free to correct me, but you aren't necessarily watching your fat/carb/protein ratio with points either, which is important for overall health. I would try to watch both. If your calories are…
  • Hide it so that it is out of sight, out of mind! I am not suggesting that weighing is not good, but it is a gauge and a tool, and sometimes people lean SO heavily on that one number that they are ignoring the fact that they feel great and confident because of the choices they are making every day. I suggest it for your…
  • I have had my bodybugg for 8 months. I love it. It is like any tool, if you use it, you will see results and if you are lazy with it, you won't. It is based on calories in/calories out, but also tracks fat, carbs, and protein. I like that it helps balance what those calories are made up of. You have to put effort into it…
  • You are at a great place and a difficult place all at the same time! Congratulations n being where you are. I would give your brain a break from the scale and start to go with the calories in/calories out method alone for a while. Just focus on that and not weight. I create a deficit everyday (usually a BIG one), but still…
  • I have found that it's less about motivation and more about commitment and discipline. You have to want your goals more than other things (ie. sleep). Remind yourself how great you will feel afterward. I work a FT job, a PT job, go to school PT and have a family, but my health is too important to skip workouts. So, crank…
