I'm 6'1", 191 lbs. My goal height is 6'4".

Sounds counterproductive. Sorry. That just struck me as funny.

Stumbled across this old post, so I thought I'd throw out an update. I'm down another 13 lbs since December; and I've added 20 lbs to my squat and bench, 15 to my press, and 30 to my deadlift. I'm pretty happy with that since my gains have come while mostly eating at a deficit (albeit a small one), and dealing with some…

Universe is deterministic, so "fate" as you call it is all we have. For those that say you believe in free will, I say we have no choice but to do so.
-
Seems like that would violate conservation of energy.

Have you had someone check your form? Things we can get away with at a lower weight can restrict our progress when things start to get heavy. Recovery is important too. Strength programs generally counsel against doing other workouts at the same time since they essentially compete for those resources that would be used to…

BF%. Whatever my weight happens to be when I get there, so be it.
-
I think it's actually a fair point. I'm sure that's how more than one of us gained the weight to begin with.

I'd say this probably sums it up best, and I'll make one more attempt to clarify so that I can cease hijacking the thread. ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4273613/ It's long, and I don't expect you to read the whole thing, but basically it describes different responses to both positive and negative stimuli. In this case,…

And I congratulate you on your 125 pounds. Well done. But back when you just started out, what effect would the "hey, you're already a winner!" have on your determination? What if you hadn't lost any weight at all? Did you still win by creating an account? Effort, and results, matter. A lot. Don't give a procrastinator an…

No problem with phrasing it that way, but that's not how the OP phrased it, and that matters. The way you stated it has the implication that they're not nearly done, and I'm all for encouragement. But... ...is wrong.

If all they've done is create an account on a website, then uh...yeah. I can go buy a piano tomorrow. Until I actually learn how to play it a little, then it would be disingenuous of me to call myself a piano player, I think. But fine...baby steps. Everyone's a winner when they think about doing something.

The only expectation I have of them is that they not expect me to blow smoke up their *kitten*.
-
And I disagree. It's the equivalent of changing a Facebook profile picture in support of <insert thing here>, i.e. slacktivism. Makes you feel better about having done something without having actually done anything at all. It shouldn't be encouraged.

I'm on 40mg of simvastatin (used to be 80mg), but my total cholesterol was never over 300. Did the doctor prescribe medication yet? Even with meds, some sort of lifestyle change is in order to get that under control.

I'm going out on a limb and say that's high. What were the splits? LDL, Triglycerides, etc.
-
Sorry, but that's awful. Diabetes, heart disease, and cancer don't respect participation trophies.

Could be religious, which would still make it an ED (epistemological disorder).

Whether or not a person is "high maintenance" has absolutely nothing to do with that person, and instead is solely indicated by the perception of their significant other. If your spouse doesn't mind rubbing your feet every 37 minutes for exactly 114 seconds on each foot, and accepts the repercussions of failing to do so…

I just ate two apples.

I ran my current numbers through a BMR calculator, and then added 100 pounds and did it again. By the end of my "bulk", I would have to be eating roughly 720 calories more a day to maintain the same caloric surplus. So I agree, it is a little misleading. Eating an extra 120 calories seems pretty insignificant, but adding…

Somewhere from 25 to 35 minutes, I think.

You could buy a "Jump to Conclusions Mat".

I ate all the things, logged nothing, and I'm still a metric f-ton lighter than I was 6 months ago. Life is good. If one can overcome the results of years of overeating, then worrying about the effects of a single day or week seems ridiculous.
-
Then might I suggest you, as a courtesy, mention the suggestion to your PCP and then subsequently ignore it, unless your PCP thinks it's worth considering...and I'd be very, very surprised if they did.
-
To be clear, your primary physician didn't recommend the surgery, the doctor responsible for reviewing your sleep study results did?

Hard pressed to believe that the reason I would eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's in one sitting is because I had a Diet Dew with lunch...
-
I weigh myself much more frequently than you do, which is only meaningful because I have similar day-to-day, week-to-week massive fluctuations in BF% readings from my BIA scale that you're experiencing over the smaller sample. I have zero comfort in the validity of the actual numbers it puts out, but after charting them…

That would make sense to me, and would also explain why you need to up your carbs when trying to add LBM: reserving the protein to build/repair muscle instead of having some diverted for energy.
