  • In order to incorporate important days like birthdays, holiday dinners, etc. into my new way of eating, I already have days where I don't log everything. But that is reserved for very rare and special occasions. Logging gives me sanity and confidence. Taking a "day off" only helps me get through things like Christmas…
  • Guessed the milkshake at first. Second guess was correct. WOW.......
  • I live on eggs, tuna, canned chicken, lean lunch meats, avocado, broccoli, in season fresh fruits and vegetables (peaches are $0.97/lb at my local discount grocery store this week), rice, hummus... I try to buy meat when it's on sale, even if I don't need it. ESPECIALLY meat that's marked down because it's about to expire.…
  • For very rare occasions like my birthday, I don't log and just enjoy myself. But then again, when I was 19 and over 200lbs I could drink like a BEAST and often got blackout drunk and am soooo over that now (especially how it made my body feel). I don't enjoy being anything more than tipsy anymore - and losing 50lbs 2 years…
  • DEFINITELY needs butter or oil and salt and pepper after you've scraped it all out. Then it's super delicious with spaghetti sauce and meatballs, or little button mushrooms :). My SO likes it cooked until it's super mushy, but it's also not bad still crunchy.
  • I always get the Ultimate Chicken Grill with a garden salad. But that's like 500-ish calories, and who wants that when you've got 1000 to spend ;)
  • I'm always so so so tired after work. The thought of cooking after coming home starving and exhausted makes me sad. But I'm really busy lately on my days off, and am terrible at meal prep. So we've started having a constant rotation of lean meat + roasted veg + salad + occasionally rice to make our lives easier. For salads…

  • I buy Lavazza ground coffee, and make Americanos with my aeropress. It's a very simple coffee maker that essentially creates a shot of espresso (just not foamy, because it isn't machine pressed). You add the shot to a mug, and top up with hot water. This is my 10000% preferred way to have it. Americanos are awesome :) (I…
  • I weigh the entire avocado (or half of it, depending what I plan to use), scoop it out, and weigh the empty shell/pit afterward. Then I subtract the second weight from the first and use a database entry that specifies "avocado MEAT".

  • On work days, I have 3 meals. Breakfast is around 300, lunch is closer to 500, and dinner is 300-500. The remaining of my calories goes to a couple snacks (one mid-morning and one before bed). Currently eating 1500-1800 depending on the day. When I don't work, I sleep in and eat a very heavy brunch, a snack, reg. size…
  • Congrats OP, on all of your hard work! I lost 50lbs with MFP before my SO and I officially started dating. Unfortunately a lot of things happened that caused me to gain a good chunk of it back. And I was honestly miserable! I felt I had lost control, and my confidence was the lowest it's basically ever been (when I was a…
  • Mmm I second the suggestion of mashed avocado on toast. Had that this morning, with a little squirt of sriracha, and salt and pepper. And a bowl of strawberries and apricots on the side, dipped in 0% coconut greek yogurt. I am actually SO full :). -Most mornings I have to eat in the car because I work at 7am, so my…
  • :) I make a lot of little substitutions. I want to enjoy the same foods as my SO and others around me, but tweaked to fit my needs. He gets mayo on his sandwiches, I have tzatziki. He has rye bread, I use weight watchers multigrain bread. That kinda thing. At dinner, we have the same thing. Except I have more veggies and…
  • hummus, turkey pepperettes, babybel cheeses, greek yogurt with honey... :)
  • I take sweetener and cashew milk in an insulated coffee canteen, and then get a black iced coffee from Starbucks or McDonalds or Tim Hortons, and mix. 10 cals per coffee, though not as sweet as a big sugary latte I suppose.
  • I've been on a tortilla kick lately. I make wraps, and they're super easy to eat one-handed out of the plastic wrap I take mine to work in. 1.) 1/3 can of chicken breast (Kirkland brand is my favourite) mixed with 2 tbsp salsa. Then I add spinach and diced tomatoes. 2.) 1/2 can of light tuna in water (drained), mixed with…
  • I looove seeded bread. Country Harvest makes so many awesome kinds (sprouted wheat is my new fave at 110 cals per slice). If I'm having that kind of bread for breakfast, I only eat one slice with a topping (egg with spinach, or different cream cheeses, or mashed avocado, etc) and have fruit and yogurt on the side. Lately…
  • Olive oil, salt and pepper. Sometimes minced garlic (the jar from Costco is my favourite). The other day, we put asparagus in a disposable roasting pan, drizzled with oil, salt and pepper, and put that on the grill. Cooked until they got shriveled and soft. They were crispy in some parts, tender in others, and so sweet.
  • Mm another way I love to make veggies is in stir fry. I cut up long eggplant, zucchini, onions, peppers, broccoli, mushrooms - basically whatever I have on hand. I get a deep pan with a lid, and pour in 4-5 tbsp of low sodium soy sauce, 4-5 tbsp of rice vinegar, and then toss in all the veg and close the lid. They cook…
  • Veggies + olive oil + salt and pepper + oven = absolute heaven. It blows my mind that people live their lives without loving fruits and vegetables :(. I eat both every single day. 300g fresh local asparagus, with 2 tsp olive oil and salt and pepper, baked at 400*F for 25 minutes is our new go-to. One thing I love that is…
  • I like the suggestion of eating the same thing your family eats, just with more veggies or a salad. My SO and I both have salad, both have tons of cooked veg, and then I weigh out my meat and rice. He has however much he wants. Veggies-wise, we love steamed broccoli with lemon juice, baked asparagus, baked broccoli, baked…
  • Sliced, on top of mashed avocado on toast. With sriracha :). I also love them sliced in a salad, or 2 eggs mixed with 1tbsp light mayo and salt and pepper.
  • :) I ask him to make it all the time. Here's a photo for reference, hahah: https://www.instagram.com/p/BFF7Hl9D0Qg/?taken-by=nixxthirteen
  • To be fair, I've NEVER enjoyed cream in my coffee. Even at my heaviest, my family drank 1% milk, so my transition to drinking unsweetened cashew milk in my coffee was an easy one. I buy expensive coffee because it tastes amazing with less extras needed. I also use an aeropress coffee maker, which essentially makes a…
  • It's up to your specific mood/appetite. If my dinner is at a regular time, I enjoy a small snack before bed. I absolutely cannot sleep if I'm hungry, and it makes me miserable. When I work the close shift at work, I get home close to midnight and will have my dinner then. There is no truth to the "YOU CANT EAT AFTER 7PM OR…
  • My SO and I leave for work at 6:30 am, so we always end up eating breakfast in the car on work days. I like a coffee, a banana, and a piece of sprouted wheat toast with various combinations of toppings: 16g chocolate cream cheese with 5g natural peanut butter. half an avocado mashed, with sriracha and tomato slices. half…
  • My boyfriend is the king of oatmeal. He makes the most delicious sweet and savoury kinds. 1.) He toasts the oats in unrefined coconut oil until they get fragrant. This makes a HUGE difference, because they retain their shape and fluffy texture during the boiling process. 2.) If making sweet oats, he boils them in water…
  • Avocado!!!! <3 And I just discovered unsweetened cashew milk. My life will never be the same.
