Fellow beer league all start with the same issue. What I've come to find with hockey being my main mode of exercise is its not enough. I could play 5 games in a day and be fine but I doubt in my current shape I could run a mile. I can drop into the butterfly and get up 100 times with no issues, but my thighs are burning…

Muscles need recovery time. If they are that sore they still need time to recover. Especially if you are new to lifting 4 days a week can be over doing it.

I usually go through 2 gallons a day depending on the heat. One gallon working and one at night when I am home. I just monitor my urine color. If it's clear you are drinking to much.

Start taking measurements, you may not think there is a difference in a photo but I can gaurentee a 30lb loss means there is some inches lost

Sodium packed foods and sugary alcohol will cause retention. I'm sure you didn't gain 10lbs. I've seen my weight fluctuate as much as 6lbs in a day off yard work and once saw an 11lb change after a 7 period hockey game. I have avoided them, you would be amazed at the sugar in even "healthy" processed food. I have no problem drinking 4 Liters a day but I see alot of people with the water bottle that had a lower compartment for fruit that flavors the water

I prefer warming things in the oven. Meat doesn't get as chewy and veggies don't get as soggy like in a microwave

I have torn an ACL and 2 MCL, you would know it if you did. Small tears can happen and rest is really all you can do, if the pain isn't reducing in a week see a doctor. MCLs will come with stability problems.

Do not store any hot food in the fridge untill it cools. That is the breading groud for bacteria. I usually let my left overs cool in Tupperware for 30 minutes before I put the lid on and store. No meat is dangerous reheated unless it's fairly old or was no stored properly.

I have left normal weight lifts and moved to a single workout with a 35lb kettle bell. Instead of working individual muscle groups you work the whole body.

I am 280 and can skate like I'm a 120lb figure skater. My only advice is watch your ankle support. Avoid rentals and pick up clear hockey tape if you feel your ankles are unstable. Couple wraps around to hold the boot tighter
