  • My mom and dad are doing the same little dance in the kitchen. Get rid of the junk food, and it will just come back. So throwing out his cheesecake won't work. I agree with the others that say he has a right to eat what he wants. BUT YOU HAVE A RIGHT not to be sabotaged, even if he's only doing it subconsciously. Tell him…
  • LMAO - oh, this made me spew my drink everywhere. Perfect response! I totally agree!

  • I've been doing the low carb diet for PCOS (on doctor's orders) for 9 months now. I was diagnosed with PCOS 16 years ago. It took almost that long for my team of doctors to decide I should go low carb. And now... after 9 months... my doctor and specialist have said they can find no sign in my body of the PCOS anymore. I'm…
  • Hahaha. Annnnnnnnd people with long hair brush their hair twice as often as people with short hair. People with body piercings wear more jewellery. People who read excessive studies on lame crap end up being the people who can't make a decision for themselves for the rest of their lives. People with long fingers pick their…
  • I use a "fat butt seat"... also known as a riding or touring seat. I think modern seats were created as TORTURE DEVICES. And the thinner I am, the less padding on my butt... so the modern seats just hurt more and more. If you can change the seat out for a normal riding seat... try it!
  • Yes, low carb really works. I recommend this book: http://www.amazon.com/Patients-Guide-PCOS-Understanding---Reversing--Polycystic/dp/0805078282/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1334069357&sr=8-1 I was diagnosed at 17, researched for years and went through several doctors and specialists to get healthy... but only found this book at…
  • Hi, I have PCOS as well - was diagnosed at 17, and I'm 33 now. I spent years struggling, with and without Metformin prescriptions, through a miracle pregnancy in the middle of it, and for 5 years after my child was born trying to lose the weight. It FINALLY clicked in the last 8 months. Like lat100, I had to lower my…
  • I've been fighting with this for awhile. Finally found this post! Yay! Thank you SO MUCH for the help! :)
  • Wait... there's a marathon at DISNEY? That's it... I'm starting C25K today. Running it is!
  • Yes. I am always cold now that I'm losing weight. The only exception is when I'm working out. Then I just feel 'normal' temp. I used to hate summer, because I couldn't stand the heat. Being so big and hot all the time didn't help. Now, summer is a welcome thing - the sunshine on my freezing cold body feels nice (first time…
  • Wait, WHAT?!? Who said you look fat? They assume you haven't lost weight? They're insane, you look great.
  • How old were you when you got engaged? 26 How long had you been together before getting engaged? 10 days How old were you when you got married? 26 (married 6 months later) Are you still together (if so, for how long)? yes, we've been together for 7 years now. (Have been friends since we were babies though)
  • Each surgeon sets their own limit, and some countries may have their own guidelines. My aunt here in Canada had hers done a few years ago... she was a -8. something... and it has been an incredible blessing to her as she felt mostly blind beforehand. At -5.75... you'll be just fine pretty much no matter where you go.
  • WTF?! THAT'S what you take from the picture? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Too creepy for words. That's what that is. TOO. Freakin'. CREEPY.
  • Wuthering Heights. UGH. I had to read it for High School. My mentor said it was on the curriculum because "it's a classic" and the "depths and layers of meaning" in the story make it an interesting study. SURE. I am an avid reader. I'll read almost anything. But you can't pay me to EVER read that book. I tried for WEEKS to…
  • Mm, these look good! And just in time to be able to make for a healthier alternative to other holiday baking! thanks! :)
  • 1. Do you experience a lot of stress-producing thoughts when attempting to sleep, such as things to do or worrisome thoughts, that prevents you from falling asleep quicker? __Yes X__No 2. On an average night, how easy is it to fall asleep? __Pretty easy X__ Not easy 3. About how many hours of sleep do you get each night?…
  • Love this response! And the "no giving a damn diet" is the best diet ever! ;)
  • What was said to me, and how I reacted or how it affected me: 1) My grandma when I was 13: "You have piano knees!" Me: "Um, what are piano knees?" Grandma: "That's when your knees are so fat, they only look good hidden beneath a piano." ~ I've never worn shorts since that day. That was a very long time ago, but I just…
  • No throwing stones here, I used to wonder that myself! Anyone? Any people in the medical field want to tell us if there was a terminology that started with "hyst" that DIDN'T refer to how men believed women were back in the day? (ok, some of us actually are, but still... )
  • I do all that too, reneeot... I also grate a head of cauliflower before steaming it - it's an amazing substitute for rice that way! So I can have stirfried chicken/veggies on a bed of "rice"... and no carbs from the rice. :)
  • I'm freezing all the time. So's my mom - we're on similar weight loss journeys. I don't know medically why that is, but we both just chalk it up to having less fat to insulate us. LOL.
  • Hey - this is a definite YES for me. I am not in any way regular either. But the exercising changed my hormones enough that when I DO get a period... it's different than it was. A few times I thought I might be pregnant because of the "new to me" symptoms. (breast tenderness, cramping that felt like "pulling", really light…
  • Everything you said, my dear! :flowerforyou: I've been insulin resistant, with PCOS, for my entire adult and adolescent life... going on 20 years now. I tried for the last 3 years to lose weight - at the gym 3 to 5 days a week busting my behind... eating through Weight Watchers "point system"... then switched to follow…
  • My local YMCA gym has an agreement with the highschool across the street, to let them in for a few gym classes per day. So it seemed like every time I went into the gym, the machines were taken up by about 35 fifteen year old kids, and a gym teacher, wandering around with notebooks and playing with the equipment. I'm all…
  • Rodney - I love your profile picture. LMAO that's funny!
  • Answering the OP question: The addiction makes you want one, you're 'rewarding' yourself for the hard work by relaxing with a cigarette. Being addicted, it's pretty much the only way you can get that feeling now. Try to wait 1/2 an hour. Drink water, call a friend. Something to take your mind off it. Then, when you're used…
  • Exactly. G.I. was good, but not good ENOUGH for me. Low carb is now the way I eat... but G.I. was a good stepping stone to getting here! :) Thanks for the article link, interesting read! It's worked for me so far!
  • It's helped me immensely! I have PCOS, and could not control my sugars or insulin. :( My doctor refused to prescribe Metformin (even though I'd been on it before and it helped.) Eating Low GI helped me to lower my sugars (lower carbs = lower blood sugars) and my insulin levels went normal. When my insulin was normal, my…
  • There are LOTS of low-glycemic foods. Basically anything with carbohydrates will turn to sugar very quickly in your system. So, low-glycemic foods are foods that DON'T turn to sugar quickly in the body. Proteins in any form, veggies, and whole grains. (Some people, like myself, cannot do even "whole grains"... it depends…
