Hey! I had two heart attacks at the age of 33 (I'm 43 now) and I now do bodycombat 4 times a week and body pump twice as well as running (not very far cos I hate it!) I'm totally back to normal and on my usual January "could do with losing a few pounds" health kick! What's meds are you on? I was in beta blockers for ages…

That's really great but it is a risk and it is dependant upon how much you lose and how quickly etc. If you lose quickly, don't have very elastic skin with lots of collagens find yourself with really saggy skin the. Short of surgery or regaining in the weight it's irreversible. My friend lost loads of weight, is really…

I know lots of people who have shifted lots of weight without much exercise but a lot of them end up with excess skin that's saggy and then they can't do anything about it.... so yes yo can do it but it would be better if you could incorporate both. Good luck! Xx

I'm sister is also like this and it works for her... sometimes she weighs three times a day but has a handle on it! I'm nearly 43 now and want to think about health more than Wright. Also conscious that at my age too thin isn't great for bone density etc... I also know that the stronger I get the more I may weigh for my…

I've done MFP a few times before and at my highest weight (about 170 which is where I think I am now judging my clothes fitting, or not as the case may be!) it gave me 1350 to lose 1lb a week which I'm comfortable with and it worked. I set myself as sedentary and Fitbit across my calories so I don't count exercise twice.…
-
You guys are ace... thanks. Gonna set my calories at 1200 and eat half of my Fitbit exercise cals and see where we go. I have a pair of jeans I can't even get into, that'd be a start! And a lovely summery beach wear top that hasn't fitted me for ages as I can't get it over my boobs... if I can wear that in the summer then…

That's something I hadn't thought of..... there are scales at my gym. Could do that I suppose.. thanks xxx

What's ONE TRUE WAY?! Sounds like a religious cult
-
Yeah me too. It's syncing steps today but nothing from yesterday which is a pain as I burnt over 3000 calories
-
How are you feeling in yourself? Not breathless or anything? If you're feeling short of breath at any point then go to the docs. If you wrote retaining water at that rate it would have swollen your ankles, fingers etc... Hope you get it sorted xx

I teach it. In fact I showed the kids MFP. They're secondary school and had no idea how many calories were in anything or how many they should eat to maintain wait and be healthy.
-
Should have said.... I've unsynced my vivofit from MFP XX

I get this and for me it's low blood pressure. I feel like I'm disconnected from myself and everything around me and I've had the stuffing knocked out of me. I drink lots of fluid and eat something salty and it seems to sort me out. It's a hideous feeling though.

I'm not sure this is DOMS you know. I have the usual tightness and aches that I actually quite like (sadistic I know) but this feels like I've dislocated my hips! Hence the reason I think it's the squats. When I adopt the squat position now that's where I feel the pain and my back feels "loose" It is easing though... Our…
-
Thanks Allan, I thought it would probably be that. It's just where it is that's inconvenient, ie lower back and hips. Think it was the squats that did it! Jules x

Aaaah thanks.... I will await your experience,I hate wearing a pad! I'm 41 but have been like this since I was 21 and I had my daughter. It's never got worse not even after my second birth and it's worse at different points in my cycle. I want to leap about!,
-
Lol... Yep.... Do both.
-
On a slight side note: I had two unexplained heart attacks at 33 years old and every doctor asked was I a cocaine user. Ok I'm fine with that but one really went for it and had me almost confessing!! (To something I hadn't done by the way!!) xxx keep up the good work OP XX
-
Yeah this is just plain old common sense... I needed a dose of it!! Xxxx

I don't need to lose 2lbs a week.... I'm 163 and would like to be 140. I do a combination of cardio and resistance and will be out on my bike in the summer so I think I'm doing the right stuff. I eat healthily, track calories as accurately as I can and don't eat ALL. my exercise calories back as a safety measure... I do…
-
No it's definitely net calories... So if I don't exercise it's 780 for the day! Xx
-
Thanks guys! I actually think it's right. The 1800 is for 24 hours and doesn't include anything else in terms of even basic activity. I have never lost 2lbs a week regularly no matter how well I track. To the point I think I'm doing something wrong. I think I have to accept that I'm able to lose one pound a week if I track…
-
Blah!! It's all too scientific for me!! I bought the HRM to be MORE accurate. I sometimes think I should just stop with MFP and tracking and be more instinctive (or care less!) thanks for your responses guys xxx
-
Will I not end up under eating? I'm happy to stick to my basic 1200. Have tried TDEE but it seems to give me weigh more calories than I actually burn if I wear my HRM for 24 hours. Confused!! Xx
-
Oh yes!!! I noticed mine was high after both as well.... And zone 3 for most of the rest of the time, which for me is 130s. I love pump so much :) thanks for replying! Xx

Hi all, nearly 41 (somehow hadn't factored that I'd be 41 after 40!) and I'm a mum, teacher and heart attack x 2 survivor (when I was 33, cause unknown to this day) I do pump and combat, love my bike but not in the winter. I have probably 20 lbs to lose but I'm more concerned with the way it all fits together rather than…

I often wonder how there have been no heart attacks. The majority of people who appear on the shOw, by the very fact their heart is working so much harder, are not heart healthy and most have raised cholesterol or are on blood pressure / diabetes meds. I have had two heart attacks (when I was 33) and the cardiac rehab team…

If you're going to continue to weigh yourself every day you need to be a little more objective about what the scales are telling you. I weigh every day but only for info, it actually has a better impact psychologically than every week. For example. I have eaten perfect net calories this week and lost my desired pound and a…

It's worked for me... I have lost nearly a stone in six weeks after previously failing to budge any weight. I have tried MFP before and it didn't work as well as it had now. I have found that if I use the base 1200 calories and eat most of my exercise calories it works for me. Also you can have anything as long as you know…

I had a heart attack at 33. When I went to cardiac rehab the consultant cardiologist said "weights are not exercise" 5 x 45 per week cardio is essential. Maybe not for weight loss but for heart health.
