how much R-ALA would you take daily? As I was used to 2 600mg caps at night of the regular ALA, but I see R-ala comes in 100, 200mg at best. How much would you recommend daily to sort of equal the 1200mg I was used to with regular ALA?

Thanks for taking the time to write this, it was both inspirational and consolatory :)

I did one for 4 days at the beginning of the month and kicked me right back into ketosis after the holidays. I think it really depends on where you are psychologically, cause back then I was still on holiday and basically was thinking about food all day long, so to wait the 4 hours between meals and to keep them all within…

I was looking around about ALA and found this topic: beside people who mainly workout, is there anyone who has used ALA just to kickstart ketosis, and if so, did it work? did it work alright?

I add a bit of desiccated coconut to mine and it tastes a bit like bounty, which I love!

added! and any keto pal can feel free to add me too :)

Hi there and good luck with your journey! We have very similar macros at the moment, I just try (not always succeed) at staying lower in calories, just in case, even though I noticed calories really only matter so much when you're in ketosis anyway :)
-
thanks for putting all these useful info into one neat post :)

It is different for everybody for what I understand but to kick your body into ketosis usually it's preferable to stay under 20g of carbs per day to begin with :)
-
I'll go drink more water just in case ;)

if you've been doing this for 35 days I think it's fair to assume you are into ketosis anyway already, so why don't you try fat fasting for a few days? For people where calories intake made not much difference, and going on a free carb day didn't do much either, it seems to be the best way to kickstart weight loss. Just…

that's a great achievement. I don't pay much attention to calories as being on a very low carb diet and constantly on ketosis I think that does the trick anyway, but if I get stuck I will try and pay attention to cals as well. Keep it going, sounds like you're doing really great :)

if it was just one day and then you went back within 20g of carbs per day don't worry, you probably didn't actually accumulate weight despite what the scale might tell you and in a week or so will probably be even lower than were you started if you stay in line. Moreover, for some people seems to be actually beneficial to…

at the moment the only thing that sort of moved me from my plateau was a bit of fat fasting. upping carbs/calories didn't quite work, but upping fat to up to 85% of total daily and staying under 1200cal per day it's what finally helped me.
-
when you say "fat fasting" do you mean to basically go all protein, not eating fat along with not eating carbs?

I did a test just last week. complete failure. I have yet to loose the 4lbs the carb nite alone put on me, let alone thinking of doing another carb nite after a week. stick to lowcarb I'd say...

This doesn't exactly solve the issue with regular bacon, but have you thought about switching to bacon medallions ? the grease and purely fat part is much less there so you might track them more easily? :)

I can tell you i tired pizza and icecream (about 300g of carbs) and it's been awful. 4 days after I still have 4lbs on and I am not back into ketosis yet...

Cheers for the input. I am trying to pay attention to calories as well now but I can tell in the first months I was shedding calories really didn't count. Because I was making let's say handmade meat balls (cause ready made ones almost always has bread or potatoes in them) and I could even get to 3k calories per day…

I am 5'8" and started at 232lbs. My goal is to get to 140 in the end, but I am also insulin resistant so it's always been a bit tricky... btw if there's anyone who'd like to add me as a friend for sharing and support, please do so :)

I used to drink the Smooth Move herbal teas. It has Senna which is a natural laxative. You drink it before going to sleep and it should help in the morning.

I'm in too :) been on Keto for a little over a month and log daily :)

ok, just to update, I had a carb nite on Thursday. Ate a pizza and some ice cream. Went back into less than 15carbs a day on friday morning, so eggs, bacon, spinach and such. This morning (Sunday) I am still up almost 2kgs. And I don't like it one bit. How am I supposed to have kick started my weight loss again if 3 days…

I did and even there the kind of food and the amount you can eat con "Carb Nite" is not discussed specifically. There are list of food for the low carb days but nothing on the Carb Nite more than generally "you can eat donuts or a slice of cheesecake" so nothing specific about amounts or specific foods to have or avoid.…

is there a follow up to this? What worked for you to jump start weight loss again? I've been hitting a plateau for 2 weeks now after losing an initial 18lbs in the first month of ketosis, and anything to jump start the weight loss would be so very welcome!
