Hi, I too am 53 and in the best shape I have ever been in. You can do it. Eating right and exercise can be fun and rewarding. Hit the gym and make some new friends.

You may want to try a re-feed once a week to reset your metobolism.

One thing to remember. Cutting calories is how you lose weigth. Exercising is how you keep it off. :smile:

As long as you don't cheat you will lose the weight at a safe and sustainable pace at 1400 calories. You will go crazy at 1200. Make sure to get your daily excercise in. Try and concentrate on your Macros so you stay healthly and have energy.

Trail mix will do the trick very easily. Try Target's carmel ball trail mix. To die for!

Welcome. I am 52, soon to be 53. I have found running is a life saver. I have never been a runner and started a year ago and have since completed 4 marathons. It is easier and more fun than you think. As a bonus when you run this much you can eat without guilt:glasses:

Be carefull. Granola bars are full of fat and calories. Try fruit.

Try a Fiber One brownie warmed up in the microwave for 10 seconds with a few cut up strawberries. 100 calories of pure bliss!

I tried switching to Coors Light but it did not go over well at the office.

I am down to 3 a day from about 12 so it is a beginning. And yes I do drink my 8 glasses of water :smile:

Greek yogurt with blueberries, strawberries, tsp honey and 1/4 granola. Yummy and 12 grams of protein for 240 calories.

Come on!. Eat a balanced diet and excersie and everything will fall into place. Diets like this will have you feeling deprived and listless.

Im 5'9 and currently at 140 ( goal 135). I am training for a body building competition and I have found Yoga to work great on most aspects of my body, along with running and of course weight training. Im 53 and anything IS possible.
