For the last 4 days the adjustment has been a net -270 cals everyday irrespective of the amount of exercise I do. There is definitely something wrong so I am disabling it for the time being.

Yes I am and Michael Mosley is a medical doctor.

That's a great loss, congratulations. I started the 5:2 diet this week. So far so good. Feel free to add me if you would like support and to share experiences.

Hi, I started today as well. I'm would also be grateful for a bit of support. So far so good! Have to rush now but will say more later. All the best! :-)

Start now. :-)

After a hard weights session I always put on a couple of pounds and I believe this is fluid is due to inflammation of the muscle tissue - if you have DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) this is especially true. It goes after another day or so. Nothing to worry about.

I agree with most posters. The girl just doesn't know what she's talking about. The only thing I would say is make sure you have good form. I lift very heavy weights but work with a trainer so I don't damage myself, just work the muscles I am supposed to be working! Study videos, watch yourself in a mirror make sure you're…

This is a good technique video - not seen this one before. Most people do not put enough power into the drive and rush the recovery. The most common mistakes - thinking you need max resistance - No (it's a big subject but most rowers use a drag factor of 120 - 140 - lever 4/5 on a clean machine) and using a high stroke…

Rowing is one of the best full body exercises. The best make is Concept 2 - these are the types you find in gyms and all the top rowers use them. They cost though but if you shop around you can find a good second hand one - they're built to last and hold their value too. I have my own and row 4 - 5 times a week. If you…

When you first put it on run it under the tap and get it thoroughly wet. I have no problem in it picking up the signal after that.

Try half fat creme fraiche - it's a great substitute for cream. I add it to soups and curries if I want that creamy taste without the calories.

It sounds as though you're suffering from DOMS - delayed onset muscle soreness. Basically small tears in the muscle fibres. Take ibruprofen to help with the pain and swelling, a warm soak in the bath will help and then wait. I normally work on the principle 24 hrs to come on (the pain is at its height) and 24hrs to wear…

You won't lose 3lbs of fat. You could lose 3lbs but most of it would be water loss.
-
If you're talking about the wearlink chest belt I always rinse it under the cold tap and hang it to dry after every use. I occasionally handwash it with soap in warm water. When I come to use it I run it under the warm tap, wipe off the excess water before putting it on to ensure a good connection and reading. HTH

It's funny I did about 3-4 hours gardening yesterday but only decided to count half because I couldn't believe the figures and yet I feel really tired today as though I'd done a lot of work (I work out most days too so I should be used to it) Makes you think!

I don't think it is confined to Polar FT40 but maybe Polar HRMs in general. I had this problem for about a month. Did everything I could think of to solve the problem - washed strap, changed batteries & nothing helped. I got very frustrated and even bought a cheap replacement, I assumed the Polar was picking up…

Yep! lol

What a good way to describe that initial phase! I know what you mean about the excitement and the anticipation in the first few months and then the creeping boredom - oh yes I've been there many times. I have been on this mission to lose weight and get fit for about 3 years now. Mostly with Weight Watchers and now with…

Congratulations. I'll have to look out for that one (I don't usually use the Wii Fit for cardio) it sounds like hard work! Glad you made it.
-
Congratulations! It's great to hear from people like yourself who have made it through. It's great encouragement for those of us still on the journey. All the very best!

It's not slow you know. Of course there are folk who seems to lose it quickly but I think they're the exception. Slow and steady is best, work on changing your lifestyle so it never comes back - that's the key. Not how quickly you lose it. All the best.

Mine was taken as a test on my son's 'broken' camera. It wasn't broken just needs careful handling, does he listen though...........

I take it with a large pinch of salt - not seriously at all. I think it's supposed to be motivational.
-
Motivation and support. Get a group of like minded friends with similar goals together, it'll really help you through the rough patches.

Another chocolate milk fan here and I thought it was only me! I put a spoonful of drinking chocolate in the blender with half fat milk. Helps with re-hydration too.

Welcome Deborah - from one Deborah to another!

Welcome. I'm fairly new myself but so far so good. The site is good, the people great and I love the app too. I hope it works for you. :-)
-
Many congratulations. It's good to recognise it's not just about weight loss. Keep up the good work.

Greetings! :-)
