  • Lol I listen to the same music as teenagers and my children aren't old enough yet to tell me how pathetic i am I take cabs at night because my eyesight is not good for night driving I hold books about a mile from my face so I can actually see them I am ridiculously excited that Jesus Christ Superstar is out on DVD I can't…
  • Hi, I found that with 30DS. I loved it but I think I have a slight weakness in my left knee that copes okay with walking/running but my knee always felt very iffy after 30DS. Probably better to find an exercise that suits you. :-)
  • This is only my experience but I have better results losing weight when I am not exercising. Exercise makes me hungry. It also makes me feel great. So I carry on exercising as I am not hugely overweight but if I need to drop half a stone, I'm better off stopping for a bit and concentrating on calorie count.
  • Probably not much help but having babies made the difference for me. I was very much a pear but since my 2 boys, my top half has caught up with my hips :-/ TBH I think I preferred being a pear!
  • I don't mind really. I hear the same comment about women picking their kids up from school who wear nice clothes or shock horror, make up! As if it was okay to do it for work or going out but now you are a mother, get yourself in some baggy mum clothes, grease back your hair and scrub your face immediately lol. It probably…
  • Hi, I have a 4 and 8 year old. I am lucky that I can go out in the mornings at the moment while they are at school as I am still at home, but this won't be the case for ever. At weekends, I go out and leave them with hubby although my 8 year old came with me on Sunday morning and it was fun - he actually kept me going! I…
  • You have given me hope that mine shrink a bit.
  • I am on Week 5, doing day 2 today! A tad scared about it! Friend me, it keeps you going watching other people's progress.
  • Do the Couch to 5K - it builds you up slowly and just don't worry about what anyone thinks. I am on week 5 and like you, suffer from embarrassment. It's not really a weight thing with me but I just feel embarrassed lol but to be honest, I have mostly got over it. Friend me if you like. If you do it, definitely use a…
  • Hi, I am on week 5 of C25K. I love it and it's simple, I can just put on my trainers and head out the front door. Don't have time (or inclination any more) for the gym. The only struggle i am having is that it makes me want to eat more so I am trying to work out a way to get my eating right so that I am not gaining weight!…
  • Fantastic! I am on week 6 of Counch to 5K and I am not brave enough to actually do a 5K yet. Well done! Very inspiring.
  • Yes you can definitely see a difference in size and you look much healthier and I bet you feel much better in yourself too (which is the most important thing imo).
  • I have had this from time to time. I always have a bit of a belly going on, even when I'm slim. It is mortifying though. It's not just about size, you might be someone wanting to be pregnant, someone who has lost a baby, someone who is pregnant and not announced it yet - there's a million different reasons not to ask!
  • Friend me! I am on week 4. I think it's great. I did a lot of walking for a few months beforehand but sounds like you could go straight into it if you have been using the treadmill :-) I haven't really exercised for about 8 years and before that I was more into swimming or gym but never running. Now it's the only thing I…
  • Definitely the C25K. I am on week 4. Make sure you have a podcast, much easier than faffing with stopwatch etc. Before I started I did a few months of just going for 40 minute walks as my legs felt so weak! But I am older and hadn't exercised for 8 years after having kids, you could probably start it straight off.
  • Thanks for all the replies :-). Lloyds pharmacy widget looks good for the short term and I can save up for something that tracks distance. Thanks again!
  • Hi! Me too. I don't really discuss with anyone in any detail. That's why I like using this site, as it's away from real life. My goals are personal to me and I have got to the point in my life (ie I am old) that i am not looking for approval. Obviously my hub knows I go running now and he acts a bit amused by it all and I…
  • lol no I am probaby the only sad person left who doesn't have an iphone or smart phone. My hub has one for work, but I'm worried I'll get mugged for it! Any other suggestions?
  • Just don't discuss it with them at all. You are doing it for you, not them. Steer onto other topics - they are only going to wind you up. I know a few people like that and I don't discuss at all, just talk about anything but.
  • I am week 3, I will be your friend!
  • I am 5' 4" and around 140 but this is too much for me, I have a tiny frame. I see other women on here who are the same height and sometimes weigh more than me but it looks better on them, different frame and body shape. I reckon my ideal is between 125 and 130, though my face sort of disappears if I go too slim. And I am 8…
  • I am doing the c25k at the mo, but one day when it was raining I did the 30DS level 1 and found it okay. But I have been building myself up slowly for the last 4 months with walking and jogging, so I am probably a little bit fitter by now (but not much!) I really want to finish the running programme but once I am confident…
  • Short. Or bald. Man should be man. lol.
  • Wow! I could look at before and after pictures all day, it's fantastic to see how different people look after hitting their goals.
  • I hate unannounced visitors. I always seem to get that problem when I move to a new area, one neighbour walked through my gate and into my kitchen once to chat. I was speechless lol. I think she realised though and never did it again. Another one used to turn up around teatime when my kids were at the table and keep me…
  • Aw I feel your pain. I have two children, age 8 and 4 and it's taken me long to get on top of this situation so don't be like me, try and sort it out now! Is there something different you could try, instead of the gym? I am doing C25K and 30 Day Shred. I am very lucky now because both my kids are at school, so I do finally…
  • Amazing progress. Very inspirational!
  • Hi, I have always found it easier to lose weight without exercising because exercise makes me so hungry and also when I feel well in myself (which exercise does to you) I actually don't feel as bothered about what I look like. I have started exercising again recently and I'm really enjoying it so I need help in actually…
  • Wow, you can definitely see the difference around your tummy area. This is my problem area, so I am taking notice (meanders over to drawer to get 30DS out ... )
  • Hi I am on the second week. This is my third attempt really. Back in October I started and realised that, after 8 years of being full time mummy with no exercise, that I wasn't as fit and strong as I thought. So I concentrated on doing 30-40 minute brisk walks 3 times a week. Then I started again just after Xmas and it was…
